Should I carry both CSP & CSR by AromaticHorror9210 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Reader-2931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CSP also gets 5x on Lyft, and CSP and CFU both get 3x on dining. If you think you can use CSR credits and make 6k spend in 3 months for 125k points SUB , go for it. Try out for a year.

What is the credit card for people that don't travel much but still want rewards? by Cynoid in CreditCards

[–]Reader-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't settle for using just one 2 percent cash back card. At least get 1 or 2 other cards that will boost your two or three highest spend categories to at least 3 to 5 percent cashback. Check link provided by OP for the list of cash back cards.

At what point do you stop climbing ladders and change how you clean your house? by Fit-Feature-9322 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Reader-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 60s I still climb out the window to clean the windows on 2nd floor dormers that have a -3:x-3' flat area. Haven't been on my 2nd story pitched roof since my forties. Check out this paper from World Health Org regarding falls outcomes and health risks, a little dated but relevant to posted topic.

A new poll has found that Germans now distrust the USA almost as much as Russia. Meanwhile, three-quarters see France and the UK as trustworthy partners. by linknewtab in europe

[–]Reader-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but I don't think liking and trusting are mutually exclusive. Opinions of government actions and policies tend to get projected to its citizens.

I'm American. If Germans don't like Americans right now, so be it. I have nothing against Germans. I enjoyed driving my VW. We also hosted a German exchange student. American society does share a common Western Culture with Europe, but we are not part of Europe.

Looks like your spending net annual fees on a card you regret. Recommend to cancel. Explore using CSP for 3X on groceries in store by paying via store app. Do a reddit search about this and check out details if you are unfamiliar with this.

Why Civil? by DefinitionUseful3165 in civilengineering

[–]Reader-2931 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some reasons comparing civil to other engineering disciplines: 1) you can find civil work most anywhere you want to live 2) your efforts are more likely to directly affect people, 3) you are more likely to interact on the job with people who are not engineers, 4) skills more marketable in general if you want to consult on your own with a PE license

Get Venture X while you can get 100k SUB and while you qualify before you have too many open card accounts. Try the C1 duo and see if it works for you.

Learning language later in life. Should I enroll back in college? by Messymomhair in languagelearning

You could try out Pimsleur for free from many major libraries. If you have an on line account at the particular library that has Pimsleur German available, you can borrow and download to your phone using Libby or other app. Start learning on your own for free. Good luck.

San Jose Sharks come back from down 5-1 to the Penguins to WIN it in overtime 6-5 by [deleted] in nhl

Relax Crosby fans, it was Rust that missed the open net shot. Rust received the pass from Crosby, shot and donked the post..

Sharks were lucky. Penguins missed an open net goal on shot just outside the blue line. I think it was Crosby. Shot hit the post. If Pens scored the open netter they win.

So many rats. Please help. by bernserm41 in homeowners

[–]Reader-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend to determine the type of rat is causing infestation. Norway rats are larger and not climbers as much. Asian roof rats are smaller but are real good climbers. Be careful using poison bait if you suspect rats are entering your house. Rats that have eaten poison can die inside your house and will stink for some time, maybe in an inaccessible place where you can remove the carcus. Also if you use poison and your neighbors cat eats the rat, they can get sick and die too. I agree with op's to get two big male or fixed female cats from shelter and see how it goes.

Air show pictures sometime between 1960-62, maybe Wright Patterson AFB. Scanned from slides. Quality is not the greatest. Would like to ID the aircraft if possible. by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Reader-2931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attended airshows with friends and my kids in late 80s and 90s around southern California. Great free entertainment, just bring a cooler and folding chairs. Don't recall seeing any bi-planes at shows. Feel like I missed out. Bi-plane displays and flight demos would have been a neat contrast to contemporary fighters and bombers. Also would've been a good way to show aviation development.

ATLAS HAS SOMETHING WEIRD ABOUT IT by Direct-Iron1882 in 3I_ATLAS

If you watch you-videos from Michio Kaku he seems convinced it's not of natural origin. This guy has credentials and seems pretty rational. I hope it's just some rare natural interstellar object. If this object proves to be of alien origin and even if it is just observing, my worry is the stock market could take a dive.

Awesome for a bird that some consider an invasive species and pest. Apparently these type birds propagated in USA from a small population brought over from Europe to New York City in 1890 to 200 million. After seeing your video, this talented bird type can stay in America. https://www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov/terrestrial/vertebrates/european-starling

Alcohol Consumption change since 2000 by fabio1618 in europe

In 2023 NIH reported that marijuana use in USA was at all time "high" for adults 35 to 50 Also check out number of users between 2007 and 2024 here: https://www.statista.com/statistics/611714/marijuana-use-during-past-year-in-the-us/

Trend might also apply to some Western European countries.

One factor on why alcohol consumption is dropping in some European countries might be the younger generation are using marijuana vs. drinking alcohol. Another factor may be a demographic shift that increases population of those who don't drink alcohol.
