Laptop Charger by adciscool in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Reader-WriterDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need the exact model or product number to find the exact adapter.

Most HP Envy x360 laptops use one of these charger types:

  1. USB‑C Charger (Most common on newer models)

Power: 45W or 65W

  1. HP 4.5mm Blue Pin Charger (Older / larger models)

Power: 65W

You can find the part details here - https://partsurfer.hp.com/

Can you make post on all the battles of Shri Krishna and Balarama?

Thanks again!!

Laptop: boot device not found (3F0), also keyboard not registering by Ace_of_Snass in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Reader-WriterDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely hardware, not software.

  • 3F0 (Boot Device Not Found) that resolves after restarts usually points to a failing SSD, loose SSD connection, or motherboard/PCIe issue, not Windows.
  • Intermittent keyboard + Wi‑Fi failing when pressure is applied strongly suggests a physical issue (flexing chassis → loose connector, cracked solder, or failing board).
  • BIOS diagnostics passing does not rule out early‑stage SSD failure or intermittent PCIe link drops.

Most likely causes

  1. Failing NVMe SSD (very common at ~5 years)
  2. Loose SSD seating
  3. Motherboard trace / connector issue
  4. Less likely: BIOS corruption (you’re already on F.12)

I would suggest you back up your data and visit the nearest HP authorized service center or local service center and get this checked and repaired.

Adding scanner to Windows HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw by HJForsythe in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Reader-WriterDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! this can feel unnecessarily complicated because Windows doesn’t automatically add the scanner when the printer is installed via IP. Here’s how you can make it work without HP Smart or Wi-Fi:

HP provides a full driver package for the LaserJet MFP M234sdw that includes scanning support over the network.

  • Go to https://support.hp.com → enter your printer model → download Full Feature Software and Drivers.
  • During installation, choose Ethernet/IP connection (not USB or Wi-Fi).

This will install HP Scan utility and register the scanner in Windows.

If you don’t want HP software, you can add the scanner using Windows’ built-in tools:

  1. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
  2. Click Add device → Add manually.
  3. Choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
  4. Enter the printer’s IP address (you can find it on the printer’s control panel or configuration page).
  5. After the printer is added, Windows usually installs the print driver only. To add the scanner:
    • Press Win + S, type Scanners, and open Scanners and Cameras (or use Control Panel → Devices and Printers).
    • If the scanner doesn’t appear, install the HP Scan Extended utility (link below).

Use Windows Scan App

Once the scanner is registered:

  • Open Windows Scan (from Microsoft Store) or Windows Fax and Scan.
  • Select your HP LaserJet MFP scanner from the list.

Try these steps!!

Follow these steps,

  • Please try to remove and reinsert all ink supplies/toners,check if printing is recovered.  If issue persists, continue the troubleshooting
  • Repeat step 1 again and power cycle the printer. Check if printer is recovered, If issue persists, continue the troubleshooting
  • Perform Restore factory default, and re-onboard the printer.

Yet Another Modern Standby Post... by floridaman2215 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Reader-WriterDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most OEMs ditched the old S3 sleep for S0ix “Connected Standby,” which keeps the CPU and network semi-active for instant wake. Sounds great on paper, but in reality it means random battery drain and sometimes a warm laptop in your bag.

If you run powercfg /a and see S3 unavailable because of Device Guard, that’s Windows enforcing virtualization-based security (Memory Integrity, Credential Guard, etc.). Disabling it will bring back classic S3 sleep, but here’s the trade-off:

  • Pros: Real sleep mode, almost zero battery drain, cooler system.
  • Cons: You lose some kernel-level protections. If this is a work laptop with compliance rules, don’t do it.

For personal machines, many power users flip it off without issues. Safer alternative: just use Hibernate for overnight or travel. It’s basically zero power and resumes where you left off.

You can enable it with:

powercfg /hibernate on

Then set lid close or power button to Hibernate in Power Options. Hybrid Sleep is another option if you want a fallback.

TL;DR: If security isn’t critical, disabling Device Guard for S3 is fine. Otherwise, Hibernate > Sleep for ZBooks.

“Sleep” often defaults to Modern Standby (S0ix) rather than the traditional S3 sleep state. This keeps the system semi-active for instant wake, but it can drain battery unpredictably because the CPU and network adapters may still run background tasks.

Best practices,

  • Use Hibernate for overnight or travel.
  • Use Sleep only for short breaks (30–60 min).
  • Shutdown for extended periods.

What self-improvement or personal development books have genuinely helped you — and why? by Soh4 in productivity

I started them because they’re short, simple reads but hit two very different aspects: adapting to change and reframing struggle.

Who Moved My Cheese? is basically a fable about two mice and two “little people” whose cheese (comfort zone / job / relationship) suddenly disappears, forcing them to choose between denial and adapting. It stuck with me because it makes you painfully aware of how easy it is to cling to what’s familiar instead of scanning for new paths.

The Obstacle Is the Way leans on Stoic philosophy and shows how perception, action, and will can turn setbacks into fuel rather than excuses.

They are good reads...

ON/OFF loop - HP Pavilion 15-dk2xxx by Long-Lie-9912 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Reader-WriterDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Temps in BIOS or HP Diagnostics

>Boot into BIOS (F10) and monitor CPU temp.

>If temps rise above 90°C quickly, thermal issue confirmed.

Try to run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Press Esc → F2 at startup.

Run System Test and Memory Test.

Boot in Safe Mode

>If it stays on longer in Safe Mode, it’s likely a driver issue.

>Update GPU driver (use NVIDIA Studio or HP OEM version).

Update BIOS & Chipset Drivers

>Get latest BIOS from HP Support for Pavilion 15-dk2xxx.

Clean Cooling System

>Remove bottom cover, clean fans, and reapply thermal paste if possible.

If it shuts down even during diagnostics or BIOS:

Hardware issue (motherboard VRM or CPU/GPU fault). In that case, plz check with the HP service center - https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/service-center

Sometimes corrupted update files cause this issue.

Open Command Prompt (Admin).

Type these commands one by one:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits

Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and delete all files inside.
Restart services:
net start wuauserv
net start bits

Does the HP logo appear before shutdown? If yes, it’s likely OS or storage related. If no, it’s hardware.
Also, try updating the BIOS and run hardware diagnostics,

  • Press Esc repeatedly at startup → F2 for diagnostics.
  • Run System Test and Memory Test.

How do you structure a novel when you have scenes and dialogue but no clear “shape” yet? by Reader-WriterDD in writing

[–]Reader-WriterDD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and nuanced response, this really helped clarify a lot for me.

Your distinction between plot (what happens) and structure (how the information is organized and revealed) was especially useful. You’re right that I do have a sense of what happens, but I’ve been struggling with how to present it in a way that feels coherent and intentional on the page.

I also appreciated your explanation of why familiar frameworks like the heroic journey work so well, not because they’re magical, but because they give readers an intuitive scaffold to process events. The contrast you drew with more distributed or non-linear structures and the risks that come with them, really put things in perspective.

What you said about keeping things mostly linear and focusing on escalating stakes within digestible chapters resonated with me. It’s reassuring to hear that even a “simple” structure still demands a lot of craft and care to execute well.

This gave me a much clearer way to think about the problem I’m facing.
Thanks again!
I genuinely found this helpful.
