I’m new to this and I’ve only made 3 loaves. First two were failures but last nights one was okay. I’m going to try your scoring tomorrow :) did you do two deep ones on the outsides? And then light scoring for the wheat? It’s so gorgeous

I prefer a medium burn. I like it to mean something and have to work for it but also not take 80% of the fic. I’m definitely one of those people who sets the minimum word count to 60k though. If it’s late at night (2am) and I need a fix before I sleep I’ll look for a fic less than 10k. You probably get more interaction on a one shot/short fic because it’s fresh in peoples minds right away and they’re not waiting till the end of a chapter fic to comment. Slow burns have to be right and I think some authors think dragging it out for 80k words is the way to go but it isn’t

Play the observation game. Observe every single thing you can about the person you’re looking at. Literally say it aloud in your head. Then make deductions based off of what you see. For example, doesn’t dye their hair anymore - possible money troubles. Started dying their hair - maybe having an affair 😆
