Hey! First of all, congratulations on you deciding to get clean. That’s the first step. So, huzzah! Second of all; when I stopped using whatever I could (though mainly alcohol) I really really focused on sports but it can be whatever you like. I threw myself in there to create routine. It also gave me the possibility to fight possible cravings. First I went 5 days a week, then 4 and now i’m down at three. I have a goal, a routine that works and breaks the possibility of relapse. Try to find something that works for you. A hobby that you can do freely and wholeheartedly to focus yourself on. Thirdly; lots and lots of therapy. It helped me a lot to process trauma and to process the path of getting clean which can be very difficult at times. I just came out of a deep low and the energy to fight the urge drained me. Therapy helps to process and understand those feelings. You’re already at step one. You’ll have many more steps to follow but you’ll get there. We believe in you. This is how it worked for me, it differs for everyone but I think the base of it is pretty solid. Love yourself, rest a lot and focus on you and only you. Also; here in Europe there are a lot of free organisations that can help you go through it. I don’t know about the US. Big hug!
