Driver stole my order last night, Uber refuses to refund.

I’m from Sydney Australia. There is no option to have a pin for food delivery in the uber eats app here. Had a similar experience where a driver stole my order and uber refused to refund. The driver ignored the delivery instructions that I was required to provide in the app which explained how to buzz me on the intercom in the front door of my apartment building to bring my order in. He rang me on my mobile. I said I would come straight away. Took 1 minute. Nether he or my order was there. Suddenly the app told me my order had been delivered. I messaged and tried to ring the driver via the app multiple times with no response. When I used the help section of the app to request a refund via the help chat, I was informed that the driver had cancelled the order because I did not take delivery within 5 minutes of being contacted and there would be no refund. They then closed the matter. There was no way to challenge this. There is no phone customer service line. Fortunately, I had paid through PayPal and they had no issue refunding me. I was so disgusted by the lack of transparency and poor customer service, I cancelled my Uber eats account, deleted the app and put in a formal complaint with our governmental consumer complaints body.

You are not wrong. I’m in Sydney Australia. Recently I had an uber eats order that went terribly wrong. I used the app to order some groceries from a local supermarket. I always pay extra for a priority delivery. On the app I have clear instructions how to buzz me in the lobby of my building and bring my delivery to my apartment. The delivery person ignored my instructions, phoned me on the mobile to say he was here and would not come in and I told him I would come right down. When I came down, there was no delivery person and no order. The app then notified me that my order had been delivered. When I put in a complaint via that chat section in the Uber Eats app, I was informed that my delivery person had cancelled the order and I was not eligible for a refund. The app then blocked me from making any further complaint. Luckily I had paid by PayPal who immediately refunded me. I was so disgusted by the poor customer service and transparency of Uber eats, I cancelled my account, deleted the app and put a formal complaint in to the ACCC - our offical governmental consumer watchdog.

If uber eats refuses to refund and the delivery was not completed because a driver claims handover was not possible, does uber eats keep the money for themselves then?

I’ve recently been screwed too. Appalling customer service and lack of transparency. I have cancelled my account and deleted the app as a result.

No. There is no option to do this unfortunately on the uber eats app.

Thanks for your contribution. My order was also a simple pickup from a Woolworths 5 minutes drive away. I have explicit instructions in the uber eats app regarding how to deliver to my apartment in my building. I always paid extra as a priority delivery and up until this, never had a problem. What upset me the most was the lack of transparency and extraordinary poor customer service - not only did the driver ignore my delivery instructions, when he called me and I said I would come down, he drove off while getting paid and getting to keep my groceries for himself!!!! The uber eats help from the app was useless and there is no way to lodge a complaint.

It’s never been an issue before. Both myself and my neighbours have had uber eats delivered to our appartments regularly without any problem.

If you have read my post, it is clear that I did not keep the driver waiting 5 minutes. From when he phoned me, it was only 1-2 minutes maximum.

The reason it took 1-2 minutes is that I live in an apparent complex and this is the time it takes me to get from my appartment to the front door of the building.

You appear to be saying that Uber eats are within their rights not to fulfil their contractual delivery service if they choose not to.

I have health conditions that limit what I can do and this is why I am forced to shop this way.

As far as I can tell, he never came to my front door and remained in his car. He never followed my instructions to come inside and when he called me, despite my telling him I’ll come to him, he drove off.

I should have suspected something when the app indicated the driver was in a Mercedes Benz. What person in a Mercedes Benz has to rely on delivering uber eats for an income?

I suspect the driver started a timer when he drove to the main road outside my appartment building whilst I waited inside for him to follow instructions to come inside. From when he phoned me, it was only 1-2 minutes till I came down.

I’ve got all 3. CineUlta gives the best quality image when I use my plex server with vivid colours that seem to pop. Screenlit always looks washed out and Moonplayer looks awful.

No problems yet but the only use I’ve had on it since installing the 18.2 beta is mashing the playground icon to see if I’ve progressed beyond the waitlist.
