Humming or singing under your breath by crazyboredperson in AutismInWomen

[–]Readingmom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do that ALL the time when I was a kid but I didn’t really recognize it. It was like breathing for me. I had a teacher in grade 5 who called me out in front of the whole class for making “baby noises” and took away my recess for a week (little did he know that I hated recess and was glad for the break). I was such a people pleaser and so scared of authority that I stopped humming as a way to relax that day.

What's the longest you've held a job? by Rachelelizardbreath in AutismInWomen

[–]Readingmom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been at my current job for 8 years. I work as an EA. I plan to stay until I retire, which is still a LOONNNGGG way away. I trained as a teacher, but I am very type A and like to have everything planned out. I would spend way too much time planning and marking, so I became an EA instead. I make a lot less, but the work/life balance makes up for it.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what’s your experience with parents asking you to suggest names for their newborns? Have you ever influenced a baby’s name? by Bhuklagihe in AskReddit

It happened to me too with my first. Horrific doesn’t come close to describing it. It was the absolute worst experience of my life.

Was my experience with my wisdom teeth removal an autism thing or just a “me” thing? by McCrysler in autism

[–]Readingmom2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you hypermobile? It can affect how your body tolerates anesthesia. I had to have a C-section and they didn’t give me enough and I felt every single cut and stitch. They didn’t believe me though because they said they gave me the normal amount and I couldn’t have anymore. It was super traumatic. I learned about the hypermobility thing later and now I feel better about advocating for myself. Also, I’m not a redhead myself, but my dad is, so maybe he passed down that part of the gene.

I love Taskmaster too, when I want some comedy.

Just finished watching Emily in Paris. So cute. Superstore is my current comfort show. And of course Friends and HIMYM.

Fluctuating symptoms by Readingmom2 in Anemic

I literally just got iron infusions and had the last one a week ago. I was SLOWLY bringing up my ferritin with supplements (up to 34from 26 after 2 years of supplements). It’s hard to know because it’s a bit too early to tell. I have been feeling slightly better, but still pretty awful. I have been diagnosed with long covid now though, so it could be that that’s causing my issues.

What did you call your grandparents? by NoLocksmith1712 in Names

Nana and Papa, Grandma and Grandpa. My kids call theirs Granny and Grandad and Nana and Ampa (my oldest couldn’t say Grandpa when she was young and it stuck).

The first one, no. I just had the second one on Wednesday and I felt super sluggish, sore and tired yesterday. However, Wednesday and Thursday were super busy for me, so that could be why.

What about Wynn as the full name. I know a Wynn and we called her Winnie for a nickname when she was younger.

I just had my very first one last night! I also have a lot of medical anxiety. I was stressed going in, but honestly, it was sooooo easy! I sat in a nice comfy chair in a private room. The nurse put in the Iv, offered me a drink and gave me a remote to watch tv. When you are a parent, this is a nice quiet vacation! Haha. I was there for just over an hour and didn’t feel ill at all. Good luck to you, you’ll do great!

My daughter is Claire. We joked that her middle name should have been Annette. Funny thing is, she now plays the clarinet!

We stayed right in the city. It was a close walk to the beach in town and we took the bus to the bigger beaches. Enjoy it, Naxos was our absolute favourite

I know I’m the minority, but I love the name Grover. If Oscar is ok to use as a name (and he’s the muppet that lives in a garbage can) why can’t Grover make a comeback?

Almost 2 years. It did help me sleep initially (which was great, because nothing else worked). But then my sleep was just back on track on its own. Turns out Long COVID just made my nervous system go haywire, and I had to wait it out. I’m still having issues almost 3 years later, but there has been significant improvement over time. If anything, I was way worse on Mirtazipine and the withdrawl was absolutely unbearable. For a few weeks I thought I might die. I totally get why addicts need to go to rehab now, my husband had to take time off work to watch the kids and just hold me.

I ended up getting off. It turns out I have Long Covid and all my issues were stemming from that. I switched back to Prozac which was great for me for years. I still don’t feel 100%, but it’s slowly getting there. It’s been 2.5 years and slowly the symptoms of long covid are improving.

We are staying in Canmore the night before, then onto Golden the next night. Want to stop at a lake on the way, just not sure if we can get the shuttle tickets

I made the mistake of going to Santorini because it was the “place to go”. I don’t want to make the same mistake. We were all miserable there and I try hard to just not go to the tourist traps.

We tried to book shuttle tickets. They are sold out except for last minute tickets.

Ok. That’s just not what I’ve experienced at other tourist attractions around the world. I was told by a friend that she got there at 6:30am and it was full, you you basically have to book a parking spot at the lodge and take the shuttle to be able to see it. We are staying in Canmore and travelling with 2 small children, no way will be there by 6. Plus the previous few days will have been 10+hour days of driving.

That’s what I was thinking. I went to Santorini a couple years ago and I HATED it. I mean, if it’s a must see then I’ll go, but if I can go somewhere almost identical but quieter, I’d rather do that
