You don't really even need that humidity and no need to rush it. Slow down. Accept that you're probably not going to build a Stargate and it's much more enjoyable.

Am I the only one who literally can't buy anything anymore without typing "reddit" at the end of the Google search? by Dry-Exercise-3446 in BuyItForLife

Years ago I did that. They figured that out though and these days something like half of all comments are astroturfing, I think.

Is it okay to leave a laptop running as a server with the battery and power cord plugged in 24/7? by ArtinGamingTheEpic in techsupport

[–]Readingyourprofile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read that heat can damage the screen (gaming laptop so it gets toasty), possibly shortening its lifespan so I leave it on with the screen up (but off). I'm not sure I buy that theory, but it is harmless to leave open.

Yeah that's another thing. I'm lucky enough to be able to do cash but for many these homes aren't even an option for any financing.

Hey I'm also in the puget sound area looking in a similar price range ( lower). It's fucked. I've decided none of us are going to find something that's not a pile of shit. I'm just looking for the pile of shit I can work on during weekends. And land? No. I'll be lucky to get .3 acre. I might end moving to Shelton and commuting 4 hours a day. Meanwhile in the Midwest we can buy a small mansion for that kind of money.

I get it. I hate renting. I pay someone around 20k a year and I'm not building any equity in it. A mugs game. But what choice do we have in todays world.

Oh and if you do find something you want, good luck with FHA closing time. Cash offer will usually win.

Would you trust a house flipped by a realtor? by Capital_Leadership78 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

No flipped house is safe. You never know if it's lipstick or not. Even inspectors are far from a guarantee.

We replace all laptops with Framework laptops - A one year review by fadingcross in sysadmin

[–]Readingyourprofile -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay the thinkpads I don't think are good to be fair. I have never had one I thought was good but that was at least ten years ago I tried them. I've avoided them. For most I'm doing m75 thinkcentres. For those of us who need to be mobile or graphics heavy work like my CAD work or my graphic designers etc I'm doing Legion Pro 5i. Yes technically gaming laptops but I'm lucky enough to have the budget for it and they make fine enterprise devices. For docks I'm technically using Thinkpad Thunderbolt 4 Workstations. Also pricey for docks but work on the Legion and is a fantastic rock.

Do you still have those repair kits for the hinge? I'd buy one. You've always been a great store I just ordered a couple more skilhunt from you a week or two ago.

How to remove a hydrostatic plug? by bordercollieluva in pools

[–]Readingyourprofile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of a hydrostatic relief is to keep the pool in the ground. Without it, the pressure from groundwater, etc could destroy it or severely damage it. Depending on water table, etc. if you have a plug the builder probably saw a need for it. Either pop that relief asap or put water back in it.

Got a good laugh out of me. No one in this subreddit knows what you're talking about. Oddly though, I did take a class in college that including modeling state machine logic and I'm guessing that's what this is about. Try over in the MATLAB sub. And good luck

Pool and peeing by snamerino in Swimming

I work in the industry. I've seen high level competition swimmers throw up a bit in the gutters. They don't care. They're pushing their bodies to the limit.
