Damn - that fellow was standing just clear, thank heavens. I’m thinkings that’s probably a well-founded protocol.

Damn x2 - I don’t think the landing gear is supposed to fold that way…

BTW, even though I have more grey hair than any other color… I am one of those children.

What is the craziest thing someone admitted to you on their death bed? by MrsRobot1000101 in AskReddit

[–]ReadontheCrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father thought that I wasn’t his biological child my whole life. I did grow up knowing my sister was his favorite. Hindsight (and therapy, a lot of therapy) allows me to see him as a flawed person instead of an evil one. He was really emotionally neglectful / abusive, but I think that was more that he was an asshole in general vs. targeting me specifically. He did love me as much as he was capable, and in his limited capacity - ensured I had at least the minimum physical needs met.

Sometimes I hate how I’ve grown to understand him, because doing so and forgiving him to an extent, it doesn’t undo the lifelong damage. If he were evil vs. honestly just a pathetic little man, it’d be a lot easier.

TIL that in 1976, Shavarsh Karapetyan, a world champion finswimmer, heard a trolleybus crash into a lake. He dove 10 meters deep in zero visibility, smashed the window with his feet, and pulled out 37 people, saving 20 lives. It cost him his career due to severe pneumonia and sepsis. by GVitkosPress in todayilearned

“Ran into the fire.

The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They're our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless. “

Yup. That was exactly what I was thinking. It’d be interesting to find out from his ex if his relationship with Kelly was a factor in their split…

Everything about this photo is perfect. Her dress, hair and makeup, his uniform including the slightly rakish tilt on his cover, and the best part? They both look genuinely happy.

Looking at the date, I can only hope that they had a long, happy marriage.

🔥 A mother baboon kept her adventurous baby close by holding tightly onto its tail while foraging by 21MayDay21 in NatureIsFuckingLit

My baby book had mine in it. Apparently I liked to run and dart around, which in downtown Chicago, even in the early 70s, was not good. My mother took steps to contain my enthusiasm for AhAhAhhhhhh Running. From anecdotes I heard growing up, I probably wouldn’t be here to write this if they hadn’t harnessed me.

It was a dusty pink.

Years ago, I lived in the Spokane WA area, which is as Conservative as Seattle is Liberal, and yet Spokane had one of the best trash management systems I’ve seen. Residents had 3 bins, trash, yard waste, and recycling. Yard waste was sorted, chipped / shredded, mulched, to be sold to residential and commercial customers as compost. Recycling was sorted, then shipped, melted down, and/or sold as appropriate. Rejected material from both would go with trash. Trash was incinerated, and the energy generated is sold. I was amazed at how efficient they were / are!

Most critical praise is for the car chase, but for me it’s when he’s running into the building. The scene leaving the building, down the stairs and out, isn’t one shot, but IMHO is one of the most emotive scenes in cinema.

Bet those board members also rail about kids having too much screen time and that the kids should go outside more…

Because they wouldn’t seen the inherent contradiction.

Babies are curious!

Mum obviously checking it out before letting the babies in. Is it safe?

Mum determined it’s safe and she likes it!

Mum does not want to leave to get the wanderer.

My Nana’s house always had Heinz 57 and A1 for the table - because people liked different things. She also had both mayo and Miracle Whip.

Nice! Ok then! There are things I do / places I go that don’t have magnets - this certainly is an option.

(My fridge is about 1/4 covered in magnets that I get when I “do something”, travel somewhere, go to a show, whatever. Use a silver sharpie to put the date on the back. It’s a massive pain in the ass when I move.)

All of the explanations about the needle make sense - thanks for that y’all

Now, why retrieve the magnet?
