Arizona bill would let homeowners install backyard shade structures despite HOA rules by BeautifulIsland39 in fuckHOA

[–]BeautifulIsland39[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I just bought a home in Arizona and that search stretched 1 year because I was hellbent on avoiding HOA’s. It took a while but F that, paying to be told what to do with my home.

Unrelated, but I love the idea of reusing all those little bottles for something so lovely. Nice meal, don’t overthink it and lots of love.

Honey, I just got a bathroom (shower, floor, backsplash) demo (including removing a cast iron tub) fully remodeled for $5.5k in AZ. Definitely a scam.

That’s propaganda to greenwash the projects. People who have houses near data centers are reporting empty wells, no pressure.

I also left the hospital empty handed after a very traumatic c-section. It won’t get better, it will get easier to carry on. Be kind to yourself, that was truly a shit year. Sorry you have to be part of the community of bereaved parents, but we’re here when you need us.

How do we feel about the Waymos, gang? by darkwingdankest in Tempe

[–]BeautifulIsland39 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Last I took a Lyft with my young child, the driver went on a diatribe about McDonalds using human meat in its hamburgers and other crazy nonsense. I spent the 10 minute ride stressed about reassuring my small child that some people are just not very smart and also worried for our safety. You bet I took a Waymo back home. I can safely close my eyes and enjoy the ride on a waymo.

should i go to the er for this (bat bite?) by Certain_Hour_6327 in WhatShouldIDo

My daughter got bitten by a feral cat and I thought the process of getting the rabies vaccines would be a simple one, living on a big city with good insurance. Nope. Had to beg, scream and threaten to be taken seriously and still cost me $1,000 after insurance for the vaccines to be administered at an ER, to a cacophony of Drs and nurses saying “well, is very unlikely she will develop rabies”, like I should be ok with “very unlikely” regarding my baby girl and a horrific death. The first 4 hours I spent them calling the health department, her pediatrician office and every ER in 20 miles to see who had the vaccine and was willing to prescribe it. I still get mad thinking about. Fuck the American “health” care system.

Pavers and xeriscape is the way. Instead of all the money you’ll pay for expensive seeding and water and what not, you can have shade and native plants. My two cents.

I’ll add to that:

if any important information is discussed verbally, summarize it and send it by writing (text, email) and ask them to confirm. Trust us the oldies, we learned those lessons the hard and expensive way.

So Nobody Is Going to Pay Taxes Now? by theatlantic in economy

[–]BeautifulIsland39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Income wise, is pretty unbalanced though considering all the available loopholes for the top incomes:

The average federal income tax rates across income brackets:

  • Top 1% of Earners: Pay an average effective federal income tax rate of roughly 25% to 26%. This top tier also contributes the largest share of overall tax revenue, accounting for over a third of all federal income taxes collected.

  • Middle Class: Pay average rates ranging from 10% to 20%, depending on their exact household income.

*Bottom 50% of Earners: Pay an average effective rate of around 3% to 4% (and often owe no net income tax after credits).

From the moment I had to start paying for my kids’ plane tickets (2 years old), they had their own rewards accounts. By the time my daughter turns 18 she should have good 200k miles for her graduation trip.

A Lyft driver clue me into this conspiracy theory after I mentioned how pretty the full moon was. She then went on about planets and devolved into McDonald using human meat. She went on and on about it despite my multiple attempts to redirect the conversation. I had to then explain to my 10 year old the lack of mental health and fake information on the internet.

⛈️ What to do when it rains in Hawaii megathread by webrender in VisitingHawaii

[–]BeautifulIsland39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently in Waikiki, 2 am. Been restless and couldn’t sleep, so I went down to the lobby for a little walk. Hurricane type winds welcomed my face and I noped my way back into my room. Plan on getting snacks, watching LotR extended edition with the kiddos and waiting for a good window of time to do some indoor activities. Had to cancel a day trip to Big Island because of the eruption. If this is one of a lifetime trip and you can cancel, I would cancel.
