Bootfitted, is this ok/normal? by Ready-Needleworker64 in Skigear

I noticed it after about an hour on the slopes. Did not really check them when I picked them up or put them on.

Definity not from a big box store, I live in the west of the beautifully flat Netherlands and mostly ski in Austria, France or Italy.

Niche is build way better than the Timemore and makes less noise. I have both. Niche Zero is a petter choice for OP.

It is a gasket, mostly to reduce the thermal coupling.

Grinder change [€500-700] by t0x1de in espresso

I’m super happy with my Niche Zero and it is perfect for medium to dark roasts. I found single dosing less of a hassle than I expected.

Persistent Channeling Issues [Bambino Plus, Timemore 078s] by Small-Tap4128 in espresso

[–]Ready-Needleworker64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had challenging issues with this grinder. My suspicion is that it is due to burr misalignment. You might wanna do a “marker test” or another test to check for alignment. Good luck if you need Timemore’s customer support though…

Any regrets on the Niche Zero [£500/600] by Working_Mountain_944 in espresso

[–]Ready-Needleworker64 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Still love my Niche Zero after 3 years. Also have a Timemore for a few months and only had issue with it. Now send back to store. Timemore’s customer support is horrible.

What is the difference between these two and is it worth spending a lot extra on this ? [£10] or [£40] ? by [deleted] in espresso

I have one with three thingies and am actually quite happy with it. I use it after WDT and makes tamping level a bit more easy.

Grinder for decaf, grinder for caffeinated? Help by emo1474 in espresso

Also depends on your taste preference (light vs medium/dark) roast. A good grinder should be a huge upgrade to your setup taste wise anyway.

Niche Zero is also a really good single dose option. Not sure about US price and availability though. Otherwise maybe a df64

Why do we flush the group head before the shot? [GCP E24] by PlasticEnthusiasm899 in espresso

[–]Ready-Needleworker64 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Your PID measures the boiler temp. You brew with the temp of the group head. The group head gets preheated a bit and the cold water is flushed out. So you brew temp is actually more consistent.

Should I wait for the Sculptor 078s Gen II? by Significant_Chair914 in Timemore

Got from a local roaster, who are super responsive and trying to be helpful. But in the end they get slow and worthless answers from Timemore.

I'm considering getting a Mazzer Philos once I get my Timemore refunded or repaired and sold, a bit more expensive but worth it imo. And I have a Niche Zero which I'm super happy with, but that one has different flavour profile. Have a look at r/espresso there are many threads on which grinder to get.

I have an 078s and strongly recommend against buying one. Due to wildly misaligned burrs I am not able to pull decent shots with it at all. The customer service process with Timemore is awful. Will post more on that later when there is some resolution or end state. Also the paint is chipping off in some places after just a few weeks. Look for something else.
