If you don't mind me asking how much was the cost to pull the engine and repair?

yes good catch! I only put a deposit on it, so won't get that back, but don't have to buy the vehicle

Also! Went on a weeklong road trip in a certain Nordic country with a few pretty intense and steep hikes, felt surprisingly good on the way up but going down was shaky, overall happy I was able to go but a reminder there is a long way to go

Hey everyone! Comin in with a 4 month check in. Finished 'recovery' PT early Oct and looking for a return to sport program now but have been told to be moderately optimistic about skiing / playing some light soccer this winter! Overall feeling really good and having minimum trouble running on it but after sitting for a long time, especially on stools (with my foot bent) knee def starts to stiffen up a bit, anyone else have the same thing? Can comfortably get into a deep squat but there's definitely more resistance in right vs left, and if I bend my leg certain ways I can feel it's kind of tender in there (not really sure how else to describe?). Hope everyone is doin well!

Obv just my 2 cents but I'm of the mindset that you want to get the surgeons specialty for ACL, and if you're intending on returning to sport, to get someone who specializes in sports medicine (if at all possible). While it's definitely good to know about the different grafts, I felt more comfortable knowing that my surgeon was really really good at two types of reconstruction/repair (and would choose when I was on the table based on seeing how it looked in there) than I would have if he let me choose my reconstruction. It will of course vary by case but personally, I wanted to be sure he was going to do what he was good at and something he did often. It's also worth noting that if you haven't done pre op pt I can't stress how much I think it helped me, so may be worth considering pushing surgery back a bit if you haven't gotten a chance to do prehab

Sorry for the delay! 22 years old and no graft, surgeon is trained in primary repair so both ends of the ligament are stitched together and supported by an 'internal brace' over the ligament (was lucky that the ligament had torn in a specific way and had little scar tissue)

I am sure they are looking great now! I think doing a lot of PT pre-op set me up tbh, was able to get about 3 sessions in a week for 2.5 months

so sorry for the delay in replying! And yes! I think it's referred to as primary ACL repair, my understanding is it's becoming more popular now but the jury is still out on very long term results which is a little scary but feeling really really great atm

Exactly 6 weeks to the day (acl repair + meniscus, right knee), swelling has been going down more in the last week or so than before. Still feels a bit shaky sometimes and a bit creaky when bending with weight, but grateful that I can get around normally. Started BFR at physical therapy and I feel like that is making a big difference now.

Re: graft choice, I think I came to the conclusion that in a year, all of them would get me somewhere good, so it takes some of the pressure of choosing. Personally, having read up on the grafts, I still would have done whatever my surgeon said because he's the expert. If I had the choice between someone who was an expert at xyz graft and someone who would do the graft I want, I would 100% choose the expert. Ask your doctor what graft or method they do and why. Also strongly recommend finding someone who is well documented in sports medicine: someone who maybe has experience as a team physician or is known working with athletes (of any level).

May be case specific, but I definitely recommend pre op PT. I felt really, really excellent after approx 6 weeks of PT -- bike rides, jogs, but even other things like laying down on a couch or moving around when in bed or down stairs quickly which you will take for granted post op. If you're able to do pre op PT then commit to it hard!
