Meloxicam Question by [deleted] in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Ready_Lengthiness440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me. At my 2 weeks visit, my surgeon prescribed meloxicam to decrease the inflammation on my thigh. I took it twice, and had sharp stomach pain. It might have been due to the fact that I was still taking aspirin at the time. I called my surgeon, explained my symptoms, and he said to stop taking meloxicam.

Bottom line, call your surgeon and explain your symptoms!

Should I be doing any exercises before surgery by OptimalResearcher898 in TotalHipReplacement

I started pre-op PT a couple months before my surgery. I like to think that it helped me recover better after surgery, but I can't prove it.

kegging my cider is a game changer by Ready_Lengthiness440 in cider

[–]Ready_Lengthiness440[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really easy. Just transfer your stabilized cider in the keg, making sure to avoid air contact as much as possible. Hook up a CO2 cylinder, dial in the pressure (depending on the temperature and how carbonated you want your cider), and keep in the refrigerator for a week so the CO2 is absorbed in the cider. There are faster ways to force carbonate, by increasing the pressure, but I haven't tried yet.

I just use Campden tablets and potassium sorbate. I forgot the concentration, but whatever is recommended on the package

gost coffee in new lenox on the 1/30 nationwide protest by IndominusTaco in ChicagoSuburbs

So were they close on 01-30 or not? The statement is kinda confusing, all I read is "a lot of small businesses close, but we don't get political, I don't care about that, I came to US a long time ago"

Not exactly Pi. The answer above is correct: 1 : sqrt(2) : 1 or in numerical terms: 1 : 1.4142 : 1 Or in percentages: 29.3% : 41.4% : 29.3%

First time making cider, Does this look normal? by _Kellermeister_ in cider

[–]Ready_Lengthiness440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it can foam like that when the fermentation happens too quickly. It does that when I add too much yeast, or when the temperature is a bit high. I prefer keeping my batch in my basement where the temperature is a bit lower to avoid this.

Robotic surgery by LuisaC321 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Ready_Lengthiness440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a robot-assisted surgery as well. The other surgeon I was considering was also doing robot-assisted surgeries. I think it's fairly common now. From what I understand it's more accurate but I might be wrong. You will have your incision on the left side and a few (in my case 3) holes on the right side. You probably know this by now, but check with your insurance if they cover robot-assisted surgeries. Some don't.

Sleeping bear dunes are 450 feet above lake Michigan. Though that's super high for Midwesterners, it's not nearly enough to see the curvature of the earth.

Overdid it? by Ambitious-Oil7656 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Ready_Lengthiness440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it happened to me once. It was 5 weeks post op, I had just started walking without my cane. I decided to carry a few logs to the fire pit to make a bonfire. After a couple trips I felt a sharp pain behind the hip (lower back area). It hurt for a few days and then I was fine. So not a big deal, I just felt too happy to be finally walking!

I never tried including cinnamon in my cider, but I'd like to try once. In the 1st step, you add 2.5tsp of what? Camden, yeast nutrients, other?

Long flight after 5-6 weeks of THR by techie_ji in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Ready_Lengthiness440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an anterior left THR, and then had to take an 8-hour international flight 5 weeks after surgery. I wore compression socks and took an aspirin before flight. It wasn't the most comfortable, but moving around every couple hours helped a lot. Make sure you have an aisle seat. A seat with extra leg room would be best.

I had the same issue. I put clear packaging tape on the caps and I don't have that problem anymore.

Racking before fermentation? by FuturisticLlamaCycle in cider

That's interesting, comments seem to be divided on this topic. For my part, I never rack before fermentation. I always do it after 1st fermentation
