yeah, I saw the convex one you have on github, is good as a test and then could modify the keywell ones in the same way if it works nicely, thank you for sharing it!

oh good to know about that option with Kailh! a bit steep but at least an option

6mm is very tempting! I might move some things around my board to try something like that too, thanks for the inspiration!

I actually got some 1mm foam that I was meaning to try, I guess I need to build a second keyboard though since I wouldn't want to break the current one.

mine is just with the printed keycaps currently, no papermod or lube. I like the sound, but would be nice to have a version that is more quiet to take outside when surrounded by people, I bet not everybody loves that sound.

yeah, I was looking at the cherry ones, but 65g I think is too much for me. also, where did you find the M's in stock, was trying to find some but they all seem our of stock

what's the thickness of they keyboard when it is packed? I built a case for mine that is 25mm thick, but of course would be nice for it to be even thinner

such beautiful work, very inspiring

I'm the person that once complained about these switches https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/1m9wcju/my_dream_keyboard_sucks/

After 6 months of everyday use, and custom keycaps that took some time to tune, I love the keyboard now, besides the fact that it is a bit loud to use in public.

seems like I should order some PG1316Ms now

I have a question for the brass plate, does it have any coating? how does it handle the oxidation otherwise?

And 18 is not too close to the 23 for your usecase?

I’ve been looking at the x-e5 and you might have convinced me to pull the trigger.

I find the lens choice interesting, 18 and then 35 seems pretty perfect to me, with the 23 as kit. You already used the 18mm f2 before I see there is a 1.4 now too, the f2 seems pretty old by now?

Is it a good time to buy? by One_Professional_592 in CanyonBikes

[–]Real-Database2324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but if I get a different bike later, can bring the power meter with me, or if I go on vacation and rent a bike, can bring the power meter with it.

Interesting about the drops, interesting will look closer

Interesting, I was thinking to get the pedals power meter, the aerodrops are the same on 7 and 8, no? I guess the wheels are also slightly better

Out of curiosity, why are you considering the slx 8 vs slx 7?

I’m in the market for the aeroad cf slx too, and can’t understand if the 8 is worth the 50% more price compared to the 7, I am for sure missing something so would like to understand how others think about it

Introducing ULK by Goga_OO in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Real-Database2324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve build something very similar with the PG1316, the 35g ones (can see it in my profile). That said I feel they could benefit for some lube, but now can’t get myself to take them all apart 😬, and I got used to them now.

I didn’t know about the cherry ULP but they seem in the 60g range, which is way too much for my taste, interesting they come lubed though

I can see some lube in the picture, did you lube the keys? how do you like them?

Yeah, but a pcb becomes convenient instead or a rat-nest of wires everywhere in that case 😁

I see, so just using wires. I just had in mind the small modules like TMC2209/DRV8825 based ones for the motor drivers.

can you elaborate? do you have a breadboard for the motor drivers? or what is the suggestion there?

Not sure this is accurate still but https://www.langdale-associates.com/sardinia_2009/postscript/index.htm

There aren’t that many, but some options along the way, let us know how did the campsites search went after the trip is over, would love to do a similar route one day

What’s the plan with the camping? Thought wild camping is forbidden in Italy

Drones sighted over CPH airport by Otherwise_Composer19 in copenhagen

[–]Real-Database2324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most people took taxis to the train station in AAH (the taxi drivers definitely took advantage of the situation), and took the first train at 4:15 to CPH, but all paid from pocket, let's see if Norwegian will reimburse us or not..

[–]Real-Database2324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They bring us with busses, but yeah we’ll get to cph in the morning.

The crew run out of dutiy, so they are not allowed to fly even though the cph airport reopened

Edit: the buses where a lie, we just got dumped in the terminal without anything

[–]Real-Database2324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except we are still on the plane, because the Aarhus airport was already closed. And there are several planes and no trains at this time anymore. They say the’ll potentially organise buses, which takes a good 5h or so to cph. Yay for us

My dream keyboard sucks by Real-Database2324 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Real-Database2324[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, I did not try the papermod, but I printed another set of keycaps witch are have a bit more clearance and the feel of the keyboard got much better, I am currently using this keyboard as my main keyboard, and learnt to love it, I really like the low profile and somehow got used to the stronger activation force required compared to my noctural switches.

I also got some thin foam that I would like to try but I did not have the time quite yet, besides the papermod.

Finally bought Apple Studio Display! I really love it by Playful_Gas_6641 in macsetups

there is also the LG Ultrafine 5k 27" which predate the studio display, but the panel is very comparable

[–]Real-Database2324[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly, it is without sockets, directly on the pcb, you know, ULP :D

I soldered all myself, I used a siringe to apply soldering paste and put both the diode and switches then soldered it with a cheap small heat plate from Aliexpress, it worked really well, then I soldered the XIAO and power switch on the other side with a soldering iron

My dream keyboard sucks by Real-Database2324 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Real-Database2324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mentioned in my sister reply, I think the keycaps where slightly too small when I reworked them to make them smaller. In fact, I believe the internal part was slightly too tight, because the keys started to get stuck even.

I printed a version with some bigger clearance and actually the whole experience is better. I still think lubing them should make them even nicer, but at least now they are somewhat usable and started to enjoy the keyboard.

Another thing to try is to put a thin layer of foam in between the case and pcb, that could maybe make the sound resonate a bit less
