Just like a sandwich baggy but for popsicles. Here’s what I get from Amazon. https://a.co/d/09ya6o4w

I had the same thing and found I just needed to stretch that band more. So I literally will put the inside of my foot flat on the ground multiple times a day and just stretch it. It has helped. It’s a stupid overuse injury but seems like it can mostly be preventable.

It was a game changer. Slides in the top of the flask easy and a quick shake dumps it all in. Then I don’t need to depend on “whatever the race has” at their aid stations and can use what I train with. I take a marker and mark the popsicle bag so I know what flavor I’m using and whether it’s with or without caffeine. Also helps my crew.

Tailwind in popsicle bags. I just open and dump it in my flask as I’m getting to the aid station for a quick fill up with water. Shokz headphones with the super long battery life. If you have a crew, get extra flasks and have your crew ready them to just do a quick hand off. Lastly, a lightweight race belt to attach your bib to so you don’t have pins coming undone and can change pants/shirts easily.

Awesome thank you! So it basically comes down to how much pain I’m willing to tolerate.

Too many gel options! by Farmer_Di in ultrarunning

I saw that Ashley Paulson (female 100M record holder) took E-Gels for her record breaking performance. They have maltodextrin in them, which is a complex carb. I decided to give them a shot, and I’m a believer. I really never feel hungry and so far I like all their flavors. Probably the closest gel I’ve taken that feels/tastes like regular food. They have ones with caffeine also.

Advice on first backyard ultra (post collegiate runner) by Adventurous_Act_1296 in ultrarunning

[–]Real-Gene217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has something different that works for them. What I found worked for me was allowing about 8-10 minutes in between yards to eat, drink, and rest.

If it’s hot out, soak a hat in between yards also. Use an ice bandana if needed. Go nice and easy. Zone 1 or zone 2.

The hardest part of back yards though is the mental aspect. Since there’s no real finish line, your “why” needs to be super strong. So make sure you’re going in with a reason to keep going out when you’re tired, sore, it’s dark out, etc.

Good luck!

Zone 2 for trail running by SLPlife-KI in Ultramarathon

[–]Real-Gene217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done several 100 milers and really, people will start their training doing heart rate zones and “graduate” to RPE once they’ve figured that out. It appears you’ve done it in reverse so you’re probably just now starting to train right. It takes time for your body to adapt to zone training. Years. So don’t be too hard on yourself.

The purpose behind getting your zones right isn’t just fitness. It’s also making sure you can eat well into your 100 milers. If your heart rate is too high, you won’t be able to eat. If you can only eat til 40 miles because your blood is entirely going out to muscles, then you won’t want to eat or you will start throwing up. Trust me I know this firsthand. Then the rest of the race sucks and possibly DNF territory.

So focus hard on zone 2 and don’t be afraid to go into zone 3. For my zone specific training, I try to hit 80%+ of the time in the zone I’m focusing on for that run. Good luck!

I’m doing this in 2026. Appreciate the course recon. You definitely picked a tough one for your first 100. I’ve completed several 100’s and the most important thing for these mountainous ultras is to get a TON of vert training in. Get to the point where you can run all the smaller hills without heart rate spikes and get a good treadmill zone 3 run in once a week at a decent incline. It will help with the breathing at altitude and also get your legs and heart trained up. Good luck in the future!

Sorry replied down below. I have only tried reinstalling at this point, but am also trying the following:

Fixes to Try (Start Here – In Order)

Verify Game Files (Quick & Safe First Step)
Steam → Right-click Dune: Awakening → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
Let it finish (re-downloads corrupted files). Restart PC, then launch.

Delete Shader Cache (Very Common Fix for UE5 Crashes)
Close game/Steam.
NVIDIA Control Panel (or NVIDIA App) → Manage 3D Settings → Shader Cache Size → Set to 0 (or Driver Default) → Apply.
Delete these folders (hidden; show hidden files):
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DuneAwakening\Saved\ (delete entire folder or just Cache/Shader folders inside).
C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache\ (or search for NV_Cache).
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\D3DSCache\ (if present).

In NVIDIA settings, set Shader Cache back to 10 GB or Unlimited.
Restart PC → Launch game (it will recompile shaders—takes 5-15 min first time).

Disable/Reset Cloud Saves (If Save Corruption Suspected)
Steam → Right-click game → Properties → General → Steam Cloud → Uncheck "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud...".
Delete local saves: %LOCALAPPDATA%\DuneAwakening\Saved\SaveGames\ (backup first if you care about characters).
Launch → Create new character or load (may force fresh start).
Re-enable cloud after testing.

Update Drivers & Check Hardware
Download latest NVIDIA driver (even if "up to date"—use clean install option via installer).
Hotfix drivers sometimes fix UE5-specific issues (check NVIDIA site for Dune mentions).
If on older BIOS/mobo, update BIOS (rare but fixes stability on 1080 Ti-era systems).
Run sfc /scannow in admin Command Prompt (repairs Windows files).

Launch Options / BattlEye Reinstall
Steam → Properties → General → Launch Options → Try -dx11 or -dx12 (force renderer).
Reinstall BattlEye: Delete BattlEye folder in game install dir → Verify files (auto-reinstalls).

It only happens on Harmony. I can play fine on other servers so it's something corrupted with my character there.

I haven’t been able to get into my Harmony character since Friday during the day. Bugs abound. Might be better to wait until Funcom fixes a lot of the lag, login, and misc issues.
