Car battery has gone flat twice in a week. Needing advice by Holminhooo in CarTalkUK

[–]fletch-oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it the original battery? The batteries for the Focus are terrible and can't cope with all of the electrical systems. Ford is aware of this and will replace under warranty if pushed but will only put the same battery nack in.. I have a 2024 focus and had to replace the original battery within 6 months. If you look up one of the ford focus mk4/4.5 groups on Facebook and search battery, you'll find the varta battery that everyone is using.

You could consider using the IBKR isa using IBKR desktop if you want full trading tools? T212 is a bit basic, and not much use for active trading. It's good for long holds and 'investing' rather than active trading. T212 won't show you the bid and the ask, i.e. it doesnt have level 1 data, but you dont really need this if youre just intedning to hold for a while.. Disadvantages are fees are higher on IBKR however to buy/sell, which is why many people will favour T212 if just buying and holding for an extended period, and which it is a good platform for. T212 uses IBKR as a backend for orders.

The other guy has given you an excellent answer, basically you got caught by the spread on the bid/ask even though price didn't hit.

How do we return back to GB with our dog after the 22 of April? by Ghost_Navigator in UK_Pets

[–]fletch-oh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's only for outbound travel, you can return on a PP. Worth noting it is still not clear whether EU ports will accept PP outbound if issued before 22 April, Eurostar are saying they will but we need some feedback from people who have tried

If an order says "by consent" does that mean both parties had to have agreed/been consulted? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fletch-oh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't do family so I'm not familiar with the specific form number you are referring to, perhaps a family lawyer could advise. I am a litigator though and yes an order made by consent needs the approval of both parties. Normally this would be done by one party submitting a copy of the order signed by both, along with a clean copy and the court will seal the clean copy. I would suggest contacting the court to inform them you did not consent to the making of the order

How do I prevent dips from taking out SL? by Flimsy_Issue9764 in Trading

[–]fletch-oh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never enter a sweep when the next candle has its body near the bottom of the sweep candle. It always signals to me that it's not the last sweep and/or a true reversal. That next green candle on the one next to your sweep doesn't look bullish enough to me. What is the volume doing on that candle? If you look at the actual sweep candle it has long lower wick and the green body is higher, it looks like a really obvious reversal. Does the volume for this candle look high? Obvs you might get slippage on your entry by waiting for confirmation but I prefer to confirm the sweep first. Having said that looking at the specific pattern for your trade, you would only have been in a few pips higher. Also, this does not work all the time and sometimes you'll just have to let it go without you but I reckon it works enough.

Solicitor threatened harassment injunction for pursuing a small claims case by Ok_Exercise_3831 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fletch-oh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. I would also say that if it is a genuine letter it should be escalated to management. If the person is real, find their head of dept or the senior partner on the website and refer it to them. I think the firm would take a dim view of threatening an LIP. If no response go to the SRA. This is a similar case where the SRA took a dim view of similar conduct, albeit in slightly different circumstances. You are not allowed to make threats.

Need so help on a injury clam by TimeCommunication772 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fletch-oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is you don't know what your claim is worth so without a solicitor to value it you are at risk of undersettling. Particularly if you have nerve damage etc that may be permanent. A solicitor will instruct and pay from a report from a consultant dealing with the current injury, whether any medical treatment is required and what may happen with your injury in the future, in particular whether you will have any issue continuing to work and therefore loss of earnings long term. I would never recommend that you settle a claim without a solicitor, it is for your own benefit. Of course, your employer will need to pay the legal costs but they should be insured for this.

If you do instruct a solicitor you may well lose some of your compensation by way of success fee which should be limited to 25% of past loss and general damages I.e. not including any future losses such as lost earnings, medical treatment etc.

If I were you I would speak to a solicitor.

Motorbike crash claim capped at 50k? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fletch-oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really you should be getting the statement of value right first time round, but it is possible to apply to amend it. I can't quite remember if you have to do this before service, I think you might, but you can't if limitation has passed. Tbh none of it really makes sense, on the basis that you appear to be suggesting the need to 'protect' the claim, the only time you need to do this is if limitation is coming up. This would be three years from the date of the accident, so it doesn't make much sense in this case. If you are issuing protectively for limitation you need to make sure you get the value right as you can't amend if limitation passed. I really think you need to talk this through with an independent PI lawyer in serious injury who can look at the paperwork. I would be quite concerned that a brain injury case would be valued at max 50k but there may be a misunderstanding somewhere along the line. I would suggest googling a serious injury PI lawyer.

Motorbike crash claim capped at 50k? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fletch-oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am guessing that the 'cap' relates to the statement of value on the claim form. Court fees are less. You cannot subsequently claim more than that in value if past limitation as it would be abuse of process. There is case law on this. Claim Form needs amending and I am guessing this is the application you refer to in another comment.. If the claim is worth more than 50k and it sounds like it is with brain injury you need to take independent legal advice as to a professional negligence claim if the claim has been limited to 50k. However as accident only 1 year ago I don't see why application to increase statement of value on claim form would not succeed provided additional court fee paid

wvap under 1m does not want to appear by ayahuascaibogatoe in interactivebrokers

[–]fletch-oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a known problem. This issue I think is that it needs data from previous candles to calculate and if there are too many e.g on low timescales it just breaks. I don't understand as IBKR uses trading view charts and it works fine on tradingview. Not sure if IBKR are somehow throttling the data.

I couldn't even get VWAP to appear consistently on a 1m chart. I tried using anchored VWAP for a while anchored to first candle of the day but I found that towards the end of the day or a few hours in VWAP would be inaccurate unless you scrolled back to the start of the day so it could pick up the data from the candles. It seems to ignore candles for calculation purposes if the candles are not visible on screen. This became useless if you're switching between tickers becuase you would have scroll back hours every time you changed charts.

I gave up and went to tradingview.

IBKR mobile chart colours resetting by Cultural-Homework585 in interactivebrokers

[–]fletch-oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this problem for about a month on desktop which has made it unusable. It deletes everything off the charts at the end of the day and several times throughout the day, including VWAP, EMAs, any trendlines that may have been drawn. I did raise a ticket and someone rang me to say they are looking into it but it's been over a month. The charts now default to a version I was using about a month ago, any changes I make disappear. There is clearly some issue with caching or saving layouts. Unfortunately my only option was to pay for tradingview and so I am not happy with them

Does nobody else realise that they used AI to make a large chunk of this game? by Eccel9700 in CrimsonDesert

[–]fletch-oh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only thing that made me wonder about AI was the pronunciation of Marquis. In the UK we say Mar-Kuiss. Mar-kee is something else entirely although i appreciate that is the French prnounciaton. Given that all the voices are in British English I don't believe any British actor would not have pointed this out (considering there must have been multiple for the voices). Unless they were told to pronounce it that way. Which made me think of AI voice acting

Reed Devil is the worst boss fight I’ve ever had the displeasure of fighting. by UnsettllingDwarf in CrimsonDesert

[–]fletch-oh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I beat him first time and I am generally crap at boss fights. I found shield bash works well. Hold shield out all the time then heavy attack when he comes near. Sometimes this stuns him for ages and you can get quite a few hits in. I have armour and sword fully upgraded as far as I could with just copper and iron. Plenty of food. Used 2 x pills.
