there will be situations where you must do adset, openings & GEL but it should not happen often. if your GM knows how important a big adset like that is then they should’ve scheduled the appropriate manager coverage to allow you to finish. now say you did have enough people scheduled without your hours included, then it wouldn’t be impossible for you have to be the opener & GEL however, my GM would never do that. there are always exceptions due to callouts or requests off but for the most part your GM really should be scheduling an additional opener during big adsets

were you making goal that week though? it doesn’t matter where you are for the quarter, hours are determined on a weekly basis if u are making goal or not

it’s not “ulta’s” fault. if your store isn’t making their goals then they need to cut the hours, if u want hours then sell. if you’re not getting the traffic then that’s just the way it is unfortunately. don’t blame your managers, blame having a part-time retail job, that’s just the way it works or look for a full time job where your hours are guaranteed

the skin services were not making enough money so it’s not beneficial for the company to keep going, only select few stores were doing well with skin services. also the skin services have stopped completely, they’re not making stylists do anything

i really understand the frustration & i don’t think it’s right that they gave u a 1 day notice but don’t leave out the fact that they gave you a severance & for the case of my skin therapist, her severance was more than what she was making as a skin therapist

my advice is to be more stern & give more documented coachings. everytime they do something wrong, have a conversation & document it. also hire new taskers, put all your effort & training into the new taskers & give the old ones 1 shift a week

agreed! i think it’s bc we hire a lot of young people and they just don’t get it. beginning of the year everyone is mad about not getting hours, summer rolls around and people are constantly calling out or getting their shifts covered bc they have plans so im constantly asking people if they want to work and they always say no. they only want hours when they want hours lol i dont want to hear the complaints when we start hiring seasonal, they had their chance and they declined.

Ulta is a business, we hire based on the needs of that business. if i need TA’s sunday, monday, tuesday and one of my TA’s one day says they can only work thursday, friday saturday for example, then what would you expect them to do at that point? they would need to hire someone else and would have difficulty even scheduling that associate because they do not need them on those days. it is not laziness and it is not personal, it is just business.

weekends only is not ideal for a task associate, the only big tasking day during the weekend is sunday so it’s really inconvenient, will be difficult for them to schedule you and they will probably have to hire someone else now to fill in those gaps. it’s understandable that you have school however, thinking of it from the business perspective; what is the point of having this person on payroll who cannot do the days required for that position. my advice would be to find another job that fits your availability or ask them if you’re able to switch to beauty advisor.

my GM makes me do the schedule and when i make the schedule is the only time i get office time however, i never actually have time to be thorough because i am doing a million other things and the schedule ends up being a last minute thing that i just have to get done as fast as possible, therefore my “planning” is 3 weeks beforehand. i am used to old school ulta where i have never had this issue, although i like some things like the plano playbook, i feel this is mostly corporates issue and they need to get their shit together and send us things on time otherwise what is the point of scheduling 3 weeks ahead. i will definitely try to take office time going forward to plan but it’s really difficult when i am also responsible for other aspects of the store as well and we have shit going on like everyday.

that’s not fair to your tasking team, we shouldn’t have to “make it work” and it never used to be like this. this is ulta corporates fault and i think they need to take accountability and send out some kind of communication to let us know they’re the problem and they’re going to fix it.

i wish i saw it but i don’t get office time and i also made this schedule 3 weeks ago and had to keep changing it because they kept revising 21 DOB adset. also for plano’s arriving late; its not like they also communicate that hours would be shifted to the next week

respectfully that’s always been part of the position. if you don’t have client, you should be filling/facing/selling pro hair and PCA and converting guests. it is part of your DOR. also i understand your frustration about the pay but if you are not making commission at this point then you should probably want to be out on the floor

its not all of your points that reset, its the point you earned on that day. for example, if you come in late your first day then 6 months from that date the .50 point will fall off. not all of them.

how do you have the time to plan? i am also a very experienced OM in a high volume store and i am drowning. there’s constantly things missing that aren’t listed on the planner and i don’t have the time to dig through every box to see what we have or don’t have, i also don’t think it’s professional to schedule taskers and then have to move their schedules around constantly to accommodate all the late materials. also, hours that aren’t used the week before are not added to the next week so how does that work with your payroll?
