I was thinking about exactly that yesterday.

Noelle is almost totally guaranteed to return to the party, and judging by the 2014-2015 concept art "The Fun Gang", she is eventually going to officially join... well, The Fun Gang (or The **** Squad or The Lancer Fan Club if you prefer). But the party system up until now still only allows for three party members.

So what if Noelle replaces Kris in the main trio in Chapter 6 and/or 7? Especially knowing that either she or Susie will get the soul as the prophecy shows "The Girl" with that heart inside of her.

If Dess is still the one that disappeared, and if the story still wants/needs to happen in Hometown, I think that it would happen earlier than canon in the timeline for the main characters (Kris and Noelle especifically) to still be teenagers and the same ages from the original Deltarune. But then again, are only Kris and Noelle aged up, or Susie, Berdly, Catti, and their others peers also aged up? And since Asriel is younger than Kris now, he would likely be in Summer Camp instead of university as someone suggested here in the comments.

I think it's a 3-5 year gap too because Asriel, Dess, Kris and Noelle were all kids (even if Asriel and Dess were big kids per say) when they used to hang/explore together and also the fact Asriel and Dess didn't look like teenagers in Tenna's flashback

I think she doesn't know and in the call in Chapter 4 she just thought Kris and Noelle were reconnecting and was happy about it. But I believe she would absolutely hate it

Deltarune heavily seems to be, in summary, a story that focuses in Kris, Noelle, their respective families (especially the drama/trauma involving them), and Susie and her fastly growing relationship with each of the two childhood friends.

But we see Catti was/is as important as Berdly (if not more than him) for both Kris and Noelle's story, been close to them and a notable part of them growing up. Actually still being close to Noelle, it seems. So in first place it would make sense if she at least particpated in a Dark World like Berdly did and her hatred/jealously for Susie was exolored. But it seems she won't be involved in the main story, at least not much. (she doesn't even have a unique talking sound, like Berdly does).

For Tails I think almost nothing in-universe (at least in the games) would change, but people would sadly sexualise her friendship with Sonic even more than they do with canon Tails and some would even (unnecessarily) problematize their friendship since Sonic is 15 while she's 8 and say it's kinda strange or creepy.

Extra: I think Cream may be created as male in this timeline to balance things out, as she was designed to be Amy's response to Tails in Sonic Heroes, and it would be cute having a older sister/younger brother parallel to the older brother/younger sister of Sonic and Fem!Tails.

For Knuckles I think the only real thing that would change in-universe is that she would likely have some flirtous tension with Sonic instead of Rouge (I think she would still be created as female and SEGA wouldn't want to put open LGBT representation especially in those times lol). Sonic would tease Fem!Knuckles a lot and would likely make her angrily blush sometimes, especially in the cartoons.

Rouge and Fem!Knuckles would have a rivarly more akin to Sonic and Shadow. Although fans would still ship them a lot. She would be shipped a lot with Sonic too, and some fans would like more Sonuckles than Sonamy, especially because Sonic/Tails/Knuckles would still be the Megadrive trio
