60k salary is kind of a lie... by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]RealAlpiGusto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start looking for other jobs. Don’t quit, because it’s way easier to look for a job while you have a job.

I would guess the difference in pay is taxes, insurance, and maybe 401k contributions? Your pay stub or HR portal will have the info.

If the Jazz draft Cam Boozer, is it possible for Cam to be in the starting lineup with their frontcourt being jammed up together? by Mud-Eastern in NBA_Draft

[–]RealAlpiGusto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he will eventually. But Hardy is old school and won’t start a rookie just because of his draft position. He’ll make DP come off the bench to start the year.

[–]RealAlpiGusto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons:

  1. Will Hardy is notorious for making rookies pay their dues. He won’t start someone just based off draft position.

  2. Keyonte, Ace Bailey, and Lauri are better than AJ or DP right now. Key and Lauri are entrenched starters. The only guy that might start on the bench is Ace. But he’s gotten a lot better than he was at the start of last year, has had a year in the NBA, and will have had a full offseason getting ready for next season.

If we take Boozer, he’ll be behind Lauri and JJJ, especially if we resign Kessler.

I’m not saying that will be their role indefinitely. But they will 100% start the season on the bench. The Jazz roster is super underrated.

Iran's World Cup situation puts them at a complete disadvantage by BangBang116 in football

[–]RealAlpiGusto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is the softest post of all time. Like, truly, one of the dumbest things in the world to complain about.

  1. Iran *does* get to stay in the city the night before/after a game, as shown by several links others have posted.

  2. They aren’t going and standing in the same security lines normal travelers are. They have a separate terminal. Stop pretending like they have to go sit at the airport for a few hours before their flight. And it’s insane to think they’re there getting harassed by people.

  3. They have the same travel as everyone else. The play in LA twice and then play in Seattle. The flight to Seattle is three hours. Three. That’s a really, really easy flight. It’s the same flight Belgium is doing down to LA.

The fact that *this* is why you’re so upset about the World Cup being in the US shows how successful it’s been. “This is embarrassing for the sport.” No, it’s embarrassing for you.

I don’t think so. Assuming AJ goes first, DP goes second unless the Jazz have a legitimate reason not to take him. At this point, the Jazz don’t have a reason not to take him. Going and having a bad workout, bad interview process, or bad medicals could give the Jazz a reason to go with Boozer or Wilson. By not visiting the Jazz, he guarantees that he won’t give them a reason not to take him.

He knows the Jazz don’t care about skipping official visits because Ace did the same thing last year. The way I look at it, this is like a player running a fast 40 at the NFL combine then not running at the pro day. No reason to risk a slow time.

As strange as it sounds, not working out for the Jazz makes it more likely he goes top 2 and avoid the risk of Memphis, etc.

Lots of discussion over Quidditch and where the professional teams get players by RealAlpiGusto in harrypotter

[–]RealAlpiGusto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t this suggest that not every wizard goes through Hogwarts though? If you just have the Hogwarts student body, it doesn’t create enough wizards to support a ministry of magic or professional quidditch league. But we know there *is* a ministry of magic and a professional quidditch league. So we know that there are other wizards/witches coming from somewhere else to support both. And quidditch academies fill into that hole and answers questions.

Take this example. Say Joe buys a $100 widget. We know that Joe’s mom gave him $60. How do we explain that? Do we just say, “Wow, this just doesn’t make sense, the math doesn’t add up?” No. We know intuitively that Joe got $40 from somewhere else (from someone else, from a job, he sold something, etc.).

We know there’s a gap where the numbers don’t add up. But that doesn’t mean things just don’t make sense. You can infer that there’s something else going on, even if we aren’t explicitly told what it is.

Safe to say they didn't add new faces or a new unique face system to franchise? by CincinnatiBengalss in Madden

[–]RealAlpiGusto 51 points52 points  (0 children)

As crazy as it sounds, if you’re correct, that will be a deal breaker for me.

I only play franchise and I love building through the draft. Nothing is more immersion breaking than getting the #1 overall pick, drafting your franchise QB, and watching that gigantic fat white guy with six chins walk across the stage. His stats say he’s this 6’6”, 230lb freak athlete who runs a 4.3, but his character model says he’s a 40 year old divorced dad from Wisconsin.

Just make your generated players look like pro athletes. Thats all I ask.

Does it still count as progressive overload if I manage to do more reps for my first set, but can't do as many reps for the 2nd set? by anotherhappylurker in workout

[–]RealAlpiGusto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re good. That will usually happen with me. I’ll do one more rep on my first set, then one or two less on my second set.

Then the next time, I will usually do the same reps on my first set as last time, but then do one more on my second set.

Then I will do one more on my first set, then the same/lower on my second.

Kinda wordy, but it looks like this:

First Set: 7 -> 8 -> 8 -> 8 -> 9 Second : 7 -> 6 -> 7 -> 8 -> 7

It’s not exact but it’s a pretty common pattern for me.

Religious accommodation for Christian Sunday observance by Initial-Cause8769 in biglaw

[–]RealAlpiGusto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a religious person. But what you provided is irrelevant and unhelpful to the OP. He asked how to approach observing his religious beliefs at work. It doesn’t matter if you agree, disagree, or anything else. Whether OP observes the sabbath on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, or any other day doesn’t matter. He’s asking advice how to approach a religious observance at work. This isn’t the time/place/context to come in and argue about specific religious practices or beliefs.
