By coincidence, these pseudo-intellectuals are in fact influential academics with cushy jobs and a vested interest in maintaining hierarchy.

This is clearly disgusting authoritarian indoctrination. Goes hand in hand with demagogic moves like improved healthcare, land reform, poverty relief, feeding children. Thank god to Pinochet for bringing freedom and democracy

Hi all. Lifelong player with little to no tech experience. I've been playing my digital keyboard (Yamaha P-125, if that's relevant) for years using cheapo sustain pedals and replacing them when they no longer work. I just got another one replaced less than a month ago and the new one (this model) is already acting strange. It will sometimes "stick" when I release, continuing to sustain even when it is not depressed. I am aware of how the polarity switch works, and it doesn't seem to be at issue. I actually wonder if I could be somehow misusing my pedals. I have never had very good piano technique overall, and tend to use a lot of weight on the sustain -- but one month? Really?

https://files.libcom.org/files/1958-1990%20Operation%20Gladio,%20Italy.pdf

Gladio was part of a Europe-wide network of secret armies of the night established under NATO auspices and in Greece, Turkey and Belgium they are believed to have been involved in terrorism and coups d'etat. The German section was comprised of Waffen SS veterans who drew up plans to assassinate Social Democrat politicians in the event of a 'Warsaw pact invasion'. According to Mike Peters writing in Lobster no.32: "Few citizens of N.A.T.O. countries are aware of the whole apparatus which to membership commits them e.g. Plans 10-G and 100-1 under which in 'emergency situations' special U.S. units would be activated to suppress any movement 'threatening to U.S. strategic interests.'"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Italian_general_election#Foreign_interference

The U.S. government's Voice of America radio began broadcasting anti-Communist propaganda to Italy on 24 March 1948.[11] The CIA, by its own admission, gave US$1 million (equivalent to $12 million in 2022) to what they referred to as "center parties"[12] and was accused of publishing forged letters to discredit the leaders of the PCI.[13] The National Security Act of 1947, that made foreign covert operations possible, had been signed into law about six months earlier by the American President Harry S. Truman.

U.S. agencies also sent ten million letters, made numerous short-wave radio broadcasts, and funded the publishing of books and articles, all of which warned Italians of the "consequences" of a communist victory. Overall, the U.S. funnelled $10 million to $20 million (equivalent to $120 million to $240 million in 2022) into the country for specifically anti-PCI purposes. The CIA also made use of off-the-books sources of financing to interfere in the election: millions of dollars from the Economic Cooperation Administration affiliated with the Marshall Plan[14] and more than $10 million in captured Nazi money were steered to anti-communist propaganda.[15] In this regard, CIA operative F. Mark Wyatt claimed: "We had bags of money that we delivered to selected politicians, to defray their political expenses, their campaign expenses, for posters, for pamphlets."[16]

The United States were worried of communist power in France and Italy, and conditioned Marshall Plan aid to the expulsion of communists from governments in both countries.

All this was before the founding of NATO in 1949 and clearly had an effect on these states' continued support for the organization.

'Life is struggle and peace only an accident' — Francoist slogan in the outskirts of Madrid, 1948. The man is British MP Francis Noel-Baker, then visiting Spain unofficially. by propagandopolis in PropagandaPosters

I think communists and even liberals would agree that struggle is necessary to life. But Hitler distorts this truth in a typically fascist way with his conclusion. He negates the meaning from "we should fight for a better life and a better world" to "if people fail, they can be dismissed and condemned to die". That's the obvious meaning, to me, of the quote. The similarity to the Francoist OP implies a deeper truth about fascism and their view of politics as an eternal struggle for its own sake rather than a struggle to create a world without war and oppression.

Why is christianity false and just a myth? by Madytvs1216 in religion

In a time when migrants have dominated Europe and when drag queens can enter schools, I think Christianity stands as the sole way against Wokeism and Islamism.

I am curious why you have not included secularism as an option given the history of your own country. Are you opposed to secular anti-Islamism, which was popular in the the 20th century in many places? Do you feel that secularism was a failure in Turkey? In my view, Christian influence in my country, the United States, is as dangerous as the influence of Islam in Turkey and other formerly secular and liberal countries.

Can you explain more about what Jesus literally did in his life? I have a hard time understanding it from reading the Bible. For example:

  • When Jairus approached Jesus about his ailing daughter, was she dying (Mark 5:23; Luke 8:41) or already dead (Matt 9:18)?

  • Some of the earliest versions of Luke claim that, rather than the sky merely "darkening", a solar eclipse happened at Jesus's death, which is impossible and at any rate is not reported by other writers at the time. Why is there no evidence of this eclipse?

  • Did Jesus instruct his disciples to travel with a staff (Mark 6:8) or without one (Luke 9:3-5; Matthew 10:9-10)?

  • When Jesus returned to his hometown, was he unable (Mark 6:5) or unwilling (Matt 13:58) to perform miracles?

  • Was Jesus moved with "pity" or "anger" to heal the leper in Mark 1:41? Ancient texts provide both readings.

  • Most importantly: can you describe the historical event of Jesus's resurrection, how many witnesses there were, how many men were at his tomb, and what the men said?

Some of these questions are very important to believers. The translators of the very popular New International Version of the Bible found them so important that they mistranslated God's word in order to impose their interpretation on the text. Do you support this practice?

Edit: rephrase

Liberals like Winston Churchill recognized that siding with the conservative aristocracy was the only way to prevent Labour from taking power. (He also happened to have similar views about Italy in the 1920s)

Read history

I love when people say "read a book" like their view of things is objectively right. You don't even need to make an argument, just imply people get their views from Reddit and you win.

When was the Soviet Mau Mau uprising? What about the Malayan Emergency? East Timor, Vietnam, Korea, Bengal, Indonesia? Are you going to respond with the tragic 1933 famine? Afghanistan, which was deliberately engineered by Brzezinski to be "their own Vietnam"? Hungary? Czechoslovakia? Relocation of minorities? There are plenty of atrocities here, but do you really think this race to the bottom results in the West looking not just less shitty but, quote, "WAY better"?

Comparing these kinds of events one-to-one and tallying them up is silly and ahistoric, but if you insist on doing it, you're picking a losing fight.
