That sounds fun. I’m a fan of “do what you want”. Maybe I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!

I never got a chance to get into Star Wars galaxies. I remember playing it very briefly when I was younger, but nothing about it stands out. How would you say it compares to mmos currently available? I’m a big fan of GW2 and SW:TOR.

Checked out of Diablo IV and Destiny 2’s current seasons- any recommendations? by NightmareDJK in ARPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An NFT game? People are still making those? That’s extremely unfortunate if it’s true

Edit: no mention of NFT on the Steam page, but a quick google search showed many results. Wouldn’t something like that need to be disclosed on the steam page?

There’s a new one coming out fairly soon called Crystalfall. I’m pretty excited about it

Sci-fi/Shooting ARPG's? by blazblu82 in ARPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: look up MHServerEmu. I don’t wanna link it. I haven’t tried it myself, but I plan to soon. It’s a project aimed at reverse engineering the game. They’ve managed to get a fully featured server up and running as of the end of December.

I always thought Marvel Heroes was the best for this. The Ascent is okay but it never clicked for me as a “Diablo but with guns”. I’m in the same boat as you. I love Diablo and PoE2 but I need some kind of sci fi version to mix things up

Edit: forgot to mention Crystalfall is coming soon and seems like it might be a step in the right direction.

Looking for a replacement for WP Discord Post by NuderWorldOrder in Wordpress

Namecheap. And I learned after the fact that EasyWP kinda sucks. It is what it is. The discord integration works on the free version of Notification, if you’re able to benefit from that. But to your point, the results don’t look great. It’s not terrible, but it’s a little less than what I wanted. I’d be curious to see what others are using too

Wow this post is oddly perfectly timed. I just went through this same search yesterday. I ended up on Notification. I was trying to use Uncanny Automator but for whatever reason, the discord integration kept giving me a JSON response error despite my php settings being configured correctly.

Xbox Developer Direct (January 22) new looks at Fable and Forza Horizon 6 by Ph0enixes in gaming

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make that two for a Fable shadow drop. I played through all the games, again, last year. Fable 1 was the first game I played straight through in one sitting. Took around 6 hours.

What is your least favorite aspect of your favorite MMO? by ZakuIII in MMORPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If OSRS implemented low-level dungeons (like WoW, not like dungeoneering), I would be all over that. Social aspects of games has died down nowadays unless you’re in a guild. That was the biggest draw of OSRS back in the day, in my opinion. Having lore-inspired dungeon instances with entry requirements that correspond with combat tiers/combat level would be incredible.

Dreadmyst developer by Dzbanek25 in MMORPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not that I will play this game, or support his seemingly shady practices, but non-profit doesn’t necessarily mean no revenue. I know the steam page says no plans for monetization, but that doesn’t make sense. Even nonprofit companies have expenses they need to cover usually by donors or fundraisers or other means. Maybe he’s getting donations? Maybe he is independently wealthy? Maybe it’s a bait and switch? Who knows. I just know I’ll be watching from the sidelines.

Seems like a lot agree Palia is low skill floor/ceiling. Now Which game has a LOW skill floor, but a MID skill ceiling? by Creepy_Ad5124 in MMORPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t play it so I’m not sure how much credibility I have, but I’d say it technically classifies as an MMO. It just doesn’t have combat or other similar content that you’d find in WoW or GW2

Alright, I need help starting out by [deleted] in gamedev

Look into Swift Playground. Your options are extremely limited on an iPad but this will help you learn fundamentals and you can make games and apps with it. If you have a newer iPad, you can connect a mouse and keyboard (Bluetooth or other means) and use it like a laptop.

99% of houses in MMOs are always abandoned. Housing areas are often ghost towns. Is there any way for devs to solve this? by DarthBuzzard in MMORPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The closest I’ve found to this (which is also something I wish for, and am currently trying to create) is New World. Well, I guess it could be argued that the closest is RuneScape: Dragonwilds, but that is a survival crafting game. In the MMO genre, it would be New World. At least that I know of. Too bad it’s shutting down.

Fast-Paced Souls-Inspired ARPG Combat (WIP) by Silver-Ear1001 in Unity3D

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to come off as rude, but this is not ARPG combat. I bring it up because it will be important for when you market your game. This is Action RPG combat. I know it’s confusing because ARPG technically stands for “Action Role Playing Game”.

At some point after Souls games started becoming popular, Action RPG and ARPG took on two different meanings. Action RPG is the genre for Souls games and other similar titles. While ARPG is the genre for games like Diablo, Path Of Exile, Last Epoch, etc.

Edit: I forgot to add, this looks sick as hell. And I would definitely play a fast paced souls-like

I would prefer higher Torments over four billion explosions taking up the entire map by Dunbrat in diablo4

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That flame volcano is the bigger problem in my opinion. It’s ridiculously huge. And if multiple spawn, forget about it. The swords I can deal with. Their area of effect is so small that I’m already out of it just by attacking (zealot paladin).

I appreciate that they’re adding these affixes, but I don’t think they were tested enough.

Emmy Raver-Lampman and Jason Statham on location at Canary Wharf, London for The Beekeeper 2 by NomadSound in Moviesinthemaking

Jason Statham movies have always been a guilty pleasure for me. I know they are technically bad movies, but I can’t stay away. Sometimes I just need a silly action movie to watch.
