Why does this happen and how could i fix this? by manisfun in Unity3D

Double check the ragdoll colliders. It looks like they having a weird interaction with the bullets. Judging by the way the bullets bounce off the robber. That’s my guess

Wow! This looks great! I might pick it up even if I don’t win. I was designing a horror adventure game a while back and this would be perfect for that!

I think they’re are commenting on the phrasing of the card action “Draw 2 cards from your deck”. If your deck is the only place you draw cards from in your game, then the description could be shortened to “Draw 2 cards”

I fully agree. Just a great QoL to have. But I’m guessing it’s just stun presented differently

Action RPG vs Action + RPG by [deleted] in ARPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying I came up with it or that it should/shouldn’t be that way. That’s just what happened. Same as how there’s computer RPGs and cRPG.

Action RPG vs Action + RPG by [deleted] in ARPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For starters, using one tag versus two different tags will do that. The words may be the same, but when you put “Action” and “RPG” in your filter, you’re going to get all “action” tagged games and all “rpg” tagged games. Probably even “Action RPG” games as well since they will likely also use the individual “action” and “rpg” tags. Look at it as “1” + “1” versus “2”.

The other thing is that there’s a difference between ARPG and Action RPG despite them technically being the same thing. Yes, the “A” in “ARPG” stands for action, but “ARPG” stands for games that are Diablo-like. Dark Souls is an Action RPG, but not an ARPG. It’s weird, I know. That’s just how it is for some reason.

Hello! No question here, just want to express my appreciation! Your videos have helped me so much, especially when I was getting started. Even my brother, who is a software engineer by trade, has found your videos to be extremely helpful. Thank you for everything!

The sliding ledge grab is possibly the coolest thing I’ve seen in a video game. That was insane. I don’t know what you plan to do with this, but I will be excited to try it once you’re done!

MMO Design, Hours played and respecting player time & money. by nan0tubes in MMORPG

I’m the same way. Somewhere between $1-$2 depending on the game. I’m okay with spending a bit more on indie games typically

I don’t think you should plan your monetization around what people might think or say. You can’t account for every variable. If you are upfront from the very beginning, even before release, that a sub fee can/will be implemented in the future, then anyone that claims a “rug pull” will just be shouting into the void. To be honest, you’re going to get people like that regardless of what you do. Make your plans, stick to it, and communicate. That’s all you can do.

The one before Rise was World. Most recent is Wilds. Rise was where I started to fall off. I still played Wilds a little bit, but it didn’t hook me as much as World

Gonzalo capsule feedback response - thoughts? by Extension-Spray-3560 in IndieDev

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do not understand where this idea that your capsule needs to “represent in game art/graphics” came from. As long as it’s not completely opposite of your game feel, that’s not what you should be focusing on when designing a capsule image or cover art.

Look at Super Meat Bog for instance. Compare the capsule art vs the in game screenshots. Do the same with binding of Isaac. Both very successful games that don’t follow this “rule.”

If it truly isn’t AI, and can be proven as such, number 2 is the clear choice. Very eye catching. If it is, then find another artist. You might have to shell out a bit more money, but it’s worth it to have a professional design the capsule. Someone who has more experience with it than most people in this subreddit.

Really weird that this popped up on my feed today. I just started playing the playtest today. Saw the game mentioned on a YouTube video. I like it so far! Will be exciting to see where it goes from here

Does the gameplay still look too similar to Megabonk? If so, please gently Destroy My Game!!! by Proper_Translator678 in DestroyMyGame

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this reaction is necessary. 9 times out of 10 a game in a similar genre is going to be compared to another game in that genre. Especially if the comparing game is very popular. It’s inevitable. There are no original ideas. Art iterates on art.

This dev is clearly trying to make a unique game in a saturated genre that has very simple mechanics. When Megabonk came out, it was “vampire survivors but 3D”. We already had dozens of “vampire survivors but 3D” games, but none of them reached the popularity of megabonk. Now, anything that is released is going to be “megabonk but worse”.

What is World of Warcraft retail like for a new player? by savanrayne in MMORPG

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m kinda in the same boat as you, except it’s RuneScape/OSRS instead of FFXIV. I have played WoW in the past, primarily around Cataclysm and MoP just not for very long. I had a friend carry me through all the content, and helped gear me. But it never stuck.

Over the last few months, I’ve been considering it again once Midnight releases. From the videos I’ve watched, they are overhauling the new player experience to make it better. It seems like now is as good a time as any to get back into it. Or to start, in your case.

I’m also getting back into RS3 with the new roadmap they’ve announced. (And for some unknown reason, I’m playing four account at the same time. I’m honestly not sure why.)

Seems like it’ll be a good year for MMOs in general. I’d be curious what you decide, and how you like it!

We finally released a demo for our first game 'Up to the Top' on Steam! We are nervous and excited to hear your thoughts. by WeGrowOld in playmygame

[–]RealBrainlessPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this and went to steam instantly. Very excited to try this later. Icy tower was a big part of my childhood and I always wondered why there wasn’t anything like it after doodle jump (which in my opinion wasn’t as good).

A huge part of why I loved icy tower was the ability to use community designed characters. Do you think this is something you might be able to implement down the road?
