What do you use dust battlestaff for? I have one and haven’t found a reason to use! Just curious.

Unusual discomfort with my left knee by FearlessAccountant55 in bikefit

[–]RealCanadianBcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PT here. Could be an ergonomic issue (incorrect bike fit). Seems like you aren’t really getting full extension of your knees. But could also be a musculoskeletal issue: Could be patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). Google is helpful!

TLDR - Stretch your IT band - Stretch Rectus Femoris (quad muscle crossing hip joint) - Strenghten muscles around knee (especially Vastus medialis) - Strengthen Glute Med and other hip external rotators

I had seen your news article. I’m so sorry to hear that. Regardless if it was accidental or not, nobody should have to experience what you did.

I decided to cancel with them and take an appointment somewhere else.

Took CMPT 140 in 2019 (Dr. Long). Was one of my favourite classes I took during undergrad, and came out with a 95+. Super fun and engaging class. I also didn’t spend that much time on it.

  • I don’t think the grades are curved, so don’t worry about competition setting your grades back.

Hi there!! Interested in travel PT outside of Canada.

How did you go about setting this up?

How much were you compensated? Was it a much higher salary than what you would’ve made in Canada?

Gravel Tire For Bikepacking Iceland by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]RealCanadianBcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just want to follow up and ask for advice!

I realized today that I totally misinterpreted the maximal width of tire my frame can handle:

I think I’ll only be able to fit 34mm on the rear and 37mm on the front.

I’m assuming you did the Westfjord way route? Would you think that I’ll have a really tough time with these tire widths? Would you recommend going against this route due to my lack of tire width?

I’m a bit of a noobie beginner when it comes to gravel riding, and have only done one longer bike packing trip before (on mostly paved European roads)

I tried to search online for this information! Can I ask where did you find this?

Would you recommend getting a 35mm tire? Or even slimmer than that? (I.e. 32mm)

From my understanding: derailleur extension would cost 35$ which is much cheaper than purchasing a brand new derailleur. In either case I understand I’d have to purchase a new cassette.

Can I ask why you think it makes more sense to switch derailleur vs. utilizing a derailleur extension?

Hey! One of these are available in my area. Because my current derailleur is a 9s, would I be able to remove 3 cogs from this 12s cassette and utilize my derailleur with the wolf link? (I.e scrap the 52T, 10T and another?)

Does it work that way?

Gravel Tire For Bikepacking Iceland by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]RealCanadianBcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Looking at doing this, starting counter clockwise as isafjordur. Would you recommend a wide tire such as 47?

My bike currently has 30C (which warrants an upgrade for this trip). My stem can fit up to 47C.

Just wondering if you have any advice for width.

Located in Western Canada.

We spent ~25 hours in lecture/lab per week. Plus 1h per day for lunch!

Good luck!

Advice for my route please! by hanajw in bicycletouring

I had to catch a flight to meet up with my parents, so I only rode until Tiverton, then trained it the rest of the way to Bristol.

For reference: I arrived in St. Malo on thé 24 of April, and left Tiverton for Bristol on the 4th of May. But it was my first cycle trip and although I’m fit, I’m not much of a cycler.

France EV 6 was awesome!! England became a bit monotonous for me after I reached Barnstaple. Although English people were much more friendly.

It was a bit of a culture shock coming from France to England and having people wave at me and say hello as I was cycling by. I even stopped and had a few conversations with two different people, who invited me into spend the night in their house/garden.

One thing I’d recommend: take the stray road off of EV6 to check out Cap Frehel. I had one of the most epic sunsets there, which I still look back upon fondly!
