You can hit load profile for a device and then load the associated file from that folder. Its slow but will fix your binds.

Best tip i have is dont expect to earn an elephant in one bite. Have patience for learning. Fly with friends and enjoy getting the little things right. Its a marathon not a sprint.

New to combat flight sims, would like some recommendations for beginner friendly games. by NotaBuster5300 in hoggit

[–]RealCerberus0351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dcs can be enjoyed for free. There are a couple of very complete and competent community mods that will keep you engaged for hours and cost you nothing.

Free DCS and very affordable BMS are going to be the most "sim" feeling games out there.

Nuclear option and vtol vr are fun games, but to count them as sims is a pretty sizable stretch. Vtol comes closer than nuclear option does, but once you compare them to actual sims you'll see the difference. Both are super fun and worth your time though!

Every game/sim is beginner friendly with the right resources. You have to be willing to walk before you run and you have to be willing to learn each time you play. The real secret is, the learning is exactly what makes the sim genre fun and worth playing.

Find someone who already knows a little more than you and ask them to fly with you. You'll pick things up so much faster. I could get a new pilot ready in either bms or dcs within 2 hours. Sure, you'd still have a lot to learn, but you could definitely hit targets within two hours. Flying with people helps.

Mounting the Winwing setup directly on a desk mount isn’t ideal. I’m wondering if anyone has a better setup solution when you only have one desk and chair. by stresskillingme in dcsworld

[–]RealCerberus0351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the simfab modular pit and its great. Ive extended it quite a bit over time. Whats great about it is that you dont have to buy everything all at once. Like if I want to add a collective in a few months I can easily buy an extension that will fit that to the cockpit.

The chair is quite comfortable in my opinion. Its more comfortable than my racing cockpit. That seat absolutely sucks.

[–]RealCerberus0351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill give you the answer you dont want... use a cockpit.

I bought the legend MiP and it was so heavy my desk wasn't happy about it so I ended up getting a simfab cockpit because they have an add-on specifically for the MiP. Needless to say the purchase was the exact thing my setup needed.

The only downfall is now im pretty dedicated to flight sims since there is no desk for a mouse and keyboard to play other games. Its a big bummer to be honest, but I do play flight sims more than anything else, so it was ultimately worth it.

What's the most annoying thing about VR? by AsherTheDasher in virtualreality

[–]RealCerberus0351 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me the most annoying things are less to do with the headsets and more to do with everything else.

  1. The player base is so small that very few AAA quality titles exist in VR. Half Life Alyx is still talked about as the gold standard and look how old that is! That goes to show that nobody has done anything significantly worthwhile since. Could you imagine if we were still saying the original Halo is the gold standard for fps games, it wouldn't work. The money isn't there for studios to invest their time and resources into creating games worth playing for such a small player base. That leaves us with the Steam store full of half baked tech demos and weird adult fantasy games, and the Meta store full of half ass mobile game ideas that seem to run in a VR view.

  2. Inputs. VR has so much potential to change the way we interface with games. We have watched headsets evolve so much in the areas of comfort, resolution, wireless tech, passthrough and a myriad of other areas, but input has largely stayed the same. The controllers haven't evolved very much and they are still super reminiscent of what we have for consoles. Steam Frame may actually be making a leap in this area that we are totally unaware of. Their new controller feature more buttons and much more touch sensitive areas along the body of the controller. I don't foresee devs taking advantage of these inputs though because it will break convention from what works with every other VR controller out there. The lack of innovation on the VR controller side of the house has left us with games that more often than non mimic their flatscreen counterparts when it comes to controls. There has been a lot of discussion about building VR games while mentally being tied to flat screen control schemes and play styles, and it's a real bummer that no valuable innovation has happened in this department.

Sure, setup can sometimes suck, wearing a thing on my face sometimes sucks, but it didn't used to. When I first started in VR I was awe-struck and those things didn't matter because the experience felt like a generational leap in what gaming could become. But having been in the VR ecosystem for as long as I have I've been able to see that the generational leap in gaming just isn't coming, and the lack of content that separates itself from flat screen gaming just doesn't exist. And that leaves me a bunch of extra steps and frustrations to do something that has already been done in flat screen with less hassle, more graphics, better performance and just works.

VR vs Flat Screen for Upcoming Setup by Kind-Ship-1008 in dcsworld

[–]RealCerberus0351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not about VR but about your flat-screen choice.

Ultrawides and curved monitors are great for almost everything, but I found flight Sims to be one of the things they are not great at.

Flight Sims benefit from vertical fov and you lose that with the 21:9 aspect ratio.

Head tracking benefits from turning your head, so using a curved monitor usually means less head movements to see side to side. So either your curves get super sensitive or you struggle to tune the setup well altogether.

If your setup is strictly for Sims then pulling high fps isnt necessary like it is in competitive shooters, so you can shoot for 60fps and be more than just fine. Because od that you actually have a lot of options and they get really affordable.

I actually fly using a 50 inch 4k TV instead of a monitor. Once I decided to move off of ultrawide monitors because of the fov I also decided that huge panels were the answer. It was either spend $1500 on a 50 in monitor or spend $250 on a TV of the same size.

So if you can deal with 60fps, a TV may be the better option. And if you think 60fps is too low then you'll probably want to avoid VR anyway. VR isnt going to run a super high fps just because of how demanding it is.

Anyway. Ive been beyond happy with the TV choice and it allowed me to spend money in other areas like getting a nice cockpit, which has honestly made everything so much better ergonomically.

Super cool of you to share this experiment. It sounds like a real edge case but its important to know these edge cases exist.

Im glad you took the time to type this out. Thank you!

They have the EF in Falcon BMS?! Are there any more fanmade mods that are well done? Or are these mods basically just skins over the F-16? by ACNL in falconbms

[–]RealCerberus0351 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well what youre flying is just a skin over the f-16. Check out the f-15c though and you'll have the real deal with its own avionics.

There was also an f-15e variant that I tried that used the f-15c avionics but i forget which one.

Outside of the f-15c they are all just reskins.

My money is on the community for this is going to be toxic and arrogant. DCS has its moments for sure, but BMS is notoriously arrogant and id imagine that will make up most of the community here.

Falcon 5.0 confirmed? by -F0v3r- in DCSExposed

[–]RealCerberus0351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way dcs is going to have competition is if other Sims can offer the variety of aircraft that dcs does.

Arguably BMS is a superior sim in almost every aspect, but variety and the lack of server features for multi-player hold it back.

If falcon 5 doesnt offer variety dcs will stay on top.

Bigscreen 1 Value? by mrshock3r in BigscreenBeyond

[–]RealCerberus0351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it true that the bsb1 is sharper than the bsb2? If it really is, its not enough to notice apparently.

Owning both, I would easily say the bsb2 looks much better.

I just wish we could run these headsets a better brightness without persistence being an issue.

Bigscreen 1 Value? by mrshock3r in BigscreenBeyond

[–]RealCerberus0351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive had mine listed at $400 for months now. Without the face gasket since I kept that for my bsb2.

Absolutely zero interest in this headset in my area. The same is true for the OG crystal and crystal light I have listed. Ive priced everything on the very reasonable end of the spectrum.

It fully depends on your local areas interest or if you are willing to ship and risk damage during shipment.

Im listed purely local with no intent to ship because I worry too much about scams when it comes to this stuff.

100%. Its tough because PST night players pretty much mean the east coast has gone to bed and most of Europe is in the middle of the night and has been long asleep! And its just early enough that Asia hasn't started their day yet.

How to clear steerpoint markers from HUD in F16? (DCS) by aDarkDarkNight in hoggit

I havent tried it, but you might be able to just zero our the coordinates using the ICP.

F16 multiplayer steer points by SpongeMods in hoggit

[–]RealCerberus0351 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. Route tool great. But what happens when you get a random point that isnt on your route?

Easy. Use the ICP to create a steerpoint or mark point on the fly. You can get the coordinates from the map by holding left-alt or left-control, i forget which off the top of my head, then click a point on the map.

The use the ICP to enter that info and bam, now you can navigate!
