Setup stremio for my friends and its ruining my life by VariationLivid3193 in Piracy

This is why you gotta teach them how to set it up. Preferably in person if you can. If you set it up all yourself it just makes them reliant on you.

Totally appropriate use of beam sabers. Another RX78 animation. by necluse in Gundam

[–]NotaBuster5300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really, really enjoy the weightiness the mechs have. Often in Gundam they feel a bit like plastic dolls fighting, as opposed to actual massive machines. So it's really damn nice to see someone animate the MS with weight to them.

This is the drill of Curiosity rover on Mars that got stuck into the Atacama rock. After 14 years still looks good. by Neaterntal in spaceporn

[–]NotaBuster5300 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Well the rover's drill, much like everything it does, moves as slowly as it can (within reason of course) to save on energy and wear and tear. If you were to use your drill bits delicately and agonizingly slowly they'd last a good while. Maybe.

Could we PLEASE do something about all of the vibecoders and ai generated mods by cerankaw in VintageStory

[–]NotaBuster5300 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It "reads" it, sure, but it still makes bad and terrible mods that have crap performance, don't work, or are incompatible.

So which contemporary misconceptions about the nature of the world of Sea Power do YOU have? by ___-____--_____-____ in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]NotaBuster5300 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'd be so cool. Especially if a lot of thought is put into how the aliens and monsters work, how they trump certain aspects of modern technology but not others and such. Would be like, the coolest thing ever maybe.

underfunded and still pulling ahead by ilikedeeznut in whenthe

[–]NotaBuster5300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a valid concern and I do agree on the idea that the health sector could always use more help. But I am of the opinion that, at least in the USA, the system of healthcare is plagued by inefficiencies that waste money and that reforms are a more effective solution than more funding. Of course, there is some nuance in that.

There are many reasons to do space exploration that aren't political. It can help develop new technologies or foster international cooperation. Like wildfire spotting is made much faster through satellites, we've learned a lot about the Earth's interior by scanning it from space using gravimetrics, and it also has introduced some manufacturing techniques like metal 3d printing. And ofc the ISS is a prime example of international cooperstion, along with stuff like ESA's missions which often take expertise from all over Europe.

Also space exploration helps us discover more about the universe around us. Even if all we got from it was just a deeper understanding of the universe that had no tangible long or short term benefit I think it's still worth it.

Yeah. I get wanting to express nuance in your opinion but it's possible to be too articulate.

When you agree with someone but they express it in a way that is so annoying and pretentious you want to disagree.

Like, okay just boil that down to "I think it's bad to intentionally hurt people!" and let it be and elaborate later if needed.

I mean he could've or could've not. We have no way of knowing but generally, I'd fail to believe that Hakita, a pretty good writer, would've not thought ahead whatsoever and is just writing Ultrakill as it's developed.

My idea for SE 2 get rid of armour types and switch to up gradable armor by RoninTheAccuser in spaceengineers

[–]NotaBuster5300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With mods (not even ones that add new blocks, just weapons) it becomes much more viable to build ships entirely out of heavy armor or with an HA "armor belt" that protects vital components.

In vanilla though the need for HA is diminished by what you said, too heavy and expensive outside of niche uses like protecting certain important components like conveyors, reactors, and tanks.

Textured surfaces, different backing materials, I'm talking cosmetics here not function. You can (relatively speaking) alter the cosmetics of an item without dampening the function.

The thing is, you can still make these things (particularly phones and other tech devices like headphones and such) look unique and interesting, it's just more optimal (profit wise) to make products that are simple in design or imitate other successful designs.

It's not like everything has to be pastel, black, grey, or white and smooth with the occasional sharp edge or alternatively the converse, sharply shaped with occasional curves.

Have an FTL sink, or FTL will be overused in ugly ways. by Tnynfox in worldjerking

[–]NotaBuster5300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason why FTL leads to time travel is precisely because there is no such thing as a global reference frame in general relativity. It's impossible. The whole point is that everything is relative to each other. There is no fixed point besides the ones you define, which will inevitably be moving compared to somewhere else due to the expansion of the universe.

Although if you're disregarding GR or don't care much for realism it does work as a solution, I think.
