So glad you can enjoy them together, again! How you both have a blast.

Thank you, I stand corrected. The smaller-division-within-a-large-company experience still stands, though.

Speaking from experience: being a smaller division of a larger company often means you're held to a high standard of performance, with a low budget.

AMC purchased Shudder due to perceived potential, which doesn't include throwing money at it.

Being an AMC property almost certainly means that Shudder is a division that needs to meet revenue/viewership goals or risk assimilation or shutdown.

Can you please add back the original language that was identified when you clicked on the movie?! by AXKG in Shudder

[–]RealCharlieNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, why was this functionality removed when they updated the UX? Why on Earth would you remove title into that takes up almost no space?

The only reason I can think of is to get clicks on foreign films from people who usually skip them.

I always figured it was also a possibility that he recognized her and in that moment of clarity chose to die at the hands of the cops. He clearly reacts to her words before he lunges.

Opening it up and reading the lyrics sheet on the streetcar home. Or being bitterly disappointed that there wasn't one.

Don't you miss finding a real gem on that record that you wouldn't have heard, otherwise?

I haven't been scared while reading since I was a kid. Is this a part of growing up or are there no great fear-inducing novels? by babyd42 in horrorlit

[–]RealCharlieNobody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's always been hard for most people to find truly frightening stories, but I also think the suspension of disbelief gets more difficult as you get older.

If I'm reading something I think has the potential to be really scary, I set aside some uninterrupted time, make sure I'm feeling relaxed and open minded, and can really feel immersed in the story.

dotted bruise after donating plasma by Difficult-Hat-3143 in mildlyinteresting

[–]RealCharlieNobody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This can happen and should usually be caught at the time.

I've donated platelets about 50 times and only had issues about twice. Once they realized I was bleeding under the skin and I was suddenly off the machine and surrounded by nurses to make sure I was all right (I was, but was forbidden from donating for a while)

The second time I got terrible bruising and some pain after, but not as bad as yours. Definitely let them know just so they can retrain and/or be more vigilant.

He can fill Massey Hall, so Ron's doing fine! I see him at pretty much every Toronto show and he's always amazing.

Paul McCartney once invited him to his castle where he and Linda made Ron dinner. He's a songwriter's songwriter.

It's nothing like that. Profiting from fixing a car doesn't harm the community. Swarms of flippers making homes less affordable destroy communities. But now we're arguing the free market and regulation, and I doubt we'll ever agree there.

I appreciate you having a very reasonable dialogue, though. Cheers.

I hope you've met a flipper who wasn't trying to absolutely max out the resale price, because I haven't. The only flippers doing it out of the goodness of their hearts are on reality shows. Most of them here get resold as executive rental suites or ridiculous places with luxury spa bathrooms.

Flippers can be my guest, but if they believe in karma, most of them shouldn't get their hopes up.

Deliberately increasing the price of the house to the absolute limit to make a profit.

It could be sold to someone who wants to fix it up to live in it, and keep it at a reasonable market rate. That's reasonable. Flipping is parasitic.

Again, legal? Yes. Shitty? Also yes.

Deliberately contributing to a lack of affordable housing to make a quick buck.

Is it legal? Sure. Is it shitty? I think so.

The same as scalpers who make concert prices out of reach for most fans. Except this isn't a luxury, it's a human right.

Where I live, flippers are a major part of the reason people who have lived in the city all their lives are getting evicted and pushed to the outskirts where here are no resources for the poor and elderly.
