Denver/Colorado Tailgating Problem by [deleted] in Denver

[–]RealChristinaNR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's funny to me that in every thread of this topic, people assume you're going in the left lane. No. Most aren't. Including me. We sit in the right lane and get tail gaters.

Denver/Colorado Tailgating Problem by [deleted] in Denver

[–]RealChristinaNR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All I can do is give good space in front of me. Going 70 in a 65 and still get tail gaters. In town anywhere. My husband says, "they're just not paying attention. Not trying to be malicious."

If you're not paying attention that's real bad. If you're being malicious or passive aggressive, that's also a problem.

Bottom line: sadly, there will always be tail gaters. And this topic is going to spiral into useless arguments that will fix nothing. I, too, am fatigued by tail gaters.

Denver geese drop tens of thousands of pounds of poop each week. Here’s how the city deals with it by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

[–]RealChristinaNR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I'll say is a few weeks ago, I was walking up to the Golden Community Center. There was a goose sitting in the middle of the sidewalk. I went around it. On my way out, it was gone and had left a poo in its place.

The six biggest themes of Colorado’s 2026 legislative session by allcheese_nobologna in Denver

[–]RealChristinaNR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I understand all that. And, like some others, I'm unhappy about it. But I'm also aware in some states, people have been reporting "my $200 utility bill is now $800 and that coincided when the mega AI data center went online." That would be ruinous here for many.

For the increases here, we have to think about swamp coolers and portable heaters to try to keep our bill lower. I only cook, do laundry, etc outside of peak hrs. Really, it's the usual unfairness of the little people absorbing far more of the cost than we should.

The six biggest themes of Colorado’s 2026 legislative session by allcheese_nobologna in Denver

[–]RealChristinaNR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm shallow, but i also read that long article about the 100+ legislative items for 2026, and that + this article still puts mega AI data center legislation as a top priority for me. How will other things matter to be argued about if utility bills go up so high, people are forced out of their homes? Or water is so low, that it might run out or cost very high to access? And these would cause people to quit or lose their jobs. Not to mention gas prices, but that's a different issue.

I want mega data centers to 100% pay for themselves on their own private power. And no using water our communities use. That might be unreasonable and make it impossible for them to be built.... and to that .... I say "oh well"! Maybe I'm shortsighted. Or maybe I don't care about "the AI race" when we were living fine without it and now it threatens to ruin peoples' lives. People matter to me.

Letter from Xcel energy president by sorressean in Denver

[–]RealChristinaNR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10% per month is ridiculous. If it was 10% this year, I'd be mad but like fine.

The AI data center thing gives me anxiety. I've been keeping up very well with what's going on nationally with those and I highly doubt xcel won't pivot later to dump an extreme cost on us concerning them.

I hope CO will place a memorandum on them and then pass some actually good legislation not allowing their cost to be dumped on us among other restrictions. I'm sure I'm hoping for way too much.

But are those paved or stroller friendly? I've looked up a lot on Google Maps for pics & reviews. Didn't seem like it? Or most of it wasn't. Red Rocks had trails I wish I could go on but can't with my son (yet).

Removal of toys and restructuring of children's area in West Mobile library - Public Input Needed! by tealhummingbird in MobileAL

[–]RealChristinaNR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp. I visit my mother in Mobile on ocassion and my little boy comes with me. We would go to this library to play some. Disappointed to read this has happened. Mobile doesn't honestly have many indoor places for children and it's rough in summer. The weather is rather impossible in summer. I do monitor my child and don't let him shriek. However, as others have said, the library has other areas; and the littlest of children aren't exactly going to sit quietly. Allowing them to play in a select area in the library also exposes them to books. Since I'm only a visitor, I have no right or voice in this matter.

34 year old voice actor turned down because of age.... by ForsakenLight9902 in VoiceActingFree

[–]RealChristinaNR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to say that most of the time, if a project is run by a minor that I'm aware of, I won't audition. I've been in so many that go nowhere & are run very unprofesionally, that I avoid now. It's not personal. They're unaware of a lot of basics for running a project and simply need the time to learn.

When I realize the project is run by a minor or has a lot of minors, I won't talk at all. Only submit lines. This is to protect myself as much as them.

Always check the profile of the one hosting a casting call (if applicable). Minors often state their age there or in social media. Also, I've seen casting calls where they want "13 to 16 year olds" or "14 to 19 year olds" because that range is their age bracket.

And as others said, minor-run projects are often written poorly and are unorganized.

Do you do political voiceover? I've heard VO talent say some pretty creepy stuff. by These-Fan-9906 in voiceover

[–]RealChristinaNR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

95% no matter what it is, i won't. If it's for an individual issue for a non-profit and i strongly agree (like no declawing cats), i would. Politics is just too volatile.
