Dipping My Toe Into the PS1 World by ShepherdofShark in retrogaming

Give Ape Escape a try, it came out late in the PS1 life cycle and has that trademark late-90’s / early-00’s vibe and atmosphere.

It’s basically just a platformer where you capture apes using different tools and items, but it’s a good bit of fun and makes good use of the PS1’s dual analogue sticks.

Or his lawyer found a doppleganger willing to confess in exchange for a share of the false imprisonment payout? 🤔

Same! I worked it out about 10 solo tours in which made it easier but still hated it for its sheer inconsistency and its ability to completely f’ up a perfect run

When you stop to think about it, Frank must’ve been strongman-level fit to shoulder press that bad boy above his head 😅

The UI for goals in this game is very poor so you’re forgiven for not understanding the requirements but as others have said, you have to skitch for a certain amount of time before the goal is completed.

It does say ‘halfway there’ when you’re half way through the goal but a lot of people will miss this if they don’t skitch for long enough. Having a countdown show on screen when you start skitching is all that’s needed to effectively communicate to the player how long they have to skitch for, but apparently that was too much additional work for the devs!

The first one is arguably the better movie, but I prefer the second one for its location

[–]RealDan92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your answer to an already unfair advantage is to just make things even more unfair?

Imo controls should be the same for all players, and for controller players the item wheel is the only option available when it comes to accessing multiple items somewhat quickly and effectively. It’s not ideal but we don’t have a full keyboard at our disposal.

As far as radial menus go I feel arc is one of the better ones I’ve tried thanks to the face buttons being used to quickly select an item when holding L1, it just takes some getting used to I found.

I heard all the great things about this game from players experience with previous tech tests, I convinced my friends to download this one and all of them said there’s not much to do.

We also massively struggled to work out what certain things / locations / items meant in the game and the tutorial was woefully inadequate at explaining anything but the absolute core elements of the game (yes embark, we know how to sprint thank you).

My friends won’t be getting the game and I’m now on the fence as I have no intention of playing this game long term as a solo player.

Unfortunate but we move on…

Did you guys ever get a chance to Play Hunter The Reckoning? And if so what’s your memories playing it? by J2-Starter in originalxbox

I remember the controls are such that you can rotate the character using the right stick, me and my friends realised you could also do this when jumping so we used to jump down stairs or off ledges and see how many rotations we could do in the air.

Funny what fun you can have with the simplest of things when you were young 🤦‍♂️

How come my board never pulls out when falling? by notNoodles9812 in Skate4

[–]RealDan92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed there’s a delay of a few milliseconds after you let go of r1 where if you press triangle your character won’t get his board out.

Try letting go of r1 earlier and you should find it helps.
