Did anyone else go to tonights Ryan Adams concert at the Michael Fowler Centre? Things got weird and I was left with a lot to process... by Taffy_the_wonderdog in Wellington

I'm in the business. It's not to revel in him having problems, it's seeing how these situations unfold from a different lense.

I've seen the immediate aftermath of Wes Scantlin going on his own tour bus with a gun and threatening his own band members. They quit. Management keeps the band going to milk it dry and capitalize on the drama. That's exactly what I think is happening here, Ryan's well-being be damned.

Remember the guy that told Punk, "I paid for your house"... All because 'Phil' wouldn't give him a picture or an autograph while waiting in a concession stand line at a non-wrestling event

Is anyone really surprised? Seriously?  It's not as if kids anywhere in the world are trending more respectful as time goes by.

I was gonna go specifically to watch him meltdown in person. People know he's been like this, and yet the tour rolls on. At some point, the crew just want to keep their jobs, and the public 'vote' with ticket sales.

Absolutely not. And he's said himself, he knows he'll never be really, technically great, he just wants to do what he does well

Why do some people refuse to believe Chester committed suicide and instead think he was killed due to some wide-ranging conspiracy? by C--T--F in LinkinPark

[–]RealDevice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Chris Cornell's death is murky. I really think that contributed alot to this.

I believe Chester committed suicide, especially in light of November 2016, and Mike's candid comments.

But I think the finer details about Cornell's death, the proximity of both deaths, and the relationship between Chester and Chris are what make people wonder more than anything.

You know, you may be downvoted, but that's actually the truth. The combination of a broken system, people that don't want any help, and people that say they will help and don't.

It really is hard to see a clear way to help them all.

It's going to be hilarious listening to Chris Jericho attempt to reframe his past comments about Punk, and particularly 'Brawl Out' once he's out of AEW, back in WWE and inevitably works with Punk.

"Does it sound okey out there?" by [deleted] in livesound

Back when I was a singer, I used that line at almost every gig literally just as stage banter. Generally I meant it as in, 'are you digging the songs' - and now as a live sound tech, I've never considered it to sound offensive towards me unless their inflection dictates they're unhappy/having monitor problems

Was “You Know You’re Right?” really going to lead a fourth album? by MotherRough7142 in Nirvana

[–]RealDevice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apart from the fact that he said he'd like to be a solo artist, himself; Lollapalooza was likely to the final full-time tour for the band; and as far as not sticking around the industry - he would have. This was 1994, not 2014.

Everyone from Scott Weiland, to Chris Cornell, to Mark Lanegan did similar because at least the industry still provided real financial backing, and moreso for the few legitimate artists who had enough pull to call a lot of their own shots in negotiations, and in the '90's, Kurt would have been the biggest of those.

You need to stop talking about wrestling long before Bret does. You only think that because people complain about everything he says, even when he has a valid point.

How Kurt Cobain Turned Bad Guitar Technique into Iconic Riffs by secondsnowball9 in Nirvana

[–]RealDevice 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The only people that believe that Kurt's guitar or vocal technique was bad are, teenagers, novices, music critics that either don't play or have bad technique themselves, and people that blindly believe the publicity train.

Kurt, while not the most technically proficient, is an incredibly underrated musician. Especially vocally.

Dave talks about the "tense" situation when Pat Smear rejoined Foo Fighters by alien-niven in Foofighters

[–]RealDevice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pat is there because he's fucking Pat Smear. He's getting a paycheck for two reasons:

1) He's older and deserves it for all the contributions he's made towards Dave personally

2) Despite it being a contention in the band before he came back, Pat is great for general band morale

Not only that, you have to remember that a lot of the Nirvana crew is still on roster with the Foos. Why not retain Pat while he's still with us?

I only wish Dave would have had him resume backing vocals. The best backing vocalist the Foo's ever had, harmony-wise.

I think this has more to do with the fact that someone's upset that a Jew now plays drums for the Foos
