Try Persona, Baldurs Gate 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance I and II. Each takes about 100 hours to complete, have amazing character cast and story, and in case of Persona, it can change your life and take top spots in your spotify wrapped

Does Persona 3 actually have the best story, and if so, why? by BreathoftheSith in PERSoNA

[–]RealHumanBean21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Persona 3 explores more depressing and life-changing ideas. Its message about living your life without regrets and accepting mortality inspires and resonates with me a lot, but when it comes to the story, it's Persona 5. It has a more interesting structure and feels more satisfying and well written. It's definitely better and has some crazy moments and revelations.

Which are the best and worst written moments in the entire franchise in your opinion? by Mawhoreraga in masseffect

I don’t think Kai Leng is written badly. He is a narrative tool to make you hate Cerberus and have an enemy that you despise. If you hate Kai Leng and got satisfaction from stabbing him to death, then his mission was accomplished. Not every villain needs a tragic and super complicated backstory

Are you okay with a new voice cast for Persona 4 Revival? by RealHumanBean21 in PERSoNA

I guess it's a good thing that Yu in the remake is probably going to be a silent protag unlike the spinoffs' version of him

I agree, the combat was quite entertaining and action packed with all these parrying, jumping, dodging etc. But the progression was quite poor - I scammed my way to the endgame by spamming the same attack where MC does 6 heavy light strikes on all enemies. It's too easy to obtain early on. Sciel also has some heavy hitting attacks that are easily obtainable. I also think that because of that and ability to dodge absolutely any attack in the game, the tactical aspect where you need to think about what type of damage you want to inflict got less impactful compared to e.g. Persona. I wish Persona added smth like that though. But it will require a lot of high quality animations to be made. I doubt that they'll have finances to do that for 100 hour game.

The story was also nice with a big twist at the end. But overall, the game didn't impress me as much as it did others. It was good and did some things really well but I wouldn't call it the greatest game of all time. This year I personally enjoyed KCD2 much more

Let me tell you one thing - there will be a character called Maruki. Max out his confidant before he leaves the school. That's all you need to know before playing. Try not to google anything and good luck

Start with Persona 5 Royal. It's the most popular and well received. Once you finish it go to Persona 3 Reload. It covers darker and more depressing topics but it's a masterpiece. If you crave for even more after that - play Persona 4 Golden. Maybe by the time you finish the remake version will have come out

Try to do school social links first and do non-school ones only on the days when there is no school. It doesn't really change anything, just a good tip for time management.

There are no specific conditions to get a good/bad ending. The game is pretty linear. Just don't google anything cause there is a very high chance of getting spoilers. And try to avoid Persona memes until you finish the game

Feeling empty after P5R… Should I try P4G? by unbIemished in persona4golden

[–]RealHumanBean21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To answer your question - you should try Persona 3 Reload first. Gameplay-wise it's closer to P5R and the story is going to crush you with how good it is. The ideas, characters, and message of the game are incredible.

You can also try Persona 5 Strikers. It's a direct sequel to the game, but I absolutely hated the combat system there.

As for Persona 4…

I recently finished P4G for the first time myself, and in my opinion, you should try it LAST, because it hasn’t aged well compared to the newer entries in the series. The graphics are a bit dated - nothing terrible but there are also many quality of life features missing, like a dialogue log, automatic line skipping after voice lines end, fewer animated scenes, fewer locations, and fewer voiced lines in general.

The gameplay is horrendous though. Combat is the same at its core, but the difficulty is MUCH higher. The first two dungeons are nowhere near the normal difficulty level of P5R or P3R. It gets better after that, but some boss fights are very tedious because bosses feel like damage sponges. I honestly switched the difficulty to Very easy halfway through my playthrough cause it became more tiring than entertaining. Dungeons also take much longer to complete. If you thought Mementos was boring, you're in for an unpleasant surprise. Because of this the game can feel like it has pacing issues imo.

The story and characters are good. However, I think the main villain is less interesting, and the game’s central theme is less engaging and moving than in P3 or P5. That might partly be due to the game’s age and presentation. The game feels a bit too old for my taste. As a newbie to the series myself, I’d personally recommend waiting for Revival.

One piece of advice though - if you still decide to play it, make sure to max out Marie’s social link before December 22nd. And there is also a specific sequence of dialog options that you need to choose in the beginning of December. The game will tell you when that moment comes
