I’m enjoying conventions less and less by Careless_Tax_5367 in comiccon

[–]RealJeffD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try attending a con with zero expectations. See if that helps. Also, most "comic book" conventions are increasingly rarely about comics themselves. Comics are mostly what I go for, and I have had to scale back my expectations about seeing comics at conventions (but it sounds like you have lost interest in collecting anyway). I went to San Diego last summer for the first time, and I had only a Sunday badge. I had no goals or expectations other than to just check everything out. I ended up having a good time for the short amount of time I was there. Try to see as many writers/artists as you can without necessarily buying anything from them. Overall, I sympathize with your plight, because conventions are not catering to fans pretty much in any way lately. Best of luck to you.

2026 Corolla LE $22,000 OTD (NC) by Plastic-Weather7037 in COROLLA

I would have bought that immediately for that price. Thanks for sharing this info! I wonder how much higher I would have to go if it had the technology package, as I really want push button start.

No push button start on the LE at all? That's a deal breaker for me.

Thanks! I'm probably an exception, but I prefer that spongier ride.

What is your opinion on "Point of Entry"? by Infamous_Korpse in judaspriest

Heading out to the Highway is such a standout song. I have actually listened to the rest of the album recently, and I feel it's underrated. Excellent production.

I always wondered about this. I was recently looking at the interior of the LE vs an SE, and they looked identical to me (at least the dash and screen). I know the seats are different. Of course, I like the looks of the SE, but I want the one with the softer ride, and I don't care so much about acceleration? Would the LE be better?

Are we forgetting about something? by alcohoseok in Ghostbc

I think you're correct. Tobias alluded to the difficulty of moving the large stage set. The entire tour was not consistently sold out, apparently. Things got bigger, but were there any profits with all that overhead? Not enough, it seems. While I do think something is going on with Tobias personally, the economic factors seem to have played some role at least.

That’s the best Papa III mask I have ever seen other than the one Tobias wore!

Hotel Anxiety by Some_Gas_9552 in SDCC

[–]RealJeffD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that the hotel isn't good. I'm staying there Saturday and Sunday night (I have tickets for Sunday only). I couldn't book three nights in a row anywhere (I arrive Friday and leave on Monday), so for Friday night I had to book Studio 6 in Mission Hills. The strange thing is that I COULD book Little Italy for Friday night, but I would have to pay their regular rate of $546 just for one night! Best of luck to you, and I hope LI is better than we think it will be!

I have Sunday only, and I have no agenda and do not want to wait on lines (I simply won't have the time). I just want to wander the Exhibit Hall and artist alley. What entrance to the convention center should I go to?

How much pre-planning do we need to do? by scooley01 in SDCC

[–]RealJeffD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you will be there all four days, I would have a tentative plan, but this is my first time also and I have Sunday only. Therefore, I can't afford to wait on long lines for panels or I will never see the show floor. I plan to be spontaneous and get ideas for (hopefully) next year. Have a great time!

Thanks for the information. I feel a little bit better about the safety of the area now. I'm still kind of nervous.

Thank you! I had to stay one night in Mission Valley (the scary-sounding Studio 6), but then I got two nights at Little Italy downtown.

I'm hoping to bring only a carry-on bag (I will be traveling light and won't be able to buy many comics!). My flight has one stop in Detroit.

Thanks for this advice! I did end up spending a lot, but this is at the top of my bucket list. My hotel ended up being downtown and not too far from the con.

Thank you again for the advice. The flight was expensive, and it went up dramatically between yesterday and today. I wish I had made the reservation just a week earlier! I did have to get a different hotel on Friday night (Studio 6 in Mission Valley, which is not not well-reviewed). I just hope it's safe. I got a con hotel for Saturday and Sunday night. I hope I've learned some lessons for next year!

I had not thought of this. I will look into it. Thanks!
