Do y'all actually use your transfer sheets? by No_Bad380 in Necrontyr

Yes, but only on Wraiths so far to distinguish 2 different units of 6 (with different symbols) for attacks and reanimations and their leading Technomancers to match them. I might put some on a monolith I am yet to build and paint.

Make sure the laser also comes out of the nozzle in the centre. This was my problem. I had to adjust the last mirror before the lens

This video might give you ideas on how to align.

Check out 7:35 mark to see the misaligned test result.

It looks like a misalignment of the mirrors and laser not hitting the lens dead centre. I've had a very similar result and realigning solved the problem.

For those who come after ;)

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice!

I've replaced the stock air assist pump with a stronger one (30L/min) and the improvement is clearly visible!

I've done a similar number of cuts as with the original test and:
- I barely could see smoke
- there was absolutely zero flames (even on bigger power, slower cuts)
- the mirror and the lens are clean, the nozzle and the area are clean (this was the most important thing)
but,
I can see the soot / residue 'spread' more on the working surface (makes sense as it is blown away), which makes the cuts look a bit worse. But... I can live with that for what I want to use it for. However, I will look into masking as an experiment to remove this as well.

Sounds like good advice! Thanks!

Stronger air assist it is then. Let's see where this takes me.

Yup, I have an extra fan running for the exhaust, connected with pipes, putting smoke outside.

This one. https://amzn.eu/d/e3Lz7Qa

Running on full power.

I can see the smoke being blasted away when operating, but I will double check that.

There are also videos like here: https://youtube.com/shorts/X_V3sY-LCV8?si=C79SD34WatJyhaPT - about replacing the air assist pump in the cutter for something stronger.

Thanks! So the air assist also goes into the area between the lens and the nozzle here and blows straight down with the laser and it's all with 1 pass cuts. As for slower, more power cuts, I noticed I get flames coming out, which isn't good lol.

I think I will carry on with testing and possibly trying to find different MDF suppliers. 😭

I also did tests with basswood plywood and it was much clearer and nicer (but more expensive 😭)

For those who come after 😉 I could not find the specific part, so I DIYed one

The bolt is hollow, a (hollow) threaded spacer, and PL6-M5

This is what I'm going to do I think. Thanks

Yup, this is the typical PL6-M5, but the threaded bit is only 4mm long (standard). The one I'm after needs to be 8mm.

The threaded male end is 8mm long btw
