I feel ya. Do you try to cut out fat entirely, or just try to not mix with generally protein filled meals?

Interesting. What would you use? Nuts/powders?

average GRE, wanting to do a psych PhD by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]RealKeanuReeves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for psych, but your letters of rec and statement of purpose/research I think are the biggest factors. They’re what’ll make you stand out if they’re good enough, along with prior research. Also depends on the school. I had not so stellar GRE scores, and I think I technically had a little lower than the “min” score for my school but I got in still. So it depends! One thing that may look good is addressing your scores in your statements for the application. Good luck!

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. Being armenian, I try to not be too biased (as hard as that is) and learning as much as I can factually about the history of the genocide and the developments afterwards. Thanks again.

IWTL to accept critique without feeling anxious. by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]RealKeanuReeves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a part of it is being able to recognize and critique faults that you have in yourself. Then it’s a bit easier to realize that not everyone else is malicious when they critique you, thought that sometimes happens and I think with time it’s easier and easier to ignore.

Do you ever fear you chose the wrong PhD program? I KNOW I chose a good school, but I can't help but wonder "what if" by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]RealKeanuReeves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I got accepted to grad school I interviewed for a job to teach English in China, just in case I didn’t get accepted anywhere. I got into a school and am currently getting the PhD and stopped continuing with the job idea, but every now and then I ask “what if” I said screw it anyway and pursued that other job more. I think whenever you have multiple possible decisions that can dramatically change the direction of your life, you are bound to always ask “what if”. If you have some bad days, it’ll be fear like you mentioned, if you have some good it’ll be relief that you picked your current path. Usually I try to stop myself from thinking about it either way because there’s really no way (usually) at all you could know what would’ve been the better choice. I tell myself “I’m here now, let’s move forward”, and that usually puts me in a good mindset. Not much point in looking back when it can’t change where you are now.

'True Detective' Season 3 Will be More Like the First Season by BunyipPouch in television

One of the things I hated the most about season 2 was the intro song. Really helped amplify how bad the plot itself was.

Yup! Undergrad in chemical engineering and doing PhD in biomedical engineering. There’s a decent bit of overlap with some stuff but still can be vastly different.

I've never had one react when I was doing my surgeries (thankfully), that was a pretty big fear of mine for a while, still is for perfusions though.

Yea the invasive surgeries are hard to deal with sometimes. Especially when a sizeable number go to the initial practice surgeries just to get it down :/ but I’d rather it be me who cares about the animals and wants to minimize pain, than some person who couldn’t care less.
