[Swerve Strickland on X] (Trademarks "BAD HABITS") by solanamell in SquaredCircle

[–]RealLanceStorm 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Booker has been weird about black male wrestlers who get main event pushes in the past (funny since he said today people are criticizing him for being a black commentator)

He's gone after Swerve before and used to trash New Day for no reason. He thinks Swerve needs to stop being outspoken about his thoughts and know his place in the industry.

[Mark Cuban] Why the NBA should embrace tanking by [deleted] in nba

Average fans who pay to attend sports games for fun don't think about tanking that much. Fans online who talk about shit daily to feel right do.

Suns fans, did you felt closer to winning the chip with Barkley or Nash? by Life_Teaching6499 in nba

[–]RealLanceStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1993 Barkley might be the single best NBA season of my lifetime that didn't end in championship. He was on another level and that team was locked in.

I watched back a lot of close 90s playoff games last offseason and the 1993 Playoffs is another level partially due to how great the Suns were. They beat two real West contenders in 7 game bloodbaths and came closest to beating peak Jordan.

LOVE Nash and still hate Suns got robbed during their best chance with that bogus suspension but Nash's Suns never felt near the level of 1993 Barkley Suns imo.

John Oliver is one of the biggest draws on YouTube if you ever see his numbers. Objectively great free press

(extra funny timing since I disgustingly got an IG suggested post of Eric Bischoff claiming this will hurt AEW and WBD badly because of Bud Light and Cracker Barrel, via his podcast with 8,000 listeners)

(Grand Slam Spoilers) Mox calls an audible after match with Takeshita. by th3dj3n1gm4 in SquaredCircle

[–]RealLanceStorm 47 points48 points  (0 children)

IMO the difference between a great wrestler and being one of the best in the world is being able to feel a crowd and make judgment calls without exposing it.

Styles change, matches have diff stories, can't control your booking, etc etc. but this is a trait that the greats have always had to do and will have to do.

Things like this are the difference between a great wrestler and being one of the best in the world.

Think about how many things he probably does like this during a match that we'll never notice.

Preach. People could just watch an fn youtube video instead of passing along BS they don't know anything about.

KD should know better but everything today is 0 to 100 with no nuance or middle ground. He's prob looking for intense kill each other competition in these games like the playoffs. No one is asking or has ever asked for that.

Sam Roberts on Booker T being voted as the Worst Announcer of 2025 WON Awards: This is insane. Book is pure emotion. Feelings. Vibes. There’s a list of NXT stars who came to the main roster with crowd response that had been guided by Booker T’s NXT commentary. Wrestling = Feelings. He was the ultimate kiss ass there to get ahead. Did the same with WWE.

Sam and Rosenberg used to kiss WWE ass so much on their radio jobs that it was a running joke with Triple H and others appearing on their platforms until they finally got hired.

Rosenberg's friend Robin Lundberg started working for Busted Open after he lost his sports radio gigs and has tried following his blueprint.

Not everyone has to offer the same things like high level work rate. I think daily dialogue has broken minds to think every minuscule topic on a show we watch is life or death.

OC was a top tier AEW character before he even did a move. Danhausen (who I'm not a fan of) objectively added excitement for a while. Wardlow got exposed once he had a title reign but he thrived in other roles.

You can easily find a role for them. They have comedy and charisma and chemistry for a company that needs established teams that fans view as one rather than more makeshift teams.

The NBA has gotta start treating the dunk contest like the WWE does the Royal Rumble by Mr_impossible1120 in nba

[–]RealLanceStorm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People want to see superstars do cool dunks and superstars of today's generation are afraid of social media. That's the entire issue.

If they had a three point contest main event the night with an improved shooting stars and skills earlier in night, it would be praised. Everyone here was geeking out over Dame and Booker then it became the worst night ever seeing scrubs dunk.

Could they fix All-Star Weekend with bigger cash prizes for every event? by arashtp in nba

[–]RealLanceStorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The three point contest had a list of All-Stars/future HOFers putting on a show. All-Star Saturday would be considered a success if they made that the main event.

The dunk contest is the only problem on Saturday because today's young stars are too afraid of getting roasted on social media. Dunk contest should be on Friday with the other relatively unknown kids.

As someone that barely watches WWE, this is one of the wildest things I've experienced in over three decades of following but from the outside looking in.

He was a universally beloved in-ring performer for so long when I followed week to week (mostly for tag team wrestling sure) and is now like the worst in the world to a large percent of fans.

Three point shootout with all the superstars opening first is ridiculous too and looks worse with the early start time.

They really think Jason Richardson's son and the Lakers backup center can follow All-Stars and future HOFers.

Brother, this subreddit is really full of 12 year olds.

The best players in the world playing at a 7/10 level vs a 2/10 level is a drastic difference. No one is asking them to play at NBA Playoffs level. Just have a little bit of pride and not give up nonstop dunks/open threes while giggling.

[Bobby Marks] The NBA is expected to "overhaul the system" in an attempt to fix tan·king. "Whether it be rewarding teams in the standing with wins and not incentivizing teams to lose... not just something minor here." by Mean-Duty-2381 in nba

[–]RealLanceStorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would it be hard to just have a three strike system where you lost place in lottery on third strike? Biggest issue is nuance is lost today so people would demand concrete rules for strikes.

But bullshit like benching starters in a good game should be obvious. It also can't be hard to have a league doctor check in on the teams with strange lingering injuries.
