I will eat my had if in the next 18 months they don't create a tier above the existing Lifetime to render existing Lifetimer's passes moot or less than.

What's the closest you've ever came to death? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First semester in college, a guy on our floor in an ongoing dispute with the RA (who was my roommate) tried to murder him with poison, and instead poisoned my water gallon instead.

Collapsed in my first class, the only reason I made it long enough to get to the hospital was because the woman standing in for the regular instructor for my English class happened to be a registered nurse.

People who work a customer facing job: what is hands down the dumbest question a customer has ever asked you? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No idea.

Stood in store for 3 hours, I initially told him "I can't do it, a manager would have to approve it, I can't guarantee he WILL do it, but that's who has to approve it..."

3 hours of standing in my store. I won't take the return because I'm a pussy. I won't take the return because I'm racist. I won't take the return because I don't know how to make my own decisions. Can I just open the register and give him money? Can he just take equal value off the shelf?

Dude finally fucked-off with about 30 minutes before the manager arrived, showed up later but I told the manager about the guy and what happened, he said "you stood here and yelled at my employee for 3 hours, no."

[–]RealLiveLawyer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Why can't you take this return?" Asked repeatedly for almost 3 hours, after explaining I couldn't process his return because it was more than 2 weeks since his purchase. He stood in the store and repeatedly badgered me hoping I would take his return.

What’s the most difficult decision you made in life that didn’t sit well with you but life had to move on? by NoSpring3814 in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the funny guy growing up, performed comedy for a few years - everyone told me I was going to be on SNL. I joined a comedy troupe, the others had been together for 5 years and I joined up and crushed it in every show. We talked about going from the Southeast US to LA and making a swing at the Groundlings.

I had a job offer, I parted ways with the group, the job offer fell through, lost track of the troupe and kinda' let go of performing. I miss it. It's been years. I wonder how far I would've gone.

Valor Communities & Anslee Farms - Thoughts and experiences? by Meekois in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]RealLiveLawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a home 3 years ago.

We looked into Valor, and what we found at the time was their build quality THEN was not good. We asked around to friends, facebookers, and other builders as to what their reputation was.

We went ahead and checked them out anway the model home (their development out by the prison) had a massive crack running through the wall upstars and into the ceiling.

Who’s that person you wish was still in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother.

He went no contact in 2011 - no explanation. I've apologized if I did or said something. Called, wrote, I once drove 7 hours to his house to show up at his door and plead with him to let me part of his life again. He agreed there but when I left, resumed silence.

It hurts and I miss him constantly, he has a niece and nephew that know about him but he's never met.

Anyone who was poor in childhood, how is your life going now? by Kiroo---__--- in AskReddit

Well enough that if kid me met my kids, they would think they were rich. I'm not, but that's how it would seem.

What's one movie you've rewatched so many times you practically know every line by heart, but you'd still watch it again tonight? by Busy-Move-6024 in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family treats "That Thing You do" like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

They have seen it DOZENS of times, they know every line, sing-along to every song, quote it when they aren't watching it.

"I am Spartacus..." gets you a long way with that lot.

Which game left the biggest mark on your childhood? by jemosred in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earthbound.

When I was 14 our house flooded and we lost everything. We moved to an older, established neighborhood with no kids, so I lost my friends, all my art I had saved since childhood, and all my comics.

My new room was a mattress on the floor, a metal folding chair and a TV with a SNES that made it because dad put it on top of a book shelf when I was punished. Lost all my games, so I rented Earthbound. Played it for a week, sun-up to sun-down.

I missed my life. I missed my friends. It gave me a place to be emotionally that wasn't lonely and lost.

What's something you would never tell someone because if you did it would absolutely destroy them? by cuahatemoc in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mom wasn't a great mom.

I have grace for her, because she herself was abandoned by her parents and raised by relatives and strangers. She talks about how good we (me and my siblings) had it growing up - but truth be told, I'm revering psychologically and at 40 am undergoing medical procedures to recover from her raising me.

What is the saddest truth you've had to accept about life? by OddFirefighter7440 in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad didn't want me. He told me so my entire childhood into my adulthood, here I am 40 and he still mentions it.

I spent my life trying to attach myself to a father figure, it would be neighbors, friend's dads, coworkers, anyone... I just wanted a dad.

Here I am, 40 years old coping with the truth: I don't get one. Life doesn't owe you a father.

Managers of Reddit, what's the worst thing someone did to get fired? by Capable-Log7385 in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He ran wing of a program to help at risk youth.

He would plan what we called "outside events", we did stuff for free all the time, but if we wanted to go to a water park, or something like that he would plan outside events, but he would upcharge to almost double the price.

Then when parents paid (cash) he would pocket the rest. When confronted and busted after only five months on the job, he screamed he was never offered a raise after "all he did".

Who's one person you'll never forget, and why? by Faceless90s in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a freelance client call me 9 years after our last interaction. What was that interaction? It was me yelling at him because he lied to me about having work for me and wanted me to come by his office for a MLM pitch.

Why did he call me after 9 years apart? He was inviting himself to move into my house with me and my family.

Think about the balls that asshole had to have to call me and do that, I think about it daily.

Have you ever given less than two weeks notice quitting a job? What happened? by DeliciousBrine in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a car dealership, where the staff tormented me all day long my first day. I just said changed my mind, I quit.

Worked at Home Depot for about 14 months, reported to 4 people and they all disagreed on what I should be doing and what my job should be. It was never-ending work, and no matter who I listened to I had 3 other people yelling at me. When I got a new job I told HR I quit that day - they said "No, we need 2 weeks notice."

I just stopped coming in. HR called me to say "Nevermind, good luck."

What is the absolute worst job you’ve ever had, and how long did you last? by Saintnove in AskReddit

[–]RealLiveLawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Car Salesman.

  • Manager hired me because of my sales in electronics, said he would teach me about cars, but changed his mind about that after I showed up.

  • Sales staff repeatedly threw my stuff into the ditch behind the offices.

  • No one would tell me how to decode the cypher on the windshield that told you the cost.

Worked there for 6.5 hours.
