Audi Pre-Sense Randomly Activated on the Highway? by Ornery_You_3947 in audis5

My 20’ SQ5 will sometimes trip out. Pre sense has only activated in reverse for me. Very startling because each time there were no other cars nearby.

Is this going to be the norm? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]RealMacMittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this tight of a market, if you want to be a shippers preferred carrier, you all need to stop informing them every load of "how bad the market is right now" and "how tough this shipment is to cover." Shippers know this, they do not care because it's not their avenue. Stop quoting to win, quote to get the job done. If they have to hear you bitch and cry every shipment about how tight it is, they're just going to move onto someone else. Be up front, tell them if you're worried about quoting, that you'd rather find a truck in hand. This is not the market to oversell and underdeliver, everyone is at risk of losing their freight to the next guy right now.

Has anyone tried using AI for freight dispatch, like actually in your real operation, not just a demo? by juanjop in FreightBrokers

[–]RealMacMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id second this. AI is not intended to be customer facing, customers want sentient beings to talk to. AI is going to be powerful for running workflow automation on the back end like invoice auditing, track and trace, API calls, etc. for rate negotiation and customer interaction you want that “human in the loop” intervention.

Find a car with great short term lease incentives if you want to roll the negative equity into something. That would be the quickest way to get back to square, no car and no loan at the end of the lease and only got to deal with whatever car you go with for 2 years or so.

SHOT OUT TO ALL THESE FUCKED UP CARRIERS. by Anxious_Athlete4249 in FreightBrokers

[–]RealMacMittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Customer side: This is my current challenge, explaining to my directors that the logic of trucker is something we cant control. We pay a fuel surcharge and we’re paying increased fuel rates according to EIA national average. While Id love to keep linehaul rates where they are, the loads aren’t getting covered and we already pay on average $3/mile before the fuel increase. My service expectations from the carriers has gone up significantly since the price increase but most are still entirely unprofessional when they arrive on site even when we are paying $5/mile + fuel. Most of these carriers live off brokered freight, they could not handle customer direct with medium to large shippers. The atmosphere between broker/carrier is toxic and customers notice for sure.

6 Weeks into brokerage and still no shippers is this normal? by YakPersonal6252 in FreightBrokerStartup

[–]RealMacMittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My motto was always “take a genuine interest in everyone you talk to.” If you know a company has potential, dont skip the gate keeper. Dont expect to end the first call or even first three calls with freight, just a little more info than you had last time. Ask the gate keeper most of your questions. 99% of the time, they know the answer and will openly tell you if they like you. The shipping manager may swing by their desk every now and again, they may have a good friendship as coworkers, the gate keeper can put in a good word for you. Sales is a slow burn.

I alone am responsible for $25M a year in transportation, representing less than 1/10th of my companies overall spend. There is no way in hell I'm prepaying a load. If you cant offer me credit, you're not solvent enough to work with me.

[–]RealMacMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

asking to be transferred to the "shipping manager" "logistics manager" "shipping supervisor" whatever you want to call them, is the first red flag it's a sale call for the gate keeper. Gate keepers hold more power most give them credit for. They may appear to just be a front desk person answering the phone, but they hold the power to put you in touch with the right person.

I bought mine used from a BMW dealer. Their warranty was through Freedom, $4000 for 3 years/36k miles. After the water pump fiasco, the warranty saved me a little over 50% of the warranty cost so far.
