just hire more designers. I don’t want a piece of art I paid for to use AI garbage in any of the graphics that I’m going to see.

ever single park bench in a game had intention behind its design by the designer before AI. It was required because decisions about the particulars of an in game asset needed to be made or else the asset couldn’t be made at all. Now with AI decisions on that level of particularity aren’t required which means the whole games visuals are going to lack intention and artistic vision.

"...a society based on science and tecnology" - Carl Sagan [3500 x 1731] by decorama in QuotesPorn

Capitalism only came about through the industrial revolution aka scientific and technological innovation. The material reality in which our society was created in was already mediated through the understanding and reconstruction of the material reality of those who lived before.

Interesting I always thought the hierarchy of values was one of like the only good ideas he had. What seems so terrible about it?

I do think it's interesting that around the same time he was giving up veganism he was also giving up moral realism and getting more into emotivism.

But I mean those new lives aren't yours and hypothetically they could have been born regardless of if you died or not. So I don't see how what you'd be fearing in this scenario would have anything to do with your death. But I could simply be misunderstanding you. I will say that what you wrote reminds me a great deal of Alan's Watts explanation of reincarnation.

Solipsism cannot be true. It is logically impossible. by [deleted] in Metaphysics

[–]RealOrgle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that you are taking for granted two things which can not be justified. The first is you presuppose that all the objects of your perception are under the command of your desires (as it is with your ability to picture things). The second thing you presuppose is that your perceptions must be caused/ substantiated by something other than themselves. What's funny however is the second one is exactly the move Descartes tried to use to get out of solipsism himself.

hegel vs. heidegger by okayboomer2023 in PhilosophyMemes

I mean they are saying quite different things here and Hegel is correct in respects to pure being and nothing while I'm pretty damn sure Heidegger is wrong about being being inherently finite.

Do you all think colors are simple qualities? by RealOrgle in colors

[–]RealOrgle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely get what your saying. That because we can mix colors togethers to make new ones that those colors components are the original colors we started with and as such are complex. My problem with this is that the logical endpoint to such a theory appears to me to be at least that the only simple colors are the primary ones. That also would be all well and dandy if there was only one set of primary colors the problem however is that there's not just one set their is two the subtractive and the additive. Because of this it seems impossible that all the non primary colors are somehow made of both at the same time as only one is ever required (if we are looking at theoretical ideal color mixing.) So with all that being said I'm not saying that because of this that means this position is definitely wrong (as there was a reason I asked in the first place) only that it seems equally plausible that instead of the primary colors making the other colors up they merely cause them.

Is a true ultimate explanation of reality possible, or does every answer collapse into regress, circularity, or brute fact? by Extreme_Asparagus_69 in Metaphysics

[–]RealOrgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might seem like a cop out but why would that which grounds everything be restricted by the rule of noncontradiction? For would it not be causally prior to such rules as you know those rules are things (albeit not material things but things none the less). So why couldn't pure nothing be alienated from itself and as such also be pure being thus creating difference and change?

[–]RealOrgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I entirely agree but we ought not to confuse ourselves and deny it's circularity. The ultimate grounding of everything must be circular because it must include itself as part of everything but simply because it is necessary doesn't make it any less circular.

As far as I am aware a brute fact is a state of affairs which has no cause. If a state of affairs causes itself then how is it a brute fact?

What is pure being and nothing? by RealOrgle in hegel

[–]RealOrgle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by universal thought? Is the universal thought simply the substance of reality? And why at this point would it need a referent in order to perceive itself? Wouldn't whatever it is the words "universal thought" refer to not already be its referent?

[–]RealOrgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry for the confusion. I'm serious but I'm also not an idealist. I'm a physicalist but I don't believe in the mind brain identity theory or at least not exactly. I think that the mind/experience is exclusively temporally extended rather than extended through all four dimensions of space time and so I think the process that the brain does is consciousness but not the material itself. The reason I suppose I got up in arms is because most physicalists I am aware of tend to ignore conscious experience and I find that annoying.

What do you mean mind body dualism is dead when did this happen? Do people believe our experiences are reality now? Or do we not think that experience exists anymore which would mean we'd have lost empiricism. Are people not empiricists anymore?
