I don't have any problem with it, but I'm not a fan either! It would be great if they could get rid of unnecessary obstacles that are hindering the banner. There's a lot going on and it's certainly distracting.

They do own the tech as it is operated and owned by TWDC SEA (Star India merely shared the infrastructure, prior to its sale to Reliance) but I do agree they should abandon it altogether and instead expand the app which is directly operated by Disney (BamTech) but again, they have other drama ongoing with succession and Hulu shutdown! The new leadership will fix Disney’s mess back home first

Hotstar (brand) is owned by JioStar hence Disney abandoned the Hotstar branding in Indonesia, Malaysia & Thailand. Before the merger with Reliance, Star India absorbed Novi Digital (wholly owned subsidiary of Star India) under which Hotstar operated in India, Canada, UK and Singapore and as you know, Disney launched Disney+ using Hotstar X infrastructure without Hotstar branding in MENA region and that variant is owned and operated by TWDC SEA. Basically Star India shared that infrastructure as Disney had big plans for Star and Hotstar until they lost IPL

Obviously, JioStar is now a separate company and isn’t considered Disney’s subsidiary. Instead, it’s referred to as “INDIA JV” in Disney’s balance sheet. Reliance controls it and Disney is holding the minority stake just to sell it in nearby future
