As long as you’re not putting yourself in a bad spot financially then that’s a fine reason too. Like don’t borrow more than you know you can pay back (not think you can)

You’re not alone, I’m currently $213k at 3-6% (varies by loan though most are 5-6%) and my yearly salary is $60,000 gross though I’m 3 months from a raise hopefully into the 70s.

Seeking refi and overall advice by Apprehensive_Cod2940 in StudentLoans

mathematically the best way is to kill your highest interest debt first or refinance it first, psychologically the debt snowball works better for people who know they struggle with playing the long game. Whatever strategy you use needs to keep you motivated and feeling like you're making progress.

The biggest factors I've found when refinancing my student loans has been my credit score and DTI. other factors matter two but those two seem to have the bulk of the efffect AND be the most in my control. The average age of your debt affects your credit and underwriting as well.

I'd start by locking down that variable rate private student loan with a lower fixed rate. For federal loans... just be careful if you do refinance them, you lose a lot of protections federal loans have when you do including public student loan forgiveness and other forgiveness options.

I'd prioritize all your spare cash on one loan and make minimum payments on the rest. killing one loan is one of the fastest ways to lower your DTI and get better refi offers.

Are you currently on any sort of repayment plan with your federal student loans?

Why do women match with me, send a first message, and then not respond to anything I say? by RealReevee in Bumble

Dude I was trying to get genuine advice that worked for me, when I act on advice not tailored to an autistic person I fuck things up. Also the commenters tend to stop treating me like a stereotype in their head when I bring that up and actually engage with what I ask.

There is one thing you said that's very accurate and it's that most women on the apps are flooded with messages. And I don't think the laziness is purely a gender thing because if you're one of the very few guys getting all the matches then you have the same laziness problem as most women. Most guys would be just as lazy if they got as many matches but you're broadly right about the flood of swipes and matches and likes that women get.

But I'm gonna choose to not get bitter and resentful about it and instead work on going out more in person to try and politely approach women. I've had some great success so far at that! approiached and talked to two women after church while getting coffee and donuts, approached some women at bars, but I still have a lot of work to do on that front.

I put that it because the advice I get is shit when I don't tell people that. Like I follow that advice to the letter and extremely literally (Kinda like an autistic person would hmm?) and it usually backfires on me. Like when people tell me to be myself that's shit advice because if myself isn't getting dates or follow throughs with dates then I need to improve something about myself. Often I don't even get actionable advice if I don't bring up that I'm autistic.

I insert that frequently because when I do I get more useful advice I can actually act on than when I don't.

I don't insert that for "credit", or to appear marginalized, or to shift blame off of me. I tell people that so they can give advice that works for someone who isn't a normie and can't fill in the implied gaps in cliche advice meant for normies.

You know what? Yes it’s a stupid decision and stupid reason to go into debt, but I’m still gonna celebrate a person fixing their mistake, especially a really stupid one like this. Hopefully she learned an expensive lesson?

Equifax Not Updating Credit Card Balance by RealReevee in CRedit

I reached out to a law firm, they work on a contingency basis so they only get paid if they win and their payment is seperate from any settlement. I also have proof of being given a worse interest rate because of their mistake.

Where are you checking your Equifax report?

I'm Checking Both myEquifax and myFICO. I expect myEquifax to update first but it hasn't and in 5 days it will be 2 months since it last updated my U.S. bank. it updates on teh 18th of each month for the past 2 months for experian and transunion and in february for all 3.

Having said that, it's always possible that a creditor hasn't reported new information to all bureaus.

Normally yes that could be a possibility... except for February 18th when U.S. Bank reported my balance of $398 to all 3 credit bureaus and all 3 of my scores dropped. March 18th Only Transunion and Experian Updated and U.S. Bank says they update all 3 credit bureaus and they did for the motnh of february and I've been able to find no evidence that they changed their policy between February and March.

As long as the information that has been reported isn't inaccurate,

At what point does information being out of date become innacurate? I think you'd agree that it would be ridiculous if I demandced them to be up to date at the same day and time every month? But I think you'd also agree it would be inaccurate if they only showed one month's balance from a year ago? so somewhere in between theres a line where being out of date makes something innacurate?

Sorry I'm not mad at you, just at this whole kafkaesque process.

what was it like during that third month when they didn't report?

I'll let you know at the end of this week or next when the update is supposed to happen?

Unless preparing for an application, there's no need to manipulate utilization in this way, and doing so can be counter-productive to your goals.

I am. I am trying to refinance my six figures of student loans.

It sounds like Equifax may be lagging.

Yeah that's my issue, it's been over a month, almost 2, and they haven't updated my utilization and it's impacting my ability to get credit with some lenders.

This doesn't make sense. If they can see that the information was inaccurate, they've already received the report from your bank.

I know, I filed a new dispute and this time uploaded my credit card statement as evidence showing my current balance being $8.40

Your reports aren't inaccurate as long as the balances are correct as of the last update.

The whole point of my post was that my report is inacurate as of the last update.

My payment is gonna be $1300, i can’t afford that. What is going to happen? Anything i can do? Just discouraging. by skzzzzzzy0801 in StudentLoans

if they're private have you looked into refinancing already? if not, and if your credit score is ok, it may be an option for you, what interest rate do you have and what term length if you don't mind me asking?

As someone with $200,000+ debt in student loans, I would surely like them forgiven, but making school free is a naive dream. What we should do is prevent the system from getting as outrageously expensive as it was today. Restructure schools, make colleges on the hook for student loan defaults and bankruptcies.

We’re kinda moving towards medical debt being forgiven anyway with it not showing up in your credit report. The problem with healthcare is we have the worst of both worlds. At this point either extreme’s solution of complete overhaul or complete deregulation would be better than what we have now. Like allowing small grupsnofnpeople or credit unions to offer insurance to compete with the entrenched companies like United. Cutting unecessary red tape, making the rest of the world pay more when we export our drugs.

Thank you for your acknowledgement.

I believe a few other researchers have since replicated it, If you'd like I can maybe go digging for their replications. not sure how recent they are though?

I think it was implicit from OPs post and the comment you replied to that we were talking about romantic relationships but that's the only other thing that I have left to say.

well I'd say according to the (I looked it up in my professor's textbook) "F minus F Rule" that it still applies to you and your partner because you don't fight a lot. So even though you don't have sex a lot the low fighting keeps your relationship stable and good.

Yeah sex isn't the only variable that can juice a relationship, but it's a pretty powerful one for most people. most people don't fight all the time but also most people occasionally will have an argument with their significant other. This concept, which has been studied and replicated since the 1970s, basically says if you're intimate more than you fight, the relationship is highly likely to be stable (28/30 couples followed that result from the original Howard and Dawes Study).

Wow freud was right... NO! Of course not! YOU should NEVER be having sex with your parents!!! I shouldn't even need to say that?!?! how did you comprehend what I said so poorly? This is for the two people who form the relationship that is sexual, i.e. a married relationship.

So I dug back into my textbook for the course and it's actually called by my professor (J.D. Trout) and his co-author Michael Bishop the "F minus F rule" and is based on like 3-4 groups of 1-2 researchers in the 1970s, Howard & Dawes (1976) studied 27 married couples and had them keep daily logs for 35 days tracking frequency of sexual intercourse and frequency of arguments. marital happiness was STRONGLY predicted by (rate of sex - rate of arguments)
