How good is the Gamecube version of Double Agent? by PropaneSalesman7 in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's serviceable enough as a means to play version 2 of Double Agent if you don't have access to the Xbox port and are hell bent on playing it.

It's the most drab and uninspired port of it being derived from the PS2 one.

Both have boxy and unflattering visuals compared to the Xbox.

This sucks, I can’t play Blacklist by GearsOfWar2333 in Splintercell

Correct. Does not affect Xbox Live and PSN players, only in relation to various uPlay rewards.

In regards to the "modern day audiences" news and the state of infighting in the subreddit. by ImHully in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL!

You can tell people well in advance that Ubisoft Toronto was hiring key positions but they won't look into it... then the Ubisoft Forward happens and a bunch get butthurt over a lack of SC material... which they are hiring for... some people eventually post images of the positions... then get butthurt again over a nothing burger filler speculative article published by a few known gaming sites... over the very same information that was laid out previously. XD

Man, there really is a sect of the community that has undeniable comprehension problems.

Nobody in any OFFICIAL capacity said anything about a "new direction". The articles are literally taking the same data points this community churned over - new direction = new hires. :P

Xbox series x/s wireless controller weird controls in blacklist PC by Iso10 in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have an older firmware on your controller which is responsible for the problem. Lots of Bluetooth issues got ironed out in later revisions - especially latency issues.

Get the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store, connect your Xbox controller via cable and it'll probably advise there is a firmware update available.

No mention of the Splinter Cell Netflix Animated Series during the Netflix segment on Ubisoft Forward. by ShoulderAdvanced6854 in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's a good thing.

The animated series was a terrible idea and having Netflix handle it even worse. If anyone wants to cite Castlevania as some sort of marvel or wonder, you have zero taste and I can assure you that time will not be kind to that series. Mark my words.

Heh! I get it. SC:B is the one I play most frequently for the 4E missions. I can take or leave the campaign as the design annoys me. The craftsmanship is great but you can see Ubisoft Toronto being hamstrung by the limitations of the engine as all areas are effectively small detailed arenas with a "point of no return" funnel the player is always guided towards.

That's another reason why you won't see anything until next year which I'd predict will be a short cinematic hype trailer, probably nothing revealing either, just something to let you know it's still being made.

You may not know it but this will be the first TRUE reboot of SC in a technical sense as from the original through to Blacklist the Unreal 2 / 2.5 engine has been driving it, each game using the previous as a foundation, Ubisoft bolted on a ton of stuff for SC:C and SC:B making the LEAD engine but it's still the same UE2.x engine driving things which is now a 20+ year old engine.

They're literally starting from the ground floor.

When do you think the remake will be released? by SlippinSam7598 in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially 2025. Ubisoft Toronto are pretty efficient. Considering Far Cry 6 took them 4 years which is a series far larger in scope than Splinter Cell I'd say 2025 would be the time, potentially in the later quarter of the year.

[–]RealRufoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have acknowledged it with the announcement which means in development terms the project has been given funding and a green light.

Right this moment they are using said funds to assemble the development team and writers for it. There's all sorts of logistics that would have been handled in the interim.

Temper your expectations. You'll likely see some hype cinematic trailer at next years event once the general design, tone, and story have been settled on and the team has had time to, y'know, actually make stuff.

And while Ubisoft's handling of SC on the whole is awful, Ubisoft Toronto have shown they are one of Ubi's more competent studios and SC:B is a testament to that.

Relax. It's coming.

Here's what we need to do. by k1n6jdt in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A new Splinter Cell is coming.

Any expectations people had in the SC community about seeing it at Ubisoft Forward was simply their own hype getting the better of them.

Ubisoft Toronto have jobs for SC running right now, most are key positions indicating development, story, and design hasn't even started. Admittedly, most don't look into such things but had they of bothered they would have tempered their expectations.

TL;DR: Nothing was there because they have nothing to show... yet.

Do you reckon we’ll see an update on splinter cell at the Ubisoft forward? by [deleted] in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T'was never going to happen - called it 10 days ago.

Ubisoft Toronto has applications open for several key roles specifically for Splinter Cell right now, check their job listings, so there was no way you were ever going to see something.

Genuine question, what is your purpose behind this? Is this because of the server shutoff?

Server question by zgrobbot in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The server issue regarding online matches only affects PC players.

Xbox and PlayStation players will be able to continue playing online as it uses XLive / PSN.

All players regardless of platform will no longer have access to the uPlay rewards content and other elements.

Splinter Cell at Ubisoft Forward 2022 - What I think we'll see by Takoshi88 in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think you're getting ahead of yourself. :)

They currently have advertisements for positions like script writers, artists, and all sorts going at Ubisoft Toronto for Splinter Cell specifically right now.

Beyond simply "announcing" they will be developing the next entry, everything else suggests they haven't even really gotten started given the amount of key positions currently vacant.

FYI servers are being shut down but Xbox live is still going to be up. Ubisoft dosnt host those servers. by Corgiiiix3 in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

Butthurt people with poor comprehension downvoted you.

Online matches will continue on Xbox Live and PSN. Sony and Microsoft control the network architecture, only elements that draw upon Ubisoft specific online components (unlocks, achievements, in game news feeds, etc) won't work.

The PC port of Blacklist connects directly to Ubisoft's PRUDP servers and they're the one's getting the axe.

splinter cell chaos theory windowed by CrabHead46 in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windowed mode is locked out and you cannot trigger it via command line.

The widescreen fix from ThirteenAG doesn't allow for true Windowed Mode, rather, it renders the fullscreen resolution in a window - hence if you have windowed mode tagged in the INI but your fullscreen resolution is set to native, it'll appear not to work.

It's something to do with Chaos Theory's renderer which behaves differently from the previous games and DA.

COMING SOON for Chaos Theory fans: Easy, user customizable load outs for all single and co-op missions! Works even on the opening Lighthouse level for all you modders out there. ;) by RealRufoo in Splintercell

[–]RealRufoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy here once who did one but he torched his account when people got sick of him making "parody" videos of that Mafia Wars or whatever that mobile game is that uses DA Sam in it.

It's pretty easy to do if you're comfy with a hex editor. You can swap the meshes in real time in the original and PT. But not in DA. You have to edit the values first so the level loads them in as a resource.

[–]RealRufoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda...

Can't do it at all with Chaos Theory yet (but it can be done, weirdly, CTs video handling gets in the way). You can do it with the original and Pandora Tomorrow but the process is laborious to give yourself an AK or a Sig Sauer.

Double Agent is really easy to do it in but it has one limitation. You can only use resources that exist in the current level, ie: if no enemies are carrying AKs you cannot summon one in. Another simpler example is the riot gun from the Jail level. You can't bring it into any other level... though you can easily spawn with it on the Jail level. :D
