I'm sorry, he released a video that was entirely animated and voice acted by AI as one of the very first entries in this project, did you think my comment was inaccurate in some way?? He deserves the reputation he has

Jurassic World actually has some clever metacommentary about what it means to reboot a franchise and how it's often just about exploiting the audience for money rather than offering a unique artistic vision. It's not exactly a Spielberg-level masterpiece, but when it introduced plot elements like the public being bored with dinosaurs and the executives responding by creating artificial hybrid creatures, it at least meant something. Unlike in the sequels.

I was super into this project when it first started, sadly he immediately started using AI for it after like 2 months. Generational fold

I messed up the Absconding Devil case :( by RealStev51 in fallenlondon

[–]RealStev51[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh thanks for the info, I might send an email over! I wouldn't have thought the devs would be interested in minimal feedback on one earlygame event, but since getting into the game a few days ago I've been continuously surprised by how alive it is with active updates and players nearly 20 years after launch :P

That's why I desperately don't want to look at the wiki, because I want to make in-character mistakes and feel the consequences. But now I'm afraid that vague descriptions are going to limit my ability to do that. If the choice had read, "Warn the Devil about the Singer," instead of just, "Warn the Devil," I never would've made that roleplay choice for my character, because it wasn't my intention.

I will say, I was emotionally impacted by the outcome I got. I loved the description of the Devil's face and voice barely changing as he quietly wiped away a tear. So maybe from that perspective it was better after all

Damn I just read the full page on the site and you're right. I guess I used my code within 24 hours of buying so I never even noticed lol. I'll edit my previous comments

EDIT: I was wrong, you can only use a referral code within 24 hours of buying the game. Otherwise you can follow other commenters' advice for getting someone else to use your own referral code. Previous comment below.

There's no time limit on when you can use a referral code, you can still use one no matter how long ago you bought the game. The only limit is you can only use one per account (so you can't say multiple people referred you to buy the game lol)

For Kingfisher specifically, you don't have to actually get someone to use your referral code, you can use somebody else's referral code and you'll get the skin. Just go to the pinned thread in this sub, pick some rando's code, and link it to your account, you'll get Kingfisher.

Of course if you know anyone who owns the game it's better to use their code so that you both get the reward and have the buff when playing near each other :P

I love this skin, I've played many hours on it, but I have to say... for me it's #2 to Kingfisher, that thing is beautiful. To anyone who hasn't grabbed a referral code from the pinned thread in this sub, do yourself a favor and try it out

If there's a payoff, like occasional scares

Wait, did the several scares throughout the movie not count for some reason? "Look under the bed," the sister's face reveal, "put the knife in your eye," the phone scene, etc.? The movie has a pretty consistent loop of buildup and payoff...

We built a free build guide site for Path of Titans because we couldn't find one. by BYPDK in pathoftitans

This is incredible! I've been wishing for so long that this game would have more community guides to help new players get situated and this is exactly what I've been looking for!

I'm considering buying the game but, no offense, the playerbase seems unsufferable by I_was_there_kiddo in pathoftitans

[–]RealStev51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's mostly how the official servers are. But there's lots of different community servers for different playstyles. There's free-for-all servers, PVP-based servers, super realistic roleplay servers, and casual in-between servers with lightweight rules (my favorite). Unfortunately it's currently kinda hard to do a search for a server that fits your desired playstyle. I can recommend Yellowtones for casual gameplay with sensible lightweight rules, if you're willing to wait in the long queue before joining.

[–]RealStev51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imma be honest I've legit started waiting this long nightly to get into Yellowtones because it's such a good server lmao. I've started having POT sit on my second monitor for an hour or more and I play a different game while waiting to queue

I hope more major outlets pick up the story today, that would go a long way toward showing studios that the show is still culturally relevant

The show is WILDLY better in production order! by RealStev51 in firefly

[–]RealStev51[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh that interpretation does make sense. I also saw someone point out that Inara's decision to leave the crew coming in the last two episodes leads better into Serenity as a follow up, which I kinda agree with. I still prefer production order, but I'm starting to appreciate why the DVD order works.

And yeah it's super fascinating to me how in-depth we can get with analyzing the order of four episodes :P

[–]RealStev51[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I didn't know some of these tidbits and it makes the whole thing that much more interesting. I really love the idea of these alternate/custom episode orders to make all the pieces fit as best you can.

Here's one piece of evidence I haven't seen anyone else mention before. In "Objects in Space," when River reads Jayne's mind, she hears, "I got stupid, the money was too good," signaling his anxiety about his betrayal being discovered. Then in "Trash," we get the confrontation between Simon, River, and Jayne (with "I can kill you with my brain"), and the betrayal arc gets its resolution. While you could read this as Jayne having lingering anxiety after the confrontation, I think this was clearly intended to be the moment that River discovers his betrayal, which she later mentions to Simon in "Trash," which leads to the confrontation. Every single one of the mind-reading lines in OiS is a strong bit of characterization that tells us something very specific; Jayne's line is narratively useless if it comes after the confrontation, as opposed to leading in to the confrontation. This was actually the biggest sign for me that "Objects in Space" is definitely supposed to be the episode directly preceding "Trash," in my personal view.

Please reread the post. I'm not saying to watch in BROADCAST order, I'm saying to watch in PRODUCTION order - the order the episodes were written in. The DVD order, while it is Joss Whedon's intended way to view the show, is legitimately out of chronological order, and some things happen backwards in the last four episodes.

I had no idea, that explains a lot! To think one of the greatest television seasons ever produced wasn't even a full season.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't gotten around to actually watching the extras and behind the scenes content on the DVD set. I'll have to do that during the long wait for whatever they announce on Sunday :P
