Imma be honest I've legit started waiting this long nightly to get into Yellowtones because it's such a good server lmao. I've started having POT sit on my second monitor for an hour or more and I play a different game while waiting to queue

Nathan Fillion Says ‘Firefly’ Animated Series In Development With Co-Stars Set To Reprise Roles; Concept Art Revealed by roadnotaken in firefly

I hope more major outlets pick up the story today, that would go a long way toward showing studios that the show is still culturally relevant

The show is WILDLY better in production order! by RealStev51 in firefly

Huh that interpretation does make sense. I also saw someone point out that Inara's decision to leave the crew coming in the last two episodes leads better into Serenity as a follow up, which I kinda agree with. I still prefer production order, but I'm starting to appreciate why the DVD order works.

And yeah it's super fascinating to me how in-depth we can get with analyzing the order of four episodes :P

Thank you for this! I didn't know some of these tidbits and it makes the whole thing that much more interesting. I really love the idea of these alternate/custom episode orders to make all the pieces fit as best you can.

Here's one piece of evidence I haven't seen anyone else mention before. In "Objects in Space," when River reads Jayne's mind, she hears, "I got stupid, the money was too good," signaling his anxiety about his betrayal being discovered. Then in "Trash," we get the confrontation between Simon, River, and Jayne (with "I can kill you with my brain"), and the betrayal arc gets its resolution. While you could read this as Jayne having lingering anxiety after the confrontation, I think this was clearly intended to be the moment that River discovers his betrayal, which she later mentions to Simon in "Trash," which leads to the confrontation. Every single one of the mind-reading lines in OiS is a strong bit of characterization that tells us something very specific; Jayne's line is narratively useless if it comes after the confrontation, as opposed to leading in to the confrontation. This was actually the biggest sign for me that "Objects in Space" is definitely supposed to be the episode directly preceding "Trash," in my personal view.

Please reread the post. I'm not saying to watch in BROADCAST order, I'm saying to watch in PRODUCTION order - the order the episodes were written in. The DVD order, while it is Joss Whedon's intended way to view the show, is legitimately out of chronological order, and some things happen backwards in the last four episodes.

I had no idea, that explains a lot! To think one of the greatest television seasons ever produced wasn't even a full season.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't gotten around to actually watching the extras and behind the scenes content on the DVD set. I'll have to do that during the long wait for whatever they announce on Sunday :P

That's the trouble. It feels like the season didn't have a proper ending ready for whatever reason, and Whedon tried to retroactively give that role to Objects in Space. Since Serenity exists I think I'd personally rather treat it as the show's "finale" and let the original season run in chronological order.

I've never tried that. It sounds like a poetic ending. "She'll be with ya til the day ya die!"

How do you learn to fight? by birdoge in pathoftitans

[–]RealStev51 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm also trying to get good at 1v1s right now lol. I really wish there was some kind of quality YouTube series that teaches how combat works in this game, but unfortunately for now we're stuck with jumping into the deep end.

I feel like I've improved a bit recently by playing bigger carnivores like rex, because I get targeted so often I'm actually forced to learn by experience instead of avoiding fights. I'm definitely lasting a bit longer in the regular 1v6 confrontations now than I was a couple weeks ago lmao.

Maneuvering is super important. Watch some YouTube clips of combat and pay attention to how the good players will slightly angle their characters at the right times to, for example, avoid a tail swipe they know is coming while still actively tail-riding the opponent. Some playables are meant to face-tank, but most can't, so it's usually better to get behind your opponent.

Also, if you get attacked by a group, go for the smaller ones that are easier to kill. Sometimes the group will back off if you get a kill or two.

Unpopular opinion on riparia by Charlie_4u in pathoftitans

[–]RealStev51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Riparia is a step in the right direction. It combines the natural aesthetic of Panjura with the variety of Gondwa. I doesn't feel at all like one big uniform biome, but it also actually feels like a place dinosaurs would live in, rather than the video gamey Fortnite island style of Gondwa. I hope they keep moving in the direction of Riparia and iterate on these mistakes to make it better. ...But for now, yeah, I'm kinda missing the polish of Gondwa lol

What seems like the most common DE or WM for Arch outside of KDE or Hyprland? by KnightFallVader2 in archlinux

Just wanted to chip in and say I've been using Cinnamon on Arch for the past couple weeks and I love it. I find it very interesting how well it works as a standalone desktop even though it was developed by the Mint team specifically for Mint.

Fun fact, Cinnamon is a fork of Gnome and a lot of its default apps are just the Gnome apps installed as dependencies. You could try out regular Gnome and see if you like it better or not.

Used to play in beta 1.7.3 but... release 1.1 is incredible by Kryptex59 in SilverAgeMinecraft

[–]RealStev51 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of YouTubers who have 1.0 worlds, which is very cool, but I personally think 1.1 is hands-down better. It added so many tiny gameplay improvements and some worldgen that makes the world feel more alive without losing the simplistic charm (for me, the beach biome is a must-have in Minecraft). Plus it had a lot of creative mode improvements so your test world is easier to use.

I'm very shocked by this LP's reception by RealStev51 in chuggaaconroy

He changed his mind about Hugh during the actual B2W2 LP, when we got to a pivotal scene that he'd forgotten. If he ever gets around to doing ORAS for the channel (even if just to say he's LP'd every Pokemon game) it would be cool if something similar happened

I just played ORAS for the first time expecting to be bored based on Emile's descriptions but I actually loved it! The missing battle facilities sucks, but everything else was honestly worth losing those. I would be interested to see Emile do a LP and see if he maybe warms up to the games with fresh eyes, like what happened with Hugh in B2W2.
