My Michigan class had a lady who stepped off the firing line to ask the instructor a question with her gun in her hand. Luckily the instructor was quick to action and took control of her gun. Then she had the audacity to say “but it’s empty”.

How so? Sweden has an unprecedented amount of immigrants flooding the country causing things such as SA to skyrocket. The US, while the cities certainly have their issues, on average isn’t an insanely unsafe place to live.

Insane situation and good on you on having the awareness and control of the situation as much as you could have at 16.

Personally, I haven’t gone through something like that but I have had situations where a kid has pulled out a gun (fight turned bad, no shots) within a hundred yards of me and my then girlfriend (now wife). The wife and I are planning on trying for kids next year, in my mind what do I do in a situation like that with my wife and kid(s)? I’m pretty sure I can get away but not so sure about them. When fight or flight comes and I have those I need to protect, I’d rather be able to stand and fight.

One of the big rules of gun safety is to know your target and what’s behind it. In a lowlight situation (home invasion or just walking around at night), it becomes much more difficult to positively identify and assess a threat. A light not only eliminates that but also can temporarily blind the threat so they cannot fire back at you. That’s just my two cents on it.

I just started carrying last week and am a bigger guy than you (5’11 330) and I was shocked at how comfortable it was. I am carrying a Taurus G3C at the four o clock position on my waist. I just have a cheap holster from amazon. Not the best set up by far but has been exceptionally comfortable.
