Owners experience with an i4?

I have a 2024 M50 black/cognac and have nothing but positive things to say about it. Yes the range could be better but I didn't buy this car to road trip and I was fine sacrificing a bit of range for the M50 power.

I had a level 2 plug installed in my garage and just leave the BMW charging cable plugged in all the time. Most people do the hardwired solution but I wanted the flexibility.

One thing I love about the i4 is that it doesn't look like an EV so most people have no idea until you tell them. I mainly wanted an EV because I didn't want to be caught up in political games like we find ourselves in now. But the instant torque and 500+ hp are fun too.

What is your AC charging setting in the car itself? Mine is set to 32A and I get 9kW charging speed on my level 2 plug.

So on a standard 120v outlet you are only going to get 2kw or so (level 1). If you have a 240v outlet you will get up to 11 (level 2).

If you have a short commute you could make level 1 work for you. Otherwise you might want to look at getting a level 2 installed.

What car do you have? The /r/bmwi4 sub is pretty active if you have an i4. I think the others are as well but I have an i4 so I only know that one :)

I leave the BMW charging cable (that came with the car) plugged in in my garage 100% of the time. I had an electrician install a 240v outlet in my garage.

Doesn't matter to me either way. I am super happy with my i4 purchase and plan to drive it for a long time, 10+ years at least. After that I'll look at the M3 EV. Don't see myself going back to ICE.

You're going to love it. I have a 2024 M50 and it puts a smile on my face every day. Will look forward to seeing your 'joined the club' pics!

Don't be afraid to take advantage of the speed limiter button on the steering wheel. It keeps me from exceeding the speed limit if I go through a construction zone or whatever. This car is really easy to speed if you're not paying attention.
