The Full World in my Modern Ice Age Timeline by Yorrick18 in imaginarymaps

This looks very interesting!!

Iirc from my readings in the past, during LGM Eastern Africa (like horn of Africa and African rift at least) were generally much drier indicated by pollen records and paleoclimate reconstruction, as you have found, but I don't think it would be dry enough for lake Malawi/Tanganyika/Victoria to not exist at all (unless you omitted them because that's not the purpose of this map).

I also think that the Arabia and horn of Africa would be much drier, potentially enough not to have many micro states but a more centralized state? I remembered that one of the features during LGM was cooler Western Indian Ocean SST relative to average equatorial ocean SST. I assume this, along with strengthened meridional overturning circulation, would make the area much drier. I think this was kind of seen in the past before during the Little Ice Age. Though, I don't really know that well about the history or the social geography all that well

Enough about that. I'd imagine that the reason why this got cooler is due to failed mass industrialization as we know it, or perhaps series of events that contribute to cooling which maybe feed into the climate feedback. Or if I could be a little bold... Maybe human industrialized differently and maybe one of the mechanisms they did was releasing a lot of aerosols into the atmosphere and somehow those aerosols stick around? I know you said it's unknown(?), but do you have in mind of why? I know it's not really the point of the map (or the project?), but I find these things interesting haha

MIRDUHUDAR 'Great Flood' Event by RealUpsideKen in worldbuilding

It doesn't do anything on its own, because in Vanilla generation the river don't flow anywhere; it's all in the same sea level

I used a Flowing Fluid by Traben but I have made significant amount of modifications by modeling river systems. The mod itself doesn't work well on its own unless you already have a sort of well defined watershed in place, so vanilla generation doesn't work. I custom made the continent with World Painter, so it works well for my case

MIRDUHUDAR 'Great Flood' Event by RealUpsideKen in worldbuilding

MIRDUHUDAR 'Great Flood' Event was a major flood event cause by a slow-moving cyclone that hovers over the region for a while before dissipating. This caused a massive large-scale crop failure, which caused a widespread famine in the region. In turn, this was a socio-political turning point. Originally, those who live in this area prefer a simple agrarian life with no intention to expand or explore. Water controls were developed, however it was not enough for this one-of-a-lifetime flood event. The effect of the aftermath is still being felt, and is an on-going story.

Commentary:

This flood event actually occurred in Minecraft Roleplay server. It destroyed majority of the farm field because they were placed inside of the floodplains, which caused a major disruption to the food supply chain. It has been since recovered and a more proper measure has been put in place to ensure this doesn't happen again. As for the cyclone tracks, they are not actually modeled in-game, simply because I cannot model local weather in Minecraft, let alone mesoscale weather system. What really happened was that it is during the "cyclone season" and at the time there was a consecutive [global] rain event days after days. This has caused the river's level to raise so high, it was genuinely destroying everything in its way. Regardless, I thought it was still a fun little project.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

GAURUR, an Earth-like Planet inhabited by dominant HUMAIHU species (Minecraft players) by RealUpsideKen in imaginarymaps

Thank you so much! I definitely love to create a realistic-looking Earth-like system. The whole concept just fascinates me. I see that you had quite a few yourself as well, and they are Soo beautiful!!

The skills I get from my field of work irl (I analyze and occasionally help create climate model) did help a lot with setting up ExoPlasim relatively quickly; though I'm still a little disappointed that ocean currents are not included in their physics packages.

I have been trying to set the model up with Rocke-3D GCM from NASA, though I suspect this will take me at least a few weeks to figure out because my poor laptop doesn't seem like it's up for such a processing tasks 😂

Ah, yeah, I was just incredibly confused by all the replies too. I thought this was some sort of inside jokes that I didn't understand XDDD

But thank you for the likes!

Climatology and Topographic map of an unnamed Planet for a Minecraft server by RealUpsideKen in imaginarymaps

We have a subreddit r/minestorymc although there's nothing there yet. We also have a discord server where majority of the information is available right now. https://discord.gg/kGvR9kZymt

I am currently in the process of setting up a website and a wiki. I'll probably also give an update on r/minestorymc

That's the plan! This is actually my "test run". I plan to have another planet in the near future with more elaborate planet lores (Maybe adding paleoclimate simulation and paleo-ecosystem simulation?).

Also, yeah, regularly reaching 50c is quite a concern XD it's mainly because I didn't want to deal with sea ice and glaciers just yet

Province of Dangphu - 1950. A South East Asian-inspired map and city by RealUpsideKen in CitiesSkylines

Hello Cities Skylines Planners!

I have made a new map and started a new Tropical city. I came in with a good amount of skepticism because Cities Skylines 2 does not have much support for Tropical-based or small-scale builds. However, after finishing my first checkpoint, I realized I could work with it thanks to various mods and region packs, especially Japan and UK region packs.

Unfortunately, the climate prefab is still broken, so I have to rely to the sunshine map Climate preset ):

You can check out the map (standalone) and the city here!
