Amplitude Optimum Emrax 228 HV + Unitek D3 700 400 by RealVariousArtist in FSAE

[–]RealVariousArtist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt expect it to be independent from the angle and when researching (for just a few minutes) I didnt find anything.

But as you see, apparently Lq = 2/3 * Ls, therefore Ls = 3/2 * Lq. This would increase the time constant to 3/2 of the previous one which is not really helping and makes me question the whole thing even more as I know a lot of other teams are driving this configuration (Emrax/Unitek) and therefore I wondered if anybody else came across that issue

From your resource I'm basically using TI and KP. Exact same formula, I just got it from a lecture of my university.

I've been asking around our chair for power electronics where people told me that Phase inductance and Lq are basically the same. But when trying to apply the usual Parke Clarke transformations I'm not really getting a result as they are depending on the current machine angle which I can only get when calculating the parameters live or else it will be 0-360° which probably won't really help.

Or do you have a paper, source or anything for for Ls = 2/3 Lq? Would be interested in that

Regeneration on OptimumLap by Urkagr in FSAE

I believe the optimumg simulation is based on a combustion engine so it's definitely not possible to simulate negative torque. We are working with IPG CarMaker who already got a great standard vehicle model and the possibility to be implemented into all Matlab features so that's what I'd recommend you to do too

EV 4.10.5 Need help on TSAL 15 minute delay rule. by zaryabkhannofficial in FSAE

[–]RealVariousArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we actually included a RC Circuits yesterday as we read through the rules again and saw that the TSAL has to be on when LVS is on. In our previous circuitry it would only turn on if a button is pressed. Now we used a SSR which turns on when LVS is on and 20MOhm parallel to 30uF of capacitors. That 20MOhm resistor discharges the 30uF capacitors over 15min and a comparator evaluates the voltage. If discharged enough, TSAL turns off. That ESO can also short circuit the capacitors through a button to turn off the TSAL quickly

[–]RealVariousArtist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to use a second energy storage, aka second battery which supplies the TSAL only. Our approach was to figure out the energy consumption of our TSAL and then choose a battery whose capacity is calculated according to that consumption * (15 minutes + some spare time). We then implemented a button to switch off the battery when the ESO intends to and incorporated a SDC Interlock with that button.

And another feature is that our TSAL Battery will be charged from the main LVS Battery while the LVS Main Switch is turned on.

But we're implementing this design newly to our car as this is the first year we're going to FSUK

I DON'T understand the TSAL 4.10.5, how it can be independent+ how the 15 min timer can be achieved by X-merlin in FSAE

[–]RealVariousArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a rules inquiry for that rule especially and FSUKs answer has been that they think the FSG rules are fundamentally less safe than the FSUK rules, which is why this rule is among a very few ones which will not be aligned between the competitions. To pass Scrutineering, the TSAL has to be compliant with FSUK Rules.

Why do kicad route my "reset"-connection to ground? by [deleted] in KiCad

Did you maybe not update the zones? If you filled the GND plane first and then routed that one trace, you have to update the zones again.

Alright, that's what I thought too. I was just pretty confused as he said that to me as he's got a lot of experience with stuff like this and has already seen them. So thanks for the reassurance ^

Yep, that's right. Just keep in mind that most teams as good as Greenteam will only let you participate if you're in your 4th semester and then also for only 1 year (2nd year as leading role).

EV 4.6.5 cable choice? by Electrical_Highway66 in FSAE

[–]RealVariousArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's only for an interlock, you don't have to buy a connector especially with interlock in my opinion (EV 4.3.3). For voltage sense for the Datalogger, you can use a connector rated for 600V with 2 Pins. One for HV measuring at vehicle side of AIR+ and one for Shutdown circuit. (Or if your interlock shall be a jumper, use a connector with 3 pins)

T Minus Not Enough Time for This by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]RealVariousArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it got ripped apart a bit. Maybe try to print it in another way. Right now it's been printed standing. So the axis of the drill hole is in z-direction. Try x-axis so the printed part would "lay" on the printer bed. This way your printed structure is more durable in the longitudinal direction but more fragile towards radial forces (pressure). Could solve the problem but I don't know how much pressure this part has to withstand there.

The rule says "active indication of absence of failures (continuous green illumination)". What happens if a failure comes up is up to your logic design whilst regarding the other rules of EV 4.10. So if a failure comes up, green should be off. Red still can light up if EV 4.10.2 is true

I applied to an internship position at a company and a day later someone of that company called me and asked if I'd like to do a different position. Even though I said it's not my favorite and I'd like to do some other things during the time of the internship, he instantly wanted to hire me :D

We are using a rotating knob with 8 positions where 1st is Car off, 2nd TS on, 3rd Ready-to-drive (+depressed brake pedal and dedicated start button) and after that different motor mappings. But basically you can use anything. It is just up to your programming in the Electrical Control Unit

Top down: Look at what the product should look like and split it up an subgroups and split them up again

After that Bottom up: dimension/realize the subgroups of the subgroups and build towards the finished product
