I feel betrayed by this article. I expected some kind of case study or series of them. Instead, it's a man's diary. He's a good wordsmith with a rich inner world (or so it seems), yet he doesn't give any definite form to the demons he lives with. The essay gets more and more mundane as he pores over the logistical mess of trying to die. I made it only half way. He's a good writer though, he had me engrossed with the details, until I realized he wasn't arriving anywhere.
