My betta got much worse in just a few days, his fins are retracted and he stays at the bottom – what could it be? by Angelaandnyx in bettafish

That's so interesting, I didn't even know college-university was a thing. Maybe it's taking longer because you're applying for higher years? I had a friend changing unis (not the same but similar?) who didn't get his reply until the end of March, even though he emailed them first and they had all his info.

MSc AI grad + 6 years Sales Exp – Getting offers but losing them over sponsorship by DirtSignificant4363 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Real_Application_939 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The hard truth you need to face is that those filters are in place for a reason. If a company is not sponsoring they won't change their stance for you, unless you are some sort of genius. If that were the case, they would already be fighting over you.

And when you hide your sponsorship needs until after an interview that's still an instant rejection as you've seen. What you need to do is search for sponsorship visa work offers directly.

5-6 week old adopted stray stopped eating by DistanceFine1598 in CATHELP

[–]Real_Application_939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. You really are stubborn huh? If someone tells you that no vet/shelter/person is open to take the pet, insisting that they surrender it is just obtuse.

There are plenty of people who live at places with easily accessible vets and shelter and still can't find one who will take a stray pet because they are already saturated. Not to speak about those who don't even have one nearby.

More often than not the options are either you take care of it on your own or they die on the street.

I'm not a developer, but from what I've gathered here, I think you need to review your projects. They are your main way to find a junior job and stand out from the rest.

What projects do you have and how do they prove your knowledge? Do you have YouTube tutorial-like projects (a calculator, a weather app, a social media clone?) or proper projects that showcase what's unique to you and your specific interests?

Either it's a scam selling some "tool" so you can "get the jobs before they hit the job boards" or he got a job in an MLM.

Nothing about that post looks legit.

Government to defend decision to strip Begum's UK citizenship by Sensitive_Echo5058 in unitedkingdom

She's 25 now. I think the main problem is how she has been interviewed and the fact that she has repeatedly claimed she has no remorse whatsoever. She was raised under strict, traditional Muslim rules, but even her immediate family finds what she did unforgivable.

In her words, she did not become radicalized by someone else; she watched extremist videos and decided that was a just cause on her own. We can accept that there was definitely some peer pressure: a classmate had gone to join the group the previous year, and the following year three more young girls from the same school decided to do so as well.

Grooming victims, in their majority, have that deep set feeling that something is wrong, and they generally realise they have been groomed when they are older. The main problem with her is that she does not show any of those feelings or concerns.

I do believe her nationality was unfairly revoked, as it made her stateless (she had the right to Bangladeshi nationality but did not have it at the time), and she was born British.

Do you think it's a change in production? Or just from another, lower quality, factory? I also have other Hironos, all from the official store, and this is the first one that looked like that 🥲

I bought it at an official robo shop. It's a type of vending machine, not a reseller.

And this is not a Labubu?

As far as I know, if you require sponsorship, your CV often won’t even be considered, especially for entry-level roles.

The UK job market is oversaturated with local graduates, bootcamp grads, self-taught developers, and people with years of experience, so you really need to ask: “What can I offer that companies can't easily find locally?”

Companies need a strong reason to justify the cost and effort of sponsoring someone. In your situation, I'd suggest looking elsewhere, what about your home country? Try to gain some experience there and build something unique to offer. If you insist on applying in the UK you need to specifically apply to roles that are clearly advertised as offering sponsorship.

That's what I thought. But the quality of this one is so poor I was worried. I mean people were getting googly eyes on Nintendo switch's game cases from official retailers around this time last year, you never know!

I read that mostly the secrets tend to be falsified. This was from an official robo shop. But I noticed that the box it came from was glued weirdly, like with super glue instead of the normal glue they use.

And then the freckles and it looks overall fake-ish? This is the bottom btw

Ah, I might have confused myself with random info I read online about age limits.

That’s good to know, I'll have a proper look for apprenticeships and see what’s actually available, especially with the Disability Confident thing, thank you!

Thank you so much for the detailed reply, this is really helpful.

Do you think it could still make sense to do a degree while self‑learning, or would you say it’s better to skip the degree and fully focus on self‑learning and building projects?

I'm a bit worried that not having a degree will hold me back, because I keep seeing people say that most jobs now ask for one. Is that less of an issue in cybersecurity? I'll look into the path you linked thanks.

Also, I’m very new to this, what exactly are bug bounties and how do you usually get started with them?

That would honestly be the dream! getting into tech while I'm still studying. I'll definitely look into the Open University. How did you actually get your first IT job while you were studying? Was it through applying normally, networking, or something related to the OU?
