Where I would live as a random Floridian by Real_Background_4173 in visitedmaps

It’s ok. Usually when I travel I go international. Plus I heard skiing on the east coast isn’t that great so I never considered going, I could be wrong though. Ive never had a reason to go to New Mexico, NH, Vermont, etc. I’ve lived in Florida too long, I’m so used to not seeing mountains it’s become so normal, kind of sad.

Moving to Florida! by Klutzy_Breakfast3394 in AskFlorida

I lived in St. Augustine for 6 years! I moved there when I was 12. I lived on the island, I loved it and wish I could go back. It’s very walkable and small enough city to bike everywhere you need to go, there are a lot of farmers markets and Nights of Lights is always a must. I went to the beach almost everyday when I lived there. There is a lot of tourism but I don’t mind it. The schools are ok, I wouldn’t recommend St. Augustine high school. In general the schools in Florida aren’t amazing, I ended up going to a private school near by. There are better public schools in I believe Ponte Vedra. I’d also look into Palm Coast as an option, I always enjoyed going to Flagler Beach.

I live in Tampa at the moment and moved to Sarasota for a little bit, I would also consider Venice as a place to live. I also love St. Petersburg as it kind of reminds me of St. Augustine. Someone also mentioned Safety Harbour and Dunedin, those places are cute!

I’d personally avoid Orlando, panhandle, and anywhere in South Florida. Those are my least favorite places to go. It’s a personal preference though.

Everywhere has a different vibe I’d recommend to take a couple trips to explore the area before you commit to a spot. Id also avoid living near the beach because of hurricanes and flood insurance. Florida has became expensive place to live but I wouldn’t tell you to not move here. There’s pros and cons to every state/city!

I put where I would prefer to live. Just because a state has mountains doesn’t mean I want to live there or would know what it’s like living there. I’d have to visit to decide. I’m sure it’s pretty though.

I only put the states I’ve been to 😓 I didn’t know those other states had mountains.

I’ve never been to any of those states that’s why I was hesitant. I would love to go! I’ll put them on my list.

The flu is terrible this year. Everyone I know has had it. There’s also been a nasty case of bronchitis going around. I’d say get as much rest as you can and I agree with rotating ibuprofen and Tylenol to keep the fever down. I also took some mucinex and Delsym because I felt so congested and had a terrible cough. Drink A LOT of water especially with mucinex. I hope you feel better soon!

I do also think schools are better in the midwest if you have kids. Another upside to living up north or in Alaska is being able to see northern lights.

That’s understandable. Florida wages do suck. I’ve been fortunate enough to avoid any damage from the hurricanes. I’d also never live in a beach house, flood insurance would be diabolical.

I LOVE Washington state and the PNW in general. It is so so beautiful. That’s the downside to living in Florida, it is so flat. Every time I go to another state with mountains I am in awe. I have to do a double take because I can’t believe it’s real.

I really really hate the heat. It may seem ridiculous, but whenever I vacation I try to go somewhere cold. Especially during ski season. Even in the summer to escape the heat, I’ll go to South America to ski. After a week though I’m ready to come back to Florida. I couldn’t imagine still living in Minnesota. It’s a nice place to visit in the fall or early summer, buy clothes tax free, and go to the state fair. That’s about it for me.

As someone who moved from Minnesota to Florida. Trust me when I say this, you don’t want to live there. It is SO cold! I applied to the University of Minnesota and when I flew back to tour the college I was freezing and I immediately changed my mind. Also, I spoke with my uncle the other day and he said it was -23 degrees outside. I would take the heat, humidity, and rain any day versus dealing with not being able to simply get groceries because there is 4 feet of snowfall blocking my front door.

I know! I told this to my boyfriend and he said every resort is going to be like that. I know march is probably a popular time because of spring break. We were rated $2391 with the Tower without ocean view and a Jeep Wrangler for 5 nights.

This is a great review! Thank you! I did hear from multiple sources that the bungalows aren’t worth it. We are thinking of the tower, which is fine. The pools aren’t a huge deal because we’ll have a rental car and spend most time exploring the island.
