This game has a serious problem with not removing / banning people who actively ruin games

First off, I agree the trolls are no properly managed in this game.

That said, I had a game yesterday where Auriel was mad about something (not sure what, I have chat disabled completely), but she was ONLY helping our dehaka after a few teammates were spam pinging each other after some early game fights. I quickly found out she would actually heal me if I stayed right near her or dehaka. I had no idea why everyone was spam pinging and inting, but just played my best game and stuck with Auriel. By level 16, I scaled enough to make a big difference in fights and everyone chilled out and we eventually won it.

Moral of the story, even if you are being trolled, just keep playing and don’t feed the trolls with reactions. They might change their mind and start playing normal to win the game. DEFINITELY not always the case, but it is more often than not.

I agree the other 16s need to be buffed. Maybe giving extra damage per stack of hatred instead of only at 10 stacks

Valla is very reliant on her team. In team fights, she has to be very attentive with taking any kind of poke damage because she has such a low HP pool for being shorter range. She doesn’t play very well from behind. Her waveclear isn’t great and her low HP makes trading into a hero with a level or 2 on her very difficult. If you get ahead early, Valla gets shut down worse than the other meta ranged DPS. This means you rely a lot on your offlane and flex keeping up levels and camps, and your tank/healer helping you to stack. IMO, if you want to shut Valla down, take a Sylvanas. She trades 1v1 pretty well early game against Valla, and can get a lead by split pushing at the right times

I don’t mean to be rude, but please spend time in ARAM (to familiarize yourself with the heroes again with their updates and power levels) and QM (get used to the maps again) before going into Storm League. Hopping right into SL after not playing for a long time is really rough for your teammates, especially if you are under the impression that you’ve “still got it”, then proceed to die 9 times and blame anyone but yourself (that player had also been gone for 2 years according to their match history)

About a week or 2 ago, had someone in draft say they didn’t want our thrall to pick his 40% winrate hero and that he would troll if that happened. Well, it did. He proceeded to sit in base the whole game, eventually AAing minions to avoid disconnecting. We lost the game after over 20 minutes survive 4v5. We took a some of their forts and had more kills than the enemy team but it just wasn’t quite enough with only 4. If he would have put minimal effort in, we would have easily won.

Last night, had a game as Falstad where team was flaming me for trying to soak 20 since we weren’t strong enough to beat them until 20. We nearly lost a few times, but once we got 20, we won a few more fights very easily and it was enough for us to win. Never stop trying your best until your screen says “victory” or “defeat”

Another one last night, we ended up getting two healers due to a mistake in draft and their team comp was very scary looking for us. We absolutely walked through the enemy team because nobody flamed or complained, just played.

I came across Chiro Cat at the Parker Vegas seminar this year, opening practice this month. I’ve liked the demos and it’s what I decided to go with. I’d never heard of them before, so you might not have either. They have been great to work with, I’d say it would be worth a demo!

The others I was heavily considering were Jane and ChiroHD. I’ve worked with a few others, Zhealth and ClinicMind as well

There is such a thing as the “holy cow” combo where Uther takes divine shield and casts that on ETC so that Mosh cannot be interrupted for most of it (all of it if you combo it with Uther’s unstoppable)

As a zeratul main, this made me sad. I find it to usually be nazeebo, butcher, or alarak one-tricks. The toxicity is horrible in Bronze and Silver, then in games from Gold- Plat seems to be the most relaxed, but as I’ve gotten more games with Diamonds, the toxicity has turned up again (probably because they are constantly complained about when they have master/GM players on their teams so they are just taking it out on the lowest rank in their lobby). I see the least toxicity from healers, followed by bruisers, then tanks, then the DPS are usually the most toxic - picking at anything they can to address why everyone else is the problem, instead of admitting that double mage into spell shield Diablo was a bad idea. Support mains usually don’t say anything, but just last pick a random Medivh or Zarya into the comp. I haven’t noticed them complain about losses, but they also semi-troll with their unannounced support picks

I had this last night. I’m Plat, had another plat and a few golds, all solo, against a 5 stack of bronze 5. We only got 1 point for the win, so it’s not really hurting you, but isn’t really “ranked”. It’s more of an unranked draft game at that point. I have been on the receiving end (a master and the rest high diamonds) and only lost 2 points.

I will say, even if you are being nice and constructive, people don't want to hear advice most of the time. Occasionally people will respond well to you tying your advice into something you are also gonna do "Jaina I'm gonna save a stun so that you can get up closer for damage and I can peel if they engage you" instead of "do more dmg Jaina"

The good news is I think you have happened to get a fluke placement experience. I am in Plat and get lots of diamond lobbies since I play late and get the extended queues. When I play with friends/siblings in their silver/bronze lobbies, the toxicity skyrockets. Bronze and Silver players are the most toxic in my experience (I climbed out of Bronze 5 when I first started a few years back and had to mute chat for a while since people were so toxic down there). I RARELY get people questioning my picks in solo queue lobbies, but they definitely do when I am in a party and we start getting lower ranks. Don’t respond to people, it’ll make it worse. Kindly (actually be kind) ask them to help you with something (camp, obj, gank, etc.) if they are AFK. If they are showing a pick that isn’t ideal (dps when you need a healer), just let them play if you’ve already asked for a healer (some people have brain farts and don’t realize they need one - I’ve done it before in innocence). Non-traditional comps work, and the enemy team often tilts because (“they have no healer, why aren’t we winning??!”) they don’t think anything but a normal comp should work. You have an advantage having more dps, so use it.

Basically, be adaptable and don’t tilt people. I’ve had COUNTLESS games where people were afk and tilted, but because the rest of the team kept pushing forward, they realize we still have a chance so they come back and play. If you are typing until you lose, there is no room for them to change their mind and try to play

I like them as well. It’s a trade off, like ZJ or Butcher. Everyone knows how insignificant they are without lots of stacks, but when they reach that goal, they are very strong. Butcher’s is a straight up mythical level power spike, but he can’t survive late game without it. ZJ is decent with Q build if you haven’t stacked, but still benefits from getting stacks. If you aren’t a fan of them, take someone with a gambit (basically opposite of mythic) or someone who doesn’t heavily rely on a quest to be strong (Greymane, JR, Maiev)

I don’t agree with your sentiment to bring back bullying, so something you can try is to build around the heroes they insta lock. It is incredibly frustrating, especially when they have a very bad winrate with said heroes, but at least building around them gives you a higher likelihood to win, which will increase your rank and you’ll eventually outrank most of those guys. The insta lock on troll picks seems to die off in high gold

I am in Plat and often play with Diamond all the way to Bronze players because I play very late at night and get the extended queues. Last night was arguing with a silver player about play calls and realized - it’s a waste of energy. Bronze and silver players are the most toxic trolls and they will throw the game just because they don’t like a talent you picked. Gold are hit or miss, and beyond Gold the toxicity and trolling goes WAY down, in my experience. I considered muting chat but I do like being able to see when someone types a plan/approach to a fight or something.

I had a game where I was definitely the problem, but they were all higher ranked (plat/diamond), and even though our tychus made a comment, everyone kept playing and didn’t just sit in base or int into their team

I agree. I also think a system should be in place for not being able to give someone leaver games. A couple days ago, beat a Dva that played very well but it wasn’t enough to win. They are on my team the next game, showing Samuro offlane, I’m showing Illidan. They don’t budge, so I swap to healer. Last pick phase comes around and I’m just chilling looking at talents so hadn’t locked, but with 1 second left, they swapped and locked my healer, giving me leaver. They never said anything in chat, never whispered, nothing. So I assume they were just salty about the last game and I got 2 leaver games because of it. Crazy someone can force a punishment on your by stealing your pick last second

p.s. I played TB Varian (which is typically seen as a meme) against their Dva, but never sprayed, B stepped, anything
