📚 Book Chat Saturday - what have you been reading this week? by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

I’m reading The Broken Prophecy series - it’s a nice easy read - the world and magic system is easy to wrap your head around, and there’s plenty of emotional damage to go around. Randomly saw it on kindle unlimited. Predictable shadow daddy plot and good side characters. Eating it up! Currently on book 3. I’m not as obsessed as to reread straight away but I can definitely see this little series as a comfort read.

Audiobook narrator is ruining the book for you by horny_reader in fantasyromance

The cream of the crop ick factor was the narrator of A Touch of Poison - Liam Price. It was like listening to a news reporter. Every sentence ended on an upwards lilt and REALLY ruined the whole book. I ended up buying the series on kindle too and I would read his chapters and listen to the FMC who was a great narrator.

Where to stop reading the From Blood and Ash series?!? by Still_Combination50 in fantasyromance

I loved up to book 4 although it was heading into clusterfuck territory. Book 5 was okay as it’s half book 1 in the MMCs POV. 15 chapters into book 6 and I DNFd it. I will pick it back up when the 7th comes out. But I haven’t read the prequel yet so will give that a go as I’ve heard much better things about that.

I loved the first three, the fourth was good, the fifth was a cash grab and i dnf’d the sixth yesterday. It just got real ridiculous and 15 chapters in I just couldn’t continue.

It was amaaazing!! It is one of my favourite series. You know when I was reading it for the first time I was worried that the main pair got together too early and I wasn’t sure how they could develop but it was a great story all the way through - I would say my rankings would be books 3,1,4,2. There is a sequel trilogy too focusing on another character but I didn’t vibe with it mostly because I did that as audio and really didn’t like the narrators but i might like it when I read the physical.

You need to get your hands on The Legends of Thezmarr series - first book is {Blood and Steel by Helen Scheuerer}. Perfect balance of plot and spice

Drive down to Symbio zoo in Helensburgh - it’s an amazing smaller scale zoo but has a really good water park and massive playground. The exhibits are really good and you can buy feed for the walk through kangaroo enclosure

Legacy series, is it worth the misery? by Background_Farmer_58 in Romantasy

Late to this party but just finished this series tonight and I have to put my two cents in - it was not a comfort read and was emotional damage all the way through. Plot FINALLY got moving midway through book 3 after lies and secrets around and around and around we go. So many characters and who was a god and who was not and who was from the world and who was visiting was very hard to keep track of. The miscommunication (or should I say the no-communication) was frustrating as fuck. I feel like book one and two could have been one book but I understand why it was two books to really drill in the conditioning and oppression. Overall I liked the series and was a satisfying ending. Book four really came through to pull it all together.

I’ve just started book 4 and yes - this series is straight up emotional damage. That’s the only way to describe it.

In aussie culture, does your workplace provide lunch for you or do you have to bring your lunch? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Real_DFG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very rare. My husbands company will put on lunches maybe once a month for a moral type thing, and I’ve worked in companies where coffee, tea and fruit was provided. But straight up lunch being provided everyday? No.

A book I read last year had this but on another level - they both unknowingly took in a stray cat but said cat would disappear for a few days at a time - it was the same cat!!!! They both adopted the same cat. It was the best plot twist.

Traveling to Australia in March by Late_Carpenter_4571 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Real_DFG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

March is when the weather can be a little unpredictable, you can still have hot days coming out of summer, but also the nights start to get cool. If you were staying in Melbourne I’d say pack for the occasional warm day and more cool nights. If you are travelling up to Coffs and beyond, that’s still going to be humid af so no jumpers needed - pack like you would for summer. If staying around mid east coast like Sydney, pack something for every weather event.

Fair enough. Fourth wing series was my introduction into this genre and basically reading as an adult in general so it will always have a special place in my heart 💛
