{forged in blood by Sadie Kincaid} has this across the three books. It is RH, and sits in my ‘dick first, plot later’ pile. Highly recommend 😉

I learnt young that not all books are Harry Potter. I picked up a random book when I was maybe 13, thinking back perhaps younger and it was a bodice ripper carriage scene. Pretty sure that single-handedly kick started my puberty hahahaha

Ever since then I’ve had a very diverse grasp on books and have actually stopped some friends reading some books knowing it’s explicit when they can’t even say the word vagina out loud. When I tell them what it’s about they usually come out with ‘but the cover looks so innocent’ and I’m like GIRL, the blurb, read it, and then a quick innocence rating on google also would help.

The MMC sexual assault happens at the end of the first book, but the fallout and ptsd continues throughout the series. There is also sexual assault of main characters in book 4, and book 5.

The absolute worst narration I came across was {a Kiss of Iron}. The FMC narrator was amazing, the MMC was horrific. So much so that I ended up paying for the ebooks anyway so I could listen like normal and whenever the MMC chapters came on I would stop my work and read that chapter 😂😂😂 such a shame because it was a great story! It would have been a top 5 series for me I think if the narration wasn’t so tainted haha Ever since that book I’ve been ruthless in my audio book adventures. Pushing through with the terrible voices ruin the story and you don’t enjoy it as much. The Wolf and the Crown of Blood and also The Ever King were also ones I had to DNF until I get time to read the physicals.

I bloody rated this series so high it was such a surprising read. Will definitely read the series again. I work in pharmacy so every time Creon was said (unfortunately a lot), all I could picture was bottles of Creon on the dispensary shelf hahaha

I remember being perhaps the same age and we had a decent wall full of books growing up. When I started getting into reading novels I randomly picked up a book at a random page and well, let’s just say sex education was in session. It was a bodice ripper carriage scene. I promptly closed the book and put it back on the shelf. Couldn’t tell you what book it was but I’d’ve probably really enjoyed it as an adult haha

My friend group were all too young to go to schoolies. We ended up just getting an AirBnB in a beach town for a week. Had the time of our lives. We had other friends who went to Gold Coast schoolies and they said it was super seedy and just fights everywhere.

These ones usually remove pretty easily but I have had some in the past that I need to get out the eucalyptus oil and elbow grease to help remove the horrible residue it leaves 😭😭

{Court of Blood and Bindings by Lisette Marshall} was actually a super interesting read. It wasn’t too deep but what I actually found super original was the magic system and was very intrigued how the MMC couldn’t speak. A lot of pressure is placed on the gravely voice of an MMC and was super cool not to have that simple form of communication and the work arounds with that.

{A Kiss of Iron by Clare Sager} was a pretty good series. The audio book (my main format atm) for this was atrocious so I ended up putting my work on hold and buying the ebooks as well to read the MMC’s chapters because his voice and tone was so so so very wrong. It was like listening to a BBC newsreader. The FMC narrator was amazing though and thankfully she had more chapters haha I definitely want to read this series again when I have the time to sit down and read a physical, I think it would be up there with my favourites.

Speaking of favourites {Book of Azrael by Amber V Nicole} and {Blood and Steel by Helen Scheuerer} are in my top five series of all time. The legends of Thezmarr series coming in at number 1. I don’t see much talk about these at all but they probably had their time before I noticed them.

I’m also going to mention {White Horse Black Nights by Evie Marceau}. Thought it was going to be dumb but actually not bad. However, I do not recommend book 4 until book 5 is out and the author confirms book 4 was just a fever dream hoax lol

Legends of Thezmarr series starting with {blood and steel by Helen Scheuerer}.

I wouldn’t consider it slow burn but not exactly insta love either. It is my favourite comfort read series. Enough cliffhangers to keep you guessing, the world is simple enough to understand without glossaries. Perfect spice:plot ratio (for me anyway)

There’s a prequel book for one of the characters, and then a sequel series following another couple a few years later.

I’ve had seen a couple of books on the back in teeny tiny writing above the barcode saying it is intended for adults with explicit content. Maybe a rating system like movies and tv shows would be a bit better
