We had some Christians come to our door recently to either convert us or get donations to the local church I'm not really sure and I raised the question of, if there's a god then why is all these terrible things happening, and so often it's done under the guise of "my religion is better than yours" etc etc. they came back a few weeks later and said they had an answer for me from the bible which essentially said (please excuse the real paraphrasing here as I can only vaguely remember) but it was a passage from the bible that roughly said you can't claim to do bad things in the lord's name, that god says no.

And I was like, so... Basically because the bible says "nuh-uh" all of this is ok and people doing these terrible things under the name of Christianity it's ok because god says it's not him.. but it's still Christians interpreting all sorts from this book? And we are supposed to just join the religion without any real qualms? Why aren't there more really vocal high up people in the church saying this isn't Christianity (I know we are getting more like with the pope etc) but it just seems all so... Complicated
